Dead Space Remake Announced

Last month, there was rumor of a 2008 survival horror game Dead Space revival by GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb. A number of industry insiders have supported his claim and he teased its reveal at EA Play Live digital showcase this July.

Recently during EA Play Live 2021 showcase, developer Motive Studios and publisher Electronic Arts has officially announces working on a modern-day remake of sci-fi horror game Dead Space to launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

A brand-new teaser trailer for upcoming Dead Space Remake offers an exclusive first-look at EA Play Live.

Latest in-engine look at Dead Space teaser shows a Necromorph is slowly transforming across a corridor of on board USG Ishimura while a second shot cuts to protagonist Isaac Clarke getting ready to investigate and find his partner, Nicole.

According to official press release, Dead Space Remake will be featuring an improved gameplay mechanics and story. Motive Studio is building it from the ground up to modernize its critically-acclaimed single-player campaign for all players.

EA Motive has previously worked on single-player campaign of Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars: Squadrons. During initial development phase of new Dead Space game, they reached out to dedicated fans to receive feedback from them.

From early leaks, fans were already pretty sure about new Dead Space project being helmed by EA Motive. However, they were debating over whether it is a remake/remaster for next-gen, a follow-up sequel or a complete franchise reboot.

EA and Motive will be using Frostbite engine to re-create roughly every aspects of level designs and gameplay from scratch. They intend to take full advantage of 3D audio and advanced next-gen SSDs to make Isaac's journey more immersive.

Motive Studio also made a reference to original producer Glen Schofield in newest Dead Space trailer through a sign that reads "Schofield Tools" near Isaac's plasma cutter and he even took Twitter to share his excitement and give blessings.

Now that EA is reviving Dead Space series after nearly a decade later, there may be possibility of its sequels to get similar treatment. Given how badly Dead Space 3 performed on launch, a fresh new take can most likely redeem it this time.

Dead Space Remake is currently at early stage of development and therefore, has not revealed any launch window or a set release date yet. Taking lessons from past mistakes, Electronic Arts won't be including any micro-transactions as well.
