Alan Wake Sequel Reportedly in Development

Nearing end of March, industry insider and VentureBeat by journalist Jeff Grubb reported that a highly-anticipated sequel to Alan Wake series was been greenlit by Epic Games and funding was also given to developer Remedy Entertainment.

A recent investor report of Remedy Entertainment reveals that one of its upcoming AAA-game has moved into full production as part of a two-project publishing deal with Epic Games, which is rumoredly to be an Alan Wake sequel game.

Remedy's investor report reveals that one of its "AAA game project with Epic Games has moved into full production and a second, smaller-scale game remains in full production mode" without revealing much detail of these ongoing titles.

Despite lacking any specific information, rumors are currently hinting that Remedy's AAA game is much likely to be an Alan Wake sequel. It's been a decade since original Alan Wake came out and Remedy took back franchise rights in 2019.

Remedy Entertainment's latest investor report also mentioned that a bigger-budget sequel for Control is in its "early conception phase", which is probably a different game than Epic Games' early deal of "AAA game project" collaboration.

There was another report last month that Remedy Entertainment has signed a deal with 505 Games that involves development and co-publishing agreement for a multiplayer spin-off game and sequel to multiple award-winner Control.

Epic Games originally announced to publish new multi-platform games from Remedy and a few other studios last year. Earlier, these two companies have confirmed working on new games set within Alan Wake and Control shared universe.

Remedy already made a crossover between these two games by adding Easter eggs from Alan Wake and they went even further with Control's second DLC expansion, AWE by taking players to Bright Falls, a location from first Alan Wake.

Unless either of Epic Games or Remedy Entertainment officially confirms any of these floating rumors online, there is a lot to speculate. If they end up making Alan Wake 2, titular IP will be expand further into Control's narrative universe.

Given how long development phase takes to progress over time, we may not see any in-game footage within a year or two. Meanwhile, Alan Wake fans can get really excited for "AAA game project" partnership by Epic Games and Remedy.
