Nintendo Switch Lite Announced

Brand-new Nintendo Switch Lite device is announced, a cheaper, smaller version of Switch for handheld play.

For long, industry analysts and insiders were suggesting that Nintendo will be releasing a cheaper version for their next-gen hybrid console Nintendo Switch that came out in early 2017 and turns out, they were actually right.

Fans have been anticipating and requesting a smaller version focused on handheld gameplay ever since the inception of Switch. Today, Nintendo Switch Lite is finally revealed to be newest addition to Nintendo family of consoles.

Currently scheduled to see launch on September 20, 2019, Switch Lite will be priced $199.99 only. Having almost all features of original device, no detachable Joy-Con controllers will be part of Lite despite having "Switch" as its middle name.

Whereas the original device weighs for 0.65 pounds, Lite system will come in light at 0.61 pounds and offers 3 to 7 hours of gameplay in terms of battery capacity, compared to 2.5 to 6.5 hours of lasting time for Nintendo Switch.

Its design is entirely focused on being a portable hardware that comes out in one piece just like Game Boy or Nintendo DS systems from past. Though you can take it anywhere you want but can't connect it to a TV to enjoy big-screen play.

However, players can still get external Joy-Con support and hook up Switch Pro Controller as well. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC are sill retained with a vast Nintendo Switch library of games that supports handheld mode except some.

Adding a new system to their extended family of devices, Nintendo offered an overview of Nintendo Switch Lite.

Instead of becoming a replacement for Switch, some noticeable improvements on battery life, design area and a lower price point will offer a much accessible approach towards Switch library through Lite for a larger audience.

Nintendo Switch Lite marks the first revision for Switch console, expected to be available in yellow, gray and turquoise color. November 8, 2019 would see launch of Pokémon Sword and Shield special version of Lite, a week before the game arrives.
