A new game in Tomb Raider series has been confirmed by Crystal Dynamics, which begins a new saga in Unreal Engine 5.

During celebration for 25th Anniversary of Tomb Raider series last year, game director Will Kerslake reveals that future games in long-running franchise will unite two different series timelines and they have some ambitious plans.

Earlier in January 2021, a Tomb Raider anime series was greenlit by Netflix and Powerhouse Animation Studios. Today, developer Crystal Dynamics announces that a new game in Tomb Raider series is in works using Unreal Engine 5.


Crystal Dynamics' general manager Dallas Dickinson recently revealed during State of Unreal 2022 event that dev team has already started working on next Tomb Raider series entry that will be utilizing newly released Unreal Engine 5.

Newest version of Unreal Engine will help Crystal Dynamics to deliver next level of gameplay and storytelling experiences. Dickinson didn't reveal much development detail but upcoming Tomb Raider game is not arriving anytime soon.

He promises to emphasize on fidelity and high-quality cinematic action-adventure experience above all. Unreal Engine 5 has been powered by Epic Games to create such visually impressive and fully immersive game for a new generation.

Tomb Raider originally made its debut back in 1996 and entire franchise has been rebooted in 2013, introducing Survivor trilogy. It focused on early adventures of archaeologist Lara Croft and concluded with Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
