Alan Wake Remastered and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Reportedly Coming to Epic Store

Ever since launch, Epic Games is desperately trying to compete with rival PC gaming platform giant Steam with weekly free game giveaway and continues to acquire more exclusives for their digital distribution outlet Epic Games Store.

A newly leaked listing for PC version of Alan Wake Remastered and Final Fantasy VII Remake is discovered through backend data of Epic Store, which probably suggests at possible upcoming release of these two titles as EGS exclusives.

According to Reddit user AsleepEntrepreneur73 and AwareReplacement1587, these two leaks are found within EpicData website, which is a site that keeps track of Epic Games Store updates to discover items, promos and other insights.

Both titles are currently listed under codenames and their real names are filed in directories of cloud save folder. Alan Wake Remastered is named "HeronStaging" and Final Fantasy 7 Remake is going by "Pineapple" in website database.

These two newfound listings are originally from 2019 and 2020 respectively, which no one took notice of until now. Also to note that, both of them were updated this year and therefore, they are neither errors nor ordinary placeholders.

Although not officially confirmed yet, Alan Wake Remastered being released on PC platform will surely be a great surprise for series fans. However, timed exclusivity of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PlayStation consoles is known since 2019.

Now that FF7R has passed its PS4-exclusivty period of April 2021, a PC release may happen very soon. On the other hand, Alan Wake was never been launched on last generation consoles and next-gen hardware awaits an updated version.

Earlier in June, an upgraded version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake titled "Intergrade" is released for PlayStation 5. Fans can probably look forward to a December release window for a PC port after its six-month exclusivity period is finally over.

Although still not announced, Alan Wake Remastered coming exclusively to Epic Games Store is expected of developer/publisher Remedy Entertainment as they previously released PC version of sci-fi adventure game Control on EGS first.

Back in March 2021, Remedy has revealed to be working on a AAA-game and a smaller project, in publishing partnership with Epic Games. One is possibly a sequel and another one is likely to be a remastered version of original Alan Wake.
