Payday 3 Reveals Cast, New York City Setting and More

In celebration for 10th anniversary of co-operative heist adventure franchise Payday, developer Overkill Software and publisher Starbreeze Studios shares fresh new details of upcoming long-awaited first-person action shooter Payday 3.

A few hour-long livestream was hosted by Starbreeze Studios global brand director Almir Listo to celebrate 10 years of Payday release and cast, concept art, story settings as well as a release window were revealed during this broadcast.

Payday 3 will bring back original gang members Dallas, Hoxton, Chains and Wolf, taking place a few years after Payday 2 ending. Now that they are coming out of retirement and getting back to old ways, new heists are about to happen.

New character concept and key-art were revealed as game director Erik Wonnevi talked about switching to Unreal Engine. Dallas and his gang previously moved to Washington, DC briefly and Payday 3 takes them to downtown New York.

A fictional New York bank named "Gold & Sharke Incorporated" was revealed in concept art, as which may serve as a mission location. Dallas and his crew are depicted before and after pulling a heist, ending in a confrontation with SWAT.

Years have passed since Payday 2 released and technology has evolved, which will be also part of in-game narrative. Payday 3 will reflect on crypto-currency, dark web, mass surveillance and software giants, through updated gadgetory.

Meanwhile, Payday 2 continues to have one of the highest concurrent player counts on Steam and more updates are coming soon. Starbreeze also plans to launch a Closed Beta for upcoming mobile title Payday: Crime War in December.

Payday 3 is currently scheduled to release on 2023 by publisher Prime Matter, brand-new label under Koch Media. Wonnevi didn't show any cinematic or gameplay footage but hopefully, we can expect to get a better look in near future.
