Even before wrapping up development of Dying Light 2 last year, developer/publisher Techland promised to deliver a next-gen patch for original Dying Light game when PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S version rating was spotted on ESRB.

Earlier this month, Techland rolled out a free upgrade for PlayStation version of first Dying Light after its sequel was launched globally. A free next-gen update for Xbox version was set to arrive on a later date, which has been released today.

Xbox Series X console owners can enjoy three new video modes, which offer higher frame rates and better graphics. Series X version lets you experience faster load times and 60 FPS gameplay with full HD resolutions via Performance mode.

Dying Light players can expect to get 60 FPS in Quad HD (1440) resolution using Balanced mode for XSX. Fans who prefer graphical enhancements over frames per second can switch to Quality mode targeting a stable 30 FPS in 4K resolution.

Xbox Series S and Xbox One X version gets you 30 FPS in full HD or Quad HD resolution via both Performance and High Resolution mode. Across all three platforms, level of details distance has been increased by 25% for better visual quality.

Techland has released Dying Light: Platinum Edition last year, including 2015 original game and all DLC packs in a single bundle. Last week, they also rolled out a major Dying Light 2 update for PC and console platforms, fixing a list of issues.
