Despite many of the highly-anticipated releases for 2021 has been pushed to next year due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there was still plenty to go around and were nominated by fans to be celebrated at The Game Awards 2021.

Beating strong contenders like Deathloop and Metroid Dread, 2021 action-adventure platform game It Takes Two has won "Game of the Year" award, leaving behind Psychonauts 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Resident Evil: Village.


Hazelight Studios' acclaimed title was also honored as Best Family and Multiplayer game last night other than GOTY. Metroid Dread has deservingly won over Best Action/Adventure Game in spite of losing biggest trophy of this year.

Although missed out their shot at crown jewel, Deathloop takes home accolades for Best Art and Game Direction. Newly launched military shooter Halo Infinite has surprisingly received major support for "Player's Voice" category.


Another 2021 indie action-adventure Kena: Bridge of Spirits by Ember Lab has deservingly won in "Best Indie" and "Best Debut Indie" group. Prime Gaming announces Elden Ring to be Most Anticipated Game, just like it did in TGA 2020.

Other than being recognized as Best Sports/Racing Game, Forza Horizon 5 thrives in Best Audio Design and Innovation in Accessibility. Multiplayer battle arena game League of Legends is Best eSports Game and hosted Best Esports Event.


Square Enix's massively popular MMORPG title Final Fantasy XIV Online wins Best Ongoing and Community Support. Maggie Robertson was chosen for Best Performance for her portrayal of Lady Alcina Dimitrescu in RE: Village by fans.

The Game Awards show host Geoff Keighley invited Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann to present "Game of the Year" honor to Josef Fares, game director for It Takes Two and founder of Swedish game developer studios Hazelight.
