It would come as a surprise for many fans that Naughty Dog studio would delay one of their much-awaited releases following a release date reveal even after taking a considerably long development period that started in 2014.

However, Druckmann clarifies that entire game would not likely be as polished as they would like it to be to ensure a certain standard of quality by time they will face a launch deadline as they are closing in different sections of it.

Therefore, they had to choose between two given options of either compromise their vision to release in set time or take enough time to nicely polish the game to maintain excellence while avoiding development crunch time.

Coming next year, The Last of Us Part II is a PS4-exclusive title from developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment, which is a follow up sequel to 2013 universally acclaimed survival horror game The Last of Us.
