Capcom Profits Doubled Due to Digital Downloads

Capcom profits increased by 50% this year, thanks to digital downloads of "highly profitable" titles catalog.

Japanese video game developer/publisher company Capcom already have two of their biggest releases earlier this year; Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 Remake, both of which performed commercially and critically very well.

Also, their year-on-year sales report suggests that their numbers have improved and saw 50% increase this year, mostly because of digital downloads revenue of their "highly profitable" catalog of popular games on all platforms.

According to their latest financial earnings report, Capcom made record profit first quarter of 2019. Apparently, digital downloads for titles that saw multi-platform release since 2017 has helped break in these impressive numbers.

Their approach to restructuring eSports events in past few years through Capcom Media Ventures has helped grow communities of fighting game and helped Street Fighter V garnering huge fan-support to grow over time.

Capcom is doing pretty good throughout 2018 and 2019, releasing long-anticipated sequels of fan-favorite franchise like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil that has contributed to considerable amount of shipping units worldwide.

Also, Monster Hunter: World added more to their overall sales figure and the numbers were especially well on PC platform. Major success of MHW has led to upcoming massive expansion pack Iceborne to arrive very soon as well.

Performance of both Mega Man 11 and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection alongside Resident Evil 7 was good enough to add. Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch has seen good sales number in and outside of Japan.

Of course, they have no plans to slow down with DMC 5, MHW and RE2Make anytime soon and these crown-jewels of Capcom are likely to get a cross-platform release when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett will finally hit the stores in 2020.

There were never any doubts about increasing fame of these franchise as a new Resident Evil movie reboot is currently in development after its past series has earned over $1 billion while Devil May Cry animated series is in works for Netflix.

A live-action Monster Hunter movie is already in production and looking forward to set up a franchise as well. Capcom is well aware of market appeal of these titles and is likely to produce more installments in upcoming years.
