PlayStation Plus Free Games for June 2019

PlayStation Plus free games lineup has picked up Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sonic Mania for the month of June 2019.

Lately, Sony Entertainment has been failing to keep up with expectation of PlayStation Plus monthly subscribers with their somewhat decent to barely mediocre titles in their monthly free PlayStation 4 games lineup for past few months.

However, they might have actually listened to their community and having a look at their current offering, it is rather safe to say that PS Plus members would have a better experience this month of June than what they had in May.

Get a brief look at what greatness awaits ahead of you this month, will be available to download from June 4.

June is looking forward to start with some unchecked mayhem off planet and that is because Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is the first draft pick of this month from developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games.

Bundled together Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel in one, it also includes all DLC packs from both titles mentioned above, local multiplayer, cross-save from PlayStation 3 and of course, delivered in high definition remaster.

Secondly, there is 2017 platform game Sonic Mania that still is very much rooted in its 2D side-scrolling past. Expect to experience everything from classic stages, fast paced gameplay and co-op multiplayer mode for two players from it.

With his trusty companion Knuckles and Tails at his side, this blue hedgehog of super speed going up against their arch-enemy Doctor "Eggman" Robotnik and new robotic enemies while chasing after collectible golden rings on a constant.

Despite Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch from last month both being pretty decent titles of their own right, many PS Plus subscribers were disappointed for what they got since Sony is no longer offering PS3 or Vita games.

Given how everyone is hyped up for upcoming Borderlands 3 and will all that craze regarding live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Sony made a great lineup for PS Plus subscribers on June 2019 against the price of their subscription this month.

Borderlands 3 and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 Pulled from Epic Mega Sale

Following huge price off announcement in Epic Mega Sale, Borderlands 3 and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 is pulled from Epic Store.

Ahead of annual Summer Sale of rival distribution platform Steam, Epic Games Store launched "Epic Mega Sale" that offered customers some pretty sweet discount deals and a generous $10 cash back on purchase worth $14.99 or above.

However, it appears that some publishers were not willing to be as generous with their games as Epic Games and therefore pulled off titles like Borderlands 3 and Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 from first major sale of Epic Store.

Publishers often give a hefty 75-80% discount offer over select titles on various occasions but what Epic Store did to compete with Steam was not okay with some studios and they were not even notified on what final sale prices would be.

When this drastic move didn't sit well with fellow publishers, they pulled out games like Borderlands 3, Oxygen Not Included and Vampire: Bloodlines 2 simply because their mega sale was diminishing values of these games prior release.

RELATED: Fortnite X John Wick: Wick's Bounty Limited Time Mode

This unwanted debacle between distribution platform and AAA-publishers could have been avoided easily if Epic Games Store actually communicated with their partners before announcing the mega sale and didn't rush out things.

However, games bought during sales would still be honored at bought price even though some of them are currently removed from storefront. That includes highly anticipated upcoming titles from Gearbox Software and Paradox Interactive.

Another title to create some stir during this sales period is Early Access action role-playing game Hades from developer Supergiant Games, which used to sale for just $10.99 and comes at only $6.99 after applying a 65% discounted rate.

Upon launch of Epic Mega Sale, this rogue-like dungeon crawler saw a rise in price cap that ended up being $24.99 and only came down to $14.99 following price off, so that it wouldn't be affected by newly reduced rate at all but players are not happy with such shady approach.

When fans took issues with a sudden change in pricing, Supergiant issued an apology on their official Blog and Discord channel for communicating poorly about their plans but it comes very suspicious why they would do it when the sale went live.

They also cleared out that players can get the game for $10 off by participating in ongoing offer that will end on June 13. From June 14, Hades would be available on $24.99 price since they updated it with so many new characters, events and features.

Although claimed that they do not want to follow business model of Valve's Steam, Epic Games actually did worse by making expensive deals with major game developers to make their titles Epic Games Store exclusive on PC platform.

Response from PC gaming community was largely negative to this practice and some angry mobs even review bombed previous titles from those game studios on Steam; most recent examples being Borderlands 2 and Rocket League.

RELATED: Borderlands 3 to Be Epic Games Store Exclusive

Of course, Steam had their rough days in the beginning and stumbled many times before coming to a steady position. With time, Epic Store can eventually provide a better experience if they truly are here to change PC gaming for good.

Obviously, "Epic Mega Sale" was meant to benefit customers and developers but Epic Games clearly need to learn from their mistake and change their attitude of throwing money at everything whenever there is a problem.

We Happy Few: They Came From Below DLC Out Now

First DLC of We Happy Few complete with rampaging robots in "Roger & James in They Came From Below" is available now.

Despite best efforts of developer Compulsion Games and backings from Microsoft Studios, action-adventure game We Happy Few turned out to be a disappointment for many when Gearbox Publishing launched it on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

However, their development team still worked on expanding story of the main game with its first ever downloadable content pack in "They Came From Below", which is currently out now on all available platforms.

Players will be exploring this new plot as Roger, armed with a Ray Gun for both melee and range attacks. He is aided by James who is a former soldier and his goofy partner, often remaining in contact through a walkie-talkie.

There is theme of James regressing his feelings for Roger even though all mostly he does is question every actions of his associate, which possibly is a result of a dystopian era of a society they live in, where no one would accept this unlikely couple.

We Happy Few Secret Ending!

Survival horror title We Happy Few offers players a secret ending without forcing him to go through all the troubles.

Psychedelic horror game with action-adventure elements, We Happy Few from Compulsion Games and Gearbox Publishing is finally out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although the game is slightly undermined after release despite much anticipation that was build around by player following its reveal, the game has a vivid interactive world and an engaging story. Recently, a shortcut is found to end the game very quickly without facing the twist and turn of events to reach conclusion.

To get the secret ending, you will start with Arthur Hastings' story after the game begins and he will be running his Redactor device to check and remove reference sources of tragedies regarding mind-altering campaigns of Wellington Wells. He will come across an article that refers to a tragic past regarding his younger brother Percy. This presents a quick turn of events to players with a choice to take a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy" to remove his sadness or try to think freely.

To go ahead and see what challenges the world of WHF has in store for you; most players would refrain from taking the pill. On the contrary, if Arthur ends up taking the Joy pill, he will go back to his happy life without ever meeting other playable characters Sally and Ollie to dig deep about the dark secrets the city hides from everyone. In recent memory, similar hidden ending was found in Ubisoft's action-adventure FPS title Far Cry 5, where you could see the game end in 10 minutes.

If the idea of playing though the entire plot in a British dystopia of 60's doesn't seem that appealing to you at all then you can always take the low road and get away. Of course, any gamer under normal circumstances would generally want to go through the entire story of the game once they get their hands on it but for some unknown reason, Compulsion Games decided to let people take a quick exit. So, anyone is looking for a quick way out to end credits, you know now how to get there.

Adding this secret ending was a fine nod to display how an indulged populace has become a social norm these days and how taking less aggressive actions can sometime get you out of situations. We Happy Few entered Steam's Early Access program after a successful Kickstarter crowd funding campaign and upon being delayed back in January, they even offered a refund. Finally, things were sorted out when Microsoft Studios acquired the studio and helped them launch the game on 10 August 2018.

Just like Arthur and Sally, Ollie had an awakening about the fact that the retro-futuristic city they live in has some terrible dark past and a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy" is doing that. Being a mad Scotsman and ex-soldier, he is not liked by everyone around him and he hates television celebrity Uncle Jack but he has an invisible friend though. Despite pitted against all odds, he did keep his Scottish heritage intact and even managed to survive in the Garden District nearing old train station.

On their take on Ollie's character, art director Whitney Clayton wanted to go for someone who is a tough nut to crack. While he is still wearing his old military jacket and old army boots, he is more than a soldier who notices the anomaly of his society. Although he may not remember all of his past in entirety, he finds purpose in life upon discovering secrets of the Victory Memorial Camp. Like the other two playable figures, Ollie Starkey has his unique perks and abilities that will help him uncover the truth.

One of the few people that see through the dark history of the city of Wellington Wells is Sally Boyle and she is in a race against time to run away from her terrible neighbors. While the artificially-enthused society around her constantly wants her to indulge in a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy", she is looking for a way out of this forced madness upon them. For her grooviest fashion sense, Sally is deemed as a wonderful girl in this alternative reality, retro-futuristic city of 1960's England.

Aside from being a chemist who assists one of the doctors in creating Joy, she is very dazzling and witty. During her character design process, art director Whitney Clayton wanted her to be both a clever chemist and an iconic social figure that everyone knows. However, her glamorous and smart outlook is just a front to hide her secret past that can get her killed if it ever comes out. Her unique appearance and stance is heavily inspired by 60's fashion models like Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick.

Psychedelic horror game We Happy Few was previously scheduled to release worldwide on April 13, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Featuring three different campaigns, protagonist Arthur’s story from the game needed more work to accomplish the desired look they were trying to achieve; therefore it was pushed back to summer 2018. Now that it is finally set to release on 10 August 2018, we are here to discuss about its first playable character Arthur Hastings.

In a 60's English town Wellington Wells, Arthur is a common man working to censor newspaper archives off offending stories. When he came across old news about him and his younger brother, he refused to take a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy", which everyone else in town has been indulged with. So, in an attempt to dug deep and discover the truth, he discovers a dark history of his retro-futuristic city that everyone else is cheerfully denying everyday with their Joy pills.

He may be a man of plain appearance that wouldn't drive attention of the onlookers and very easy to miss in a crowd but like two other playable characters of the game, he has his unique ability perks. Art director Whitney Clayton designed Arthur's character based on typical awkward people pushed around by his peers. Sporting a nerdy look in glasses and a thin frame, he is good at running away and it is very crucial for survival. He is also pretty good with melee weapons like a club.

Microsoft Studios have later acquired the studio in June 2018 and everything came back in right track.
