Dead Island 2 Has Gone Gold and New Release Date Revealed

Years of development troubles have lead to multiple delays for upcoming action survival horror game Dead Island 2 from developer Dambuster Studios and publisher Deep Silver was slated to arrive for major platforms in February 2023.

Unfortunately, it was pushed back once again for 12-weeks during final development stage and moved to April 2023 by dev team. More recently, Dambuster announces that Dead Island 2 has already gone gold and will launch a bit early.

In a latest announcement, Deep Silver has confirmed that Dead Island sequel is arriving a week earlier than expected, on April 21, 2023. This effectively helps DI2 to avoid clashing with newly delayed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on April 28.

Announced back in 2014, a long-awaited sequel to 2011 zombie slaying experience got delayed several times and changed studios. Originally helmed by Yager Development, before they were replaced by British studio Sumo Digital later.

Earlier in 2019, development was internally moved to Dambuster Studios and Dead Island 2 got re-revealed during Gamescom 2022 event. Although it was meant to launch for last-generation console system, DI2 will be a cross-gen title.

Dead Island 2 is already available for pre-order on digital stores and early purchase includes lot of additional items as bonus. DI2 features six playable characters and takes place in open-world of Los Angeles as well as San Francisco area.
