Streets of Rage 4 Introduces Cherry Hunter

At Gamescom 2019, a third playable character Cherry Hunter is introduced for Streets of Rage 4 by developer DotEmu.

Back in August 2018, official announcement for upcoming side-scrolling beat 'em up game Streets of Rage 4 was made by developer DotEmu, Guard Crush Games and Lizardcube with a brand-new trailer and some gameplay bits.

Two fan-favorite series regular ex-cop Axel Stone and police detective Blaze Fielding are confirmed for SoR4. A third and newly added playable character named Cherry Hunter is introduced lately at Gamescom 2019 in a new clip.

Aside from Axel Stone and Blaze Fielding from original Streets of Rage, two additional playable characters were on vaguely teased on background silhouette of PAX East 2019 gameplay teaser video that anyone can miss pretty easily.

Newest SoR4 recruit is a guitar-playing fighter Cherry Hunter, daughter of Adam Hunter from first SoR game. She is a street-level brawler with love for music, who took some lesson in self-defense from her father and Axel.

Cherry wields an electric guitar that she uses to perform slide through or shock her enemies with guitar strum. She has some similarities in her moves with her mentor Axel and though her punches may not hit hard, she is fast.

Despite being a young warrior, Cherry Hunter is an interesting playable fighter that brings variety into gameplay experience. We are likely to get another reveal very soon from silhouette tease who will probably be a "powerhouse" character.

After gaining "cult classic" status in side-scrolling beat 'em up genre from fans, Streets of Rage series has been on hiatus for more than two decades until original developer/publisher of the franchise Sega decided to bring it back.

Although Streets of Rage 4 has not received an official launch date from Dotemu just yet but its release platforms are recently revealed to be Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which came out exactly as early predictions.
