Destiny 2: Forsaken PS4-Exclusive Content Revealed

PS4-exclusive content for Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion includes armor sets, exotic weapon, new ship and a Strike.

Because of an early exclusive contract with Sony Interactive Entertainment, the third expansion Forsaken of online multiplayer first-person shooter game Destiny 2 will bring some very special content for owners of PlayStation 4 console, which publisher Activision confirmed back in June 2018, during the announcement of the DLC. Recently, a list of details over those contents is revealed and there are some slick looking weapons to pick that come along as well as a new strike.

The brand-new exclusive exotic trace rifle, Wavesplitter is a gun that turns sonic waves to superheat electrons into a powerful blast of energy beam. While holding down the trigger, that vary on three different power levels and indicators such as laser thickness, a meter or sound effects are the way to determine that depending on how much longer you hold it. The best part is, the weapon can deliver maximum damage upon collecting an Orb of Light to power it on peak level.

PlayStation-exclusive strike, Broodhold makes four strikes for players on Sony consoles whereas PC and Xbox One owners will get only three. Guardians will take it upon themselves to clear an upsetting Hive infestation fighting Thralls, Acolytes and Knights before finally facing the Hive Brood Queen. She can change into a physical and shadow form, each granting her different abilities to attack you. Taking cover and positioning yourself is very important, especially when she takes the shadow form.

Guardians will receive an exclusive set of armor for each three classes, Hunters receive Red Moon Phantom, Mimetic Savior for Titans and Warlock class gets the Thorium Holt. A new ship called Great Beyond comes from a great distance and a free Cayde-6 Theme will be on PlayStation Store to honor the memory of everyone's favorite gunslinger. Previously released sniper rifle Borealis and Warmind-exclusive strike The Insight Terminus will be headed to PC and Xbox One on September 4.

Even though the decision they made with Destiny 2: Forsaken so far regarding story and marketing, has driven the fanbase mad over developer Bungie and publisher Activision, they still believe these exclusive contents can somehow appeal to players on PS4 but whether or not it does is still remains to be seen. Because, many of them agrees with their brethren from PC and Xbox community that exclusivity is anti-consumer despite it making the game more popular over their consoles.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for September 2018

PlayStation Plus free games lineup has picked up Destiny 2 and God of War 3 Remastered for the month of September 2018.

We are more than halfway through 2018 and have been enjoying some fine games this year from PlayStation Plus. In August, we had action-adventure video game Mafia III from developer studio Hangar 13 and action survival horror Dead by Daylight from Behaviour Interactive. Other titles on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita were just as good. As the moth has come to an end, we are back again with more exciting news of new free games lineup for upcoming month of September.

Before we get into what is ahead of us in PS Plus lineup for September 2018, let's take a quick look at the short clip below showcasing the titles.

The very first game in our list is a surprising arrival of course and it is the online multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2 from Bungie and Activision. In story campaign, you play as a Guardian of Light and a protector of the Last City, defending it from an invading Red Legion and its leader Dominus Ghaul. However, players are more drawn towards the strikes and raids as well as other public events. A 24 hour free trial awaits you on PVE & PVP mode Gambit from Destiny 2: Forsaken.

What we have next is an action-adventure hack and slash game God of War III Remastered from Santa Monica Studio and Sony Computer Entertainment, parties responsible for the creation of 2018's blockbuster title God of War. You play as titular God of War Kratos, who launches an all out attack on Olympian gods, primarily driven by vengeance over Zeus. Along with Gaia and Titans, he attempts to destroy everyone in his path with double-chained Blades of Exile to destroy Olympus for good.

  • Another World – 20th Anniversary Edition (PlayStation 3)
  • QUBE Director’s Cut (PlayStation 3)
  • Sparkle 2 (PlayStation Vita)
  • Foul Play (PlayStation Vita)

You also happen to have a PlayStation VR bonus game Here They Lie, a first-person horror title from Santa Monica Studio that takes you to a city of nightmares. With mysterious creatures running around everywhere, you are on the run from it all while trying to figure out the secrets of the woman in yellow. Then there is a party game as a PlayLink title, Knowledge is Power to entertain you for having a fun time with trivia questions and various challenges to test your wits.

Another thing to note is that your PlayStation VR bonus game Here They Lie will be available till October 2 and Knowledge is Power is accessible on PlayLink before November 6. That's everything we have for this month and hopefully, we will be back with more news of PlayStation Plus free games on Sony consoles for next month like always. Although, the year 2018 is far from over, it is safe to say that September 2018 free games lineup from PS Plus is hands down the best one announced till date.

Bungie and Microsoft Considering Destiny 2 Cross-Play

Developer Bungie and Microsoft are interested to add cross-play feature to online-only multiplayer shooter Destiny 2.

Developer studio Bungie has made a name for them with the success of multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny franchise and Destiny 2 has been quite triumphant as well. However, the game is allegedly dying and the company is doing their best to bring their players back. Aside from announcing their third expansion Forsaken, they are considering offering cross-play with D2 and since Microsoft is interested as well, it seems like a good opportunity to play it throughout a wide variety of platforms if not all.

After initially debuting on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the game shortly arrived on PC in 2017 only a month after. Players are all drawn into large, futuristic shared world where they play the role of a Guardian of good trying to protect The Last City from an invasion of alien warlord Dominus Ghaul and his Red Legion. Gamers have played the campaign over and over, while participating in many raids and timed community events in multiplayer mode, which is limited to respective platforms.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Forsaken Story Reveal

When asked about the possibility of introducing cross-play to their game, Steve Cotton and Scott Taylor from developer team stated that this is a concept they talk about frequently but currently there is nothing at works regarding this unique feature. Also, there is no chance of having this aspect added to the game before launch of Forsaken DLC. However, it seems that Bungie is very enthusiastic about introducing this feature to D2, we might not have to wait for too long to see it.

Xbox President Mike Ybarra also created a poll on Twitter last month seeking fan response on whether they want to see Destiny 2 get a shared platform gaming experience or not and he got 87 percent of response positive.

Destiny 2 cross-play is a long-cherished fanboy dream that needs to come true as soon as possible and Bungie has been very willing to come on board with that plan. However, things might take an interesting turn considering PlayStation is commonly regarded as the lead console for the series, who adds exclusive content for their platform in each expansion pack and their recent controversies of not willing to offer cross-play on PS4 has already put them in a sticky situation.

RELATED: Destiny 2 "Go Fast" Update Details

Sony faced major backlash regarding account restriction of Fortnite for other consoles and Bethesda has also called them out for not being friendly to make cross-play available on upcoming Fallout 76 game. They seem not to care if they lose players and keep the multiplayer to themselves as they have just sold over 80 million PlayStation 4 units till date. D2: Forsaken will debut on September 4 for all three major platforms and they all would be busy for some time enjoying the new DLC.

Destiny 2 PlayStation 4 Free Weekend

Bungie and Activision offers a free weekend to enjoy full Destiny 2 campaign and Crucible for fans on PS4.

With the sequel of 2014's original multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny, developer Bungie and publisher Activision made a huge buck. Destiny 2 was one of the biggest PC launch for the publisher company and did pretty good on consoles as well. If you have somehow missed out the opportunity to be a Guardian and fight to save The Last City from a new ruthless enemy, then you are in luck because a Free Weekend offer on D2 is just on the horizon for PlayStation 4 owners.

Starting from Friday, June 29 you are allowed to enter the trail from 12:01 AM PT till Monday, July 2 at 10 AM PT. You can pre-load the game now and the short trailer below will give you a brief of the offer.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Forsaken Story Reveal

Whereas, games like team-based FPS shooter Overwatch from Blizzard Entertainment or tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege from Ubisoft throw out Free Weekend for fans to play trail of their game every other month, Bungie took no part in that sport so far. Maybe a few instance in the beginning, but not for a while afterwards. However, they are offering a trail that lets you play full campaign, where you can fight against the invasion by alien warlord Dominus Ghaul and his Red Legion.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Escalation Protocol Details

All existing game modes and all the gears are up for grabs throughout the whole weekend for free. Just like always, all of your progress made through the trail can be transferred to the main game if you decide to purchase it later. Even though all those rumors of D2 is dead because of a decaying fan-base and their terrible decisions with DLC distribution are not entirely true, looks like Bungie is trying to revitalize Destiny community for their upcoming Forsaken expansion pack and a slight selling advantages.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Warmind DLC Details

Destiny 2 is an online-only multiplayer first-person shooter from Bungie and Activision, available on all major platforms. Earlier this month, a Free Weekend trail on Xbox One was thrown as well for Xbox Live Gold members from June 7. We are only wondering if they are willing to offer something similar to players on PC anytime soon. Otherwise, it just looks like one-sidedness towards console gamers, while a better chunk of the community might feel left out.

Destiny 2: Forsaken Story Reveal

In one of E3 2018's most shocking moments, it looks like Bungie has your beloved Hunter Vanguard in some real trouble.

Despite Bungie's online-only multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2 being one of the two best-selling games on console alongside another Activision title Call of Duty: WWII, it faced some tough times with the release of "Curse of Osiris" and "Warmind" expansion pack DLC. Now that the third one in line has just announced shortly, fans knew that something is up and they will be let down once again. Unfortunately, they are proven right during Sony's E3 2018 press conference.

A cinematic story reveal trailer for upcoming D2: Forsaken DLC is released in the hype of E3 and it immediately saddened all players.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Escalation Protocol Details

As the trailer opens, we see one of the most beloved Guardians and everyone's favorite hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 badly injured, sitting on his knees and even missing a chunk of his face. He surely is in trouble but isn't trying to run away. His ghost is taken out and then the camera moves around to reveal the return of Prince Uldren Sov holding an Ace of Spades hand cannon to his face. He blasts off the wisecrackin’ Exo on spot and then walks over his body along with his followers.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Warmind DLC Details

With that, D2 just killed of one of their most celebrated character from Destiny-verse, which drove players either frustrated or mad over Bungie. In an attempt to bring back players to the game, they decided to raise the stakes more than they ever did. They have introduced the threats of aliens trying to destroy the world before and it worked too but the studio believed taking a fan-favorite personality like Cayde off the board will be so much relatable to players on personal level.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Warmind Reveal

D2 community has been devastated since they witnessed this and the Destiny subreddit is the solid proof of that with the increasing number of goofs and memes in the loving memory of Cayde-6. On September 4, Destiny 2: Forsaken is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We hope that Guardians get their hands on Uldren Sov to get their revenge on their fallen comrade and settle scores then.

Destiny 2: Forsaken Reveal

Developer Bungie reveals their shared-world multiplayer shooter Destiny 2’s next major expansion, Forsaken.

We are only a few days behind for E3 2018 but Activision and Bungie had other plans regarding their hugely successful online-only multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2. Though it initially managed to get a very positive response from fans worldwide, it's having tough time getting some traction from fans these days. Their next big expansion for the game, Forsaken is expected to breathe new life in it when it is released for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 4, 2018.

This brand-new expansion is bringing new contents like two new locations to discover and will introduce a new 4v4 endgame mode called Gambit. This shared-world shooter has been suffering from post-game content for a long time upon release and hopefully Gambit mode might just fix that problem. One of the new locations to explore is called The Tangled Shore and the second one is The Dreaming City. Guardians will find new secrets to unravel and dreadful bosses to take on.

Destiny 2 is one of the best-selling titles of 2017 but for lack of content and many changes at gameplay had many of its community leave the game. Forsaken has allegedly dealt with these issues and promises to be better and for the sake of the game's future, we really hope they did. We will only find out if Bungie has made good of their promise when it finally arrives on September 4.

Destiny 2 Escalation Protocol Details

Bungie promises Destiny 2’s new endgame activity, Escalation Protocol will be ever challenging as well as rewarding with loots.

With its second expansion Warmind for multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2 releasing on May 8, 2018, developer Bungie and publisher Activision is also bringing Escalation Protocol event for all Guardians. So, players will keep busy more often these days with D2 and by looking at the details of their plan, looks like the studio has taken lesson from backlash at their Curse of Osiris expansion, which pissed off so many fans of the franchise that many has even sort of abandoned it.

What they are planning with Escalation Protocol is an ever-challenging public activity that always keeps the players engaged to keep things interesting for them. Waves after wave of Hive enemies will be attacking you and each time they become more difficult to kill before finally entering into a boss battle! Guardians are now deployed on Mars, the Hellas Basin and two of the public zones from there will be in the event. These are all the core details of this event in short.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Warmind Reveal

Previous public events like Archon’s Forge, Court of Oryx, Prison of Elders and Witch’s Ritual were the prime source of inspiration for developers of this event as well as activities from original Destiny game. Many of those modes that you have enjoyed previously that would still fit into the world of Warmind are added and Escalation Protocol promises to be more challenging as par requests of fans in Destiny communities to bring them more difficult activities to participate in.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Warmind DLC Announced

What their team has learned from Curse of Osiris is that Mercury Destination felt too small for players and there was very little room for progress. So, while working on Hellas Basin Destination, the developers decided to send you in different places to encounter enemy hordes and make those confrontations intense. You will earn various gears upon defeating unique bosses at the end of an event and they will keep revolving each week, so your Guardians will face off a new one each time.

Escalation Protocol is designed to stand out with Nightfall, Trials and the Raid, where you will be facing a new challenge each time that will not only demand for best strategies but some your best gears available as well. Only your best performance can get your team through those tests. This is still very different from other end-game activities as all of it is going on a public zone and working together is the only key to get past this event.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Nightfall Strike and Prestige Raid Will Change

Doesn't matter whatever level of players are present in the zone but they all are allowed to join this event and contribute, which is pretty much every other D2 events are. Although ones with lower levels can get massacred by high-level groups, their participating still matters to overall course in the end. Going through all these troubles have rewards waiting for you as unique armor, weapons with new perks and other items. Each week, you can earn armor pieces until you complete the whole set.

Even though up to 9 players can take part, at the beginning of the event, they might feel a bit under leveled and banding up in such large number would seem necessary. When you will get used to it, you won't be feeling downwards anymore. Plus, Escalation Protocol is tuned for Warmind expansion so that it is feasible for most prepared fireteams of max-level 3 person that joins the party. The task will be hard on them but not impossible to achieve. So, any additional help will just relieve the pressure off and let them plan for better strategies.

RELATED: Destiny 2 Warlock Glitch Will Fix After "The Dawning"

In most cases you will find another friendly group to harmonize and complete the event with, which was the goal for this event to take place on public zones. It opened up for all sorts of opening to work together and see the end of it. Since this is not a raid, not everyone is assigned to a single job to acquire larger goal. Once players will get accustomed with new rules of the challenges, we can hope to see some very innovative cooperative gameplay that will probably blow our mind.

For now, Bungie have five unique bosses planned for Escalation Protocol event, who will be rotating each week at the climax. After fifth week, the first boss will come back rotating again as you saw in Court of Oryx. The two public zones are different in terms of encounter spots and opportunities but in functionality, both are the same. Prepare yourself for the game's second DLC expansion Warmind when it drops on May 8, 2018. Season 3 is progressing and so is Destiny 2, available now to play on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Watch Bungie and Vicarious Visions reveal details of Destiny 2’s second expansion Warmind on Twitch.

Although multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny 2 started well when it came out in September, 2017, developer Bungie and publisher Activision soon found themselves on a bumpy ride of fan-hate because of their decision of constantly changing things players loved about the game just for the sake of freshening things up. With the game's second DLC Warmind, they are hoping to finally make up for their mistakes and try to damage control as much as possible.
