Assassin's Creed: Rift Reportedly Named Mirage, Will Release in Spring 2023

Latest entry in Assassin's Creed saga, 2020 action role-playing game Assassin's Creed Valhalla by developer/publisher Ubisoft lets you play as a Viking warrior named Eivor, who takes a personal journey across Scandinavia and Britain in 855 CE.

Valhalla adapted many RPG elements like its predecessors Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey but upcoming Assassin's Creed game featuring Basim Ibn Ishaq will reportedly return to popular series roots when it launches in spring next year.

According to latest leak, next Assassin's Creed game will be titled "Assassin's Creed Mirage" and is set in 9th century Baghdad. Ubisoft has yet to officially confirm these new rumors via a future reveal event, currently scheduled for September.

French YouTuber j0nathan reports that "Mirage" will take place in a period of internal instability during Anarchy at Samarra. It will reportedly go back to basics of original Assassin's Creed game with return of Eagle Vision and stealth gameplay.

Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has confirmed some of these leaks regarding "Mirage" while denied a few.

Schreier corroborated and verified spring 2023 release window for Assassin's Creed: Mirage but debunked claims of multiple open-world cities. He didn't comment on claims like having no RPG aspects like dialogue choices and leveling system.

Basim being main character of Mirage, there will be no gender choice but you can expect some new animations for sure. You will see him as a young thief before meeting the Hidden Ones and he will be able to use String Dagger amidst fights.

Originally codenamed "Rift", the game was initially planned as an expansion to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft is apparently working on variety of projects, including a modern-day remake of original Assassin's Creed game, based on Mirage.

Assassin's Creed: Mirage will be announced alongside live-service game Assassin's Creed Infinity at upcoming Ubisoft Forward event. An insider report claims that AC: Infinity will explore Feudal Japan as one of its location setting at a later date.
