SSBU will include five brand-new downloadable fighters that would also be a part of "Fighters Pass". The first one of them was revealed to be Joker from Persona 5 at The Game Awards 2018 and the rest four remained unannounced.

Game director Masahiro Sakurai probably was to announce some of the rest during the next Nintendo Direct but the recent findings already has some strong hint for the identities of the unannounced fighters. Since they are still unconfirmed, we suggest you to take this with a grain of salt.

Back in December 9, 2018, leaked info about Ultimate's DLC characters were posted by a user on Japanese image-board site 5Channel (formerly known as 2chan), where they also mentioned about the inclusion of Joker from P5 into the roster and his stage being Mementos.

No one really cared about it that much in the beginning but when his prediction of Persona 5 R title was officially revealed by Atlus, people started paying attention. He also claimed that P5R will be released on the first half of 2019, which we are yet to find out though.

There was also unconfirmed claim for four new characters joining the roster of SSBU and they are Doomguy of the Doom series, Erdrick from the Dragon Quest series, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and the default player character Steve of Minecraft.

The claim on Dragon Quest's Erdrick received more credibility upon the datamine leak of code that mentions Jack, Brave and Packu. Here, Jack is referred to be Joker and Packu is a nod to Pakkun Flower, Japanese name for pre-order DLC character Piranha Plant from Super Mario.

Now all that left is "Brave", which translates to Yuusha in Japanese, which also stands for hero and Erdrick belongs to the hero class of Dragon Quest. Moreover, the character has a legacy of appearing throughout the series, notably the first three games.

Therefore, he is a worthy representative of the franchise on the crossover arena of Ultimate and the codename "Brave" fits his description very well. Reportedly, Anlucia from Dragon Quest X is to serve as an alternate skin for.

The source also claimed of a game from Square Enix classic series to arrive on Switch that turned out to be Dragon Quest XI. The hint of Ryu from Ninja Gaiden to make it to SSBU can also be a re-release of the game in 2019 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

The arrival of Doomguy may be revealed at E3 2019 to promote the upcoming release of Doom Eternal, also coming to Nintendo Switch. Steve from Minecraft was meant to debut on the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate but shelved as a DLC to promote Minecraft: Dungeons in 2019.
