Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster Reportedly in Works for PS5

Only a week before 2022 action role-playing game Horizon Forbidden West by Guerrilla Games could launch, its 2017 predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn reaches a major milestone of selling over 20 million copies on all platforms worldwide.

While fans are getting excited for official TV adaptation of Horizon coming to Netflix in future, a new report claims that a remaster of Zero Dawn is currently under development for PlayStation 5 consoles along with a multiplayer spin-off.

An updated version of Horizon Zero Dawn will reportedly feature graphical enhancements that will bring it on same level with its 2022 sequel, in terms of improved character models, lighting effect, overall animations and other aspects.

Zero Dawn remaster for PS5 will include accessibility features, graphics modes as well as quality of life improvements to gameplay. Recent report claims that Guerilla Games is also working on a multiplayer game for PC and PlayStation 5.

Guerilla has seemingly been interested in exploring multiplayer component of Horizon series as they even planned a co-op for 2017 original. However, they eventually scrapped it to allow dev team more time to focus on other elements.

A leaked concept art for Horizon Zero Dawn back in 2014 even offered a glimpse at initial plans for multiplayer like Monster Hunter games. Sony even wanted to add co-op in Forbidden West but decided to save it up for a future project.

PlayStation games being re-released for newer consoles is not to Sony as they already launched a number of remakes and remasters for PS5 including Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel's Spider-Man, Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us, Part I so far.

Horizon Zero Dawn released a PC version back in 2020 with higher frame-rates, improved draw distance and a lot more. Sony recently expressed interest in pushing live-service games with 12 new titles set to arrive by end of March 2026.
