Resident Evil 2 Remake May Have Micro-Transactions

Recently revealed ESRB rating for Resident Evil 2 Remake has finally confirmed that the game will use micro-transactions.

As we are heading closer to January 25, 2019, the hype only intensifies even more for the upcoming survival horror game Resident Evil 2 Remake to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide from developer/publisher Capcom.

We saw multiple screenshots, gameplay walkthrough and trailers that gave us chills with each new revealed detail. The ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) rating for the game has also arrived and it confirms that there will be some form of micro-transactions as well.

RE2 Remake is now officially been rated Mature by ESRB for the inclusion of "Blood and Gore, Intense Violence and Strong Language", which of course is no surprise to the fan-base or the players as we already witnessed some gory nastiness in already released media.

The use of micro-transactions however is quite new for everyone in a RE title and since there was no details other than the mention of "In-Game Purchases", we certainly don't know what the game will offer players within the game.

Earlier, Capcom confirmed that players would be able to unlock original classic costumes for Claire and Leon for free. Even bonus missions like HUNK and Tofu is added within the base game and not as an additional downloadable content.

Hopefully, the mention of in-game purchase on the rating is cosmetic items for costumes and weapon skins that wouldn't impact the gameplay in any manner and thus, players will not have to spend more bucks to gain gameplay advantage or unlock extra playable content.

After the developer initially confirming working on Resident Evil 2 Remake back in 2015, it took three more years to have it revealed at E3 2018. Considered as one of the best entries in the entire series, fans have been petitioning for a remake for years and it is finally happening.

Not only does the studio provides a complete graphical overhaul for the title with their revolutionary RE Engine, the franchise is going back to its roots of survival horror in a major way that totally suits its growing legacy and paving ways for more remakes of classic titles.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Reveals Ada Wong Images

Capcom recently releases new batch of screenshots from Resident Evil 2 Remake project, showcasing Ada Wong.

We are only months from Capcom's long-awaited upcoming survival horror game Resident Evil 2 Remake to drop on January 25, 2019 worldwide for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after years of waiting for it to finally come out.

As you eagerly wait for the title to release, a fresh batch of new screenshots from the game has been revealed featuring the redesigned character of Ada Wong, some more of Claire and Leon, the unstoppable tyrant Mr. X and some more monstrosities.

The remake is an overall improvement of the classic from 1998 and development team was careful when modeling these fan-favorite characters and creatures for the project. The re-modeled Ada Wong is a great example of how well the job is done so far.

Though not a main protagonist like street-savvy college student Claire Redfield and rookie RPD cop Leon S. Kennedy, Ada has an important role to play amidst the zombie apocalypse in Raccoon City and at a certain point she becomes a playable character as well.

Many Resident Evil 2 fans were worried that the studio might change Ada Wong's iconic red dress for the remake but they actually had multiple character redesigns for the game. Even Leon and Claire's looks has been reworked a little bit while keeping certain aspects of original outfits retained.

Capcom’s RE Engine has definitely accomplished some great wonders bringing RE2 to life and the visual enhancement of the remake project surpasses what they did with it in Resident Evil 7 a hundred miles in terms of graphics.

The final set of stills has Leon has an encounter with a shotgun-wielding civilian, who most likely to be the Kendo Gun Shop owner, Robert Kendo that he come across at an early point of the game right before he meets his fate to the rabid undeads of the outbreak.

Then a trip to the sewers has him face with a heavily mutated William Birkin that resembles to nothing like a person anymore with only exception of a hand. The first two shots of Birkin had us believed it is a crocodile-human hybrid of some sorts.

Just like Ada from Leon's campaign, young Sherry Birkin from Claire's story will also be playable for a brief time. We also get our first good look at Mr. X and a G-Virus-induced William Birkin, who has mutated to an even reformed stage, which is nearly beyond recognition.

Apparently, the Tyrant monster is chasing Claire and Sherry inside the Raccoon City police station, something that is derived from the original sequel of Resident Evil. To make things worse for Claire, there is also a Licker alongside the Tyrant.

The DLC costumes for Leon includes a Noir costume, which makes his appearance visually similar to detective Sebastian Castellanos from The Evil Within and the Arklay Sheriff costume bears a striking resemblance to Sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes from post-apocalyptic horror TV show, The Walking Dead.

Claire will receive a Military costume that comes with a vest and her Noir costume adds a fedora hat to let you sport a gangsta look. Then there is the unused Elza Walker costume from the scrapped game Resident Evil 1.5, which looks similar to what race car driver wears.

You can already place a pre-order for Resident Evil 2 Remake on Amazon as they are available now. We can see how Capcom is dedicatedly working piece by piece to re-imagining the survivor horror classic for the fans from 90's and the modern generation.

A brand-new gameplay video featuring Claire Redfield was released earlier that showcased the debut of the nightmarish enemy Lickers in the remake with a bunch of new screenshots. We are eagerly waiting for Leon to encounter the dreaded Tyrant monster, Mr. X.

To revive the horror from past, a new Resident Evil 2 Remake gameplay video is released featuring the menacing Lickers.

At Tokyo Game Show 2018 last month, Resident Evil 2 Remake revealed the first-look of mysterious fan-favorite character Ada Wong with screenshots and a new story trailer. Then there was footage of Claire Redfield fighting the dreaded William Birkin/G-monster.

Recently, brand-new gameplay video of Claire fighting horde of monstrous creatures and a deadly class of bio-weapon known as Lickers in a ravaged Raccoon City is released, courtesy of developer/publisher Capcom.

Taken right from Claire's campaign, the video opens up as she comes across an abandoned, dark hallway blocked with furniture and enters a room at her left. She sees a lone Licker is feeding on a victim and another bloodied dead body lies on the floor next to it.

Without wasting a moment, she draws her M79 grenade launcher and blasted it onto flames before putting two more rounds on it. Another one from the wall above is targeted next but this one is a tough cookie to bake and took too many bullets.

Even though there weren't any constraints like a fixed camera angle or their long tongues hanging from above to give players a jump scare for the first time they met, this confrontation was not any less scary than before because of the sheer aggressiveness of these creatures.

On top of that, they constantly jump around to dodge your bullets and will do ranged attack ruthlessly with their razor-sharp talons when in close proximity, which we can tell is pretty lethal judging by the way Claire reacted to it.

After that, she goes inside what it seems like a morgue where she checks the storage to get supplies like Red Herb from an empty one, got creeped out by some huge cockroaches from the next and a Flash Grenade from another with a corpse beside it.

A few of the corpse were feeling the kick of T-Virus to came back to life and attack her, which she repels with one Acid Round, knife and gunshots. Sooner as she came out of the room, a Licker jumped on top of her only to get smoked in one shot.

We are left to see Tyrant monster of T-103 model, also known as Mr. X, whom we had a brief glimpse of from the E3 trailer. HUNK and Robert Kendo will make their debut alongside the giant, mutant Alligator from the sewers.

Resident Evil 2 Story Trailer

The elements of survival horror that made Resident Evil 2 a classic is retold in the new story trailer from TGS 2018.

From the very first reveal and gameplay demo at E3 2018 press conference to more gameplay footage and screenshots from Gamescom 2018, survival horror classic Resident Evil 2 Remake has been slowly spilling the beans to keep us on the edge of hype train seats.

Up until now, what we had been reworked pieces of the story premise that developer/publisher Capcom originally built on 1998. Tokyo Game Show presents new details for the remake in a brand-new clip featuring story of RE2.

What we are looking at is a re-imagined version of the plot for RE2 Remake in this story trailer below from TGS 2018.

Opening up from the scene where Claire finds little Sherry Birkin, asking about her parents and we see former researcher William Birkin turning into G-monster, gaining body mass with a giant eyeball on his shoulder and growling in pain of transformation.

Claire then goes to Raccoon City Police Department while investigating and met an injured officer Marvin Branagh, which probably takes place after the scene where he previously saved Leon by dropping a shutter on an impending zombie.

After momentary display of her gameplay inside RPD, the iconic scene of her first encounter with Leon Kennedy is shown, where he tells her to get down to shoot a zombie and then goes on with many nostalgic moments from the original game.

Their journey to RPD being interrupted and going separate ways are also shown. In short, the story trailer for RE2 Remake shows that Capcom surely put some solid effort for this project and did everything for the game to live up to the standard of 2018.

We see Leon learning of some underground lab while a zombie dog was approaching towards him from behind in a parking lot. He noticed it at the last moment due to the snarling noise it was making and is attacked before he could reach his gun.

However, the dog gets shot by someone and the mysterious Ada Wong reveals herself wearing a trench coat and fedora hat. He tags along with her afterwards thinking she knows something about the outbreak but she dismissed him saying that information's classified.

Meanwhile, Birkin's wife and Sherry's mother Annette sees her husband in security footage, going through rapid changes after his exposure to G-virus and slaying a military team into the sewers in his hulking form.

Next, there are a series of cut scenes where Leon meets G-monster, Claire talking to chief Irons, zombies swarming the streets, an encounter between Ada and Annette for the possession of G-virus samples, a rampaging Birkin and cuts to end with Ada and Leon into the sewer; home of the mutant Alligator.

Up until now, we were already introduced to mysterious Ada Wong, RPD police chief Brian Irons, college student Claire Redfield, rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy, police officer Marvin Branagh, young Sherry Birkin and a heavily G-virus mutated former Umbrella scientist William Birkin so far.

We also had a momentary glimpse of a Tyrant monster of T-103 model, commonly known as Mr. X on the E3 trailer. The debut of Annette Birkin and the zombie dog reminds us that we are waiting for HUNK and Robert Kendo next.

There was a "zapping system" in Resident Evil 2 for an "A" story and a "B" story, which the remake is completely scrapping down. This classic is revived with Capcom's revolutionary RE Engine to render each character with photo-realism. Not long ago, we expected a trailer to drop that will showcase more of Ada Wong and here it is.

What we want now is another one with special agent HUNK of the Umbrella Security Service leading his Alpha Team into the G-virus sample retrieving mission from Dr. Birkin and hopefully we will get that ahead of release.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Ada Wong First Look

Recent leak on Reddit shows a glimpse of Ada Wong’s updated look from 2019's Resident Evil 2 Remake.

One of the most anticipated video game projects, which is survival horror classic Resident Evil 2 Remake that developer/publisher Capcom was working on has been publicly revealed at E3 2018 press conference and the fan-reception was more than what they were expecting.

We have taken a look at protagonist Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Marvin Branagh, Sherry and William Birkin so far. It's time for us to take our first look at Ada Wong from 2019's version of the game.

Recently leaked on Reddit, the look that Ada Wong is sporting in Resident Evil 2 Remake is a fit with other redesigned characters from the franchise. We are still waiting for some official image of her but for now, her look seems different than what we saw over the years and the length of her role is still unspecified.

She completely resembles to a detective from 1950's and all she is missing is a fedora hat. Despite the humor, this undercover appearance suits well with her shady character.

Developers have either completely gotten rid of her sexy red attire she has been sporting for the last two decades or she might be wearing that underneath her trench coat. Ada’s design also includes a gray scarf around her neck and sunglasses to complete her updated look.

We saw Claire and Leon going through some changes but by far, her designs are the ones that have received a complete overhaul. RE2 Remake's director Kazunori Kadori has shared his thoughts on her new design.

I think wandering around in that dress just getting on with your job as a spy probably doesn't look as realistic and believable as we want in this game.

20 years have passed since the original RE2 has been released and fan-favorites characters have gone through changes as the series progressed. Debuted in the titular game in 1998, Ada Wong is a mysterious anti-hero that crossed paths with two of the heroes.

Later, she appeared on Resident Evil 4 working for Albert Wesker and then in Resident Evil 6, pursuing her own ends. The live-action version of the character was played by actress Li Bingbing in the film Resident Evil: Retribution.

Capcom May Remake Resident Evil Remaster

While the world waits for the release of Resident Evil 2 Remake, Capcom is considering more remake projects.

Before they made a showcase of Resident Evil 2 Remake at E3 2018 press conference to an overwhelmingly positive response, even developer/publisher Capcom may not have thought that it could work out so good for them and now they are interested to keep rolling.

We heard jokes about their plan of making a remake of the 2015's remaster version of the original zombie shooter game Resident Evil of 1996 but apparently, developers at Capcom were not kidding about it at all.

Despite the temporary debacle regarding an overpriced typewriter included in the $900 worth Premium Edition of the game, fans have been nothing else but extremely supportive towards the upcoming release and that tells the company how much crazy people are over the world about the RE franchise.

Capcom even attempted of teasing Resident Evil 3 Remake by Tweeting an image of the game's villain Nemesis from their official Twitter account on Friday the 13th of July this year.

RELATED: Capcom Teasing Resident Evil 3 Remake?

Needless to say, this Tweet has also ignited fire to fan's hype over more Remake projects on RE games in the future and Capcom neither defended nor denied the claim. During Gamescom 2018, director Kazunori Kadoi talks about their plans in an interview and says that, they are only concerned about January 25 right now.

Of course, they would love to explore the possibilities in future with other potential classic titles but at this very moment, they are not willing to commit to anything in advance.

He believes that enough time has passed that they can remake the Resident Evil HD Remaster version and it won't look ridiculous. Besides, the idea of remake the remake is something they would love to work with and that is not for the sake of milking the franchise.

So much more could be done with a revamped fan-favorite game without feeding to nostalgia. A generation wide gap could bridge up between modern day players and seasoned veterans of Resident Evil series.

"Certainly enough time has passed that it wouldn’t be laughable to remake the remake. I personally think that would be an interesting thing to do."
RELATED: Resident Evil 2 Remake Collector’s Edition Announced

Capcom also requests fans to not call the 2019's upcoming game as a remake, because they are simply revisiting old settings with a slightly altered storyline. Familiar faces like Claire Redfield and Sherry Birkin are being reimagined 20 years after their original debut.

Experience of the Spencer Mansion and Racoon City Police Department are brought back for fans to revisit. Since the 2002 HD Remaster is acclaimed for graphics and gameplay, they want to slightly tinker with that for improvement.

RELATED: Resident Evil 2 Remake Premium Edition Announced

If Capcom wants people to go back to the roots of their survival horror legacy from the very beginning with Resident Evil 2 Remake, it essentially isn't a bad thing at all. Games like Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 4 would probably top at most fan's remake list when they do.

At least, it would allow players to enjoy those classic titles on modern day gaming platforms like PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Claire Redfield Gameplay Demo

Straight out of Gamescom 2018, Capcom releases a gameplay demo of Claire Redfield from Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Despite having a release date scheduled for next year, survival horror game Resident Evil 2 Remake from developer/publisher Capcom is creating a buzz all the time after being revealed at E3 2018 press conference.

At the ongoing Gamescom 2018, a new batch of screenshot featuring the game's second lead Claire Redfield is dropped earlier from her campaign mode and fans lost their minds. Wait until you take a look at the new gameplay demo where she gets into some real action.

The video opens up with Claire trying to reach out to young Sherry Birkin, a little girl trying to hide behind boxes and then a monstrous figure shows up from behind, who turns out to be a G-Virus infected William Birkin, former researcher of Umbrella.

She immediately draws her gun and fight for survival begins as she tries to fend her against the G-monster as it constantly chases her with a pipe and she shots fire at him from her iconic M79 grenade launcher to smoke him for good.

However, the endgame of the fight is not shown but it is implied that she somehow managed to drive away Birkin and as she both try to get out with Sherry, they come across corrupt Chief Brian Irons who holds Claire at gunpoint before the video fades out.

Initially, the reason for her arrival in the city was to find her brother Chris Redfield but she got tangled into the zombie outbreak instead that has ravaged the entire city and met another survivor, who is rookie cop Leon S Kennedy.

This is the first time we got a good look at Claire Redfield gameplay footage following her debut at E3. Though some people are saying that she resembles to Zoey, a character from another survival horror title Left 4 Dead, she still looks amazing in her reinvented design.

Capcom previously mentioned that they are getting rid of the "zapping system", so that players don't require taking turn at stories in Resident Evil 2 Remake when it releases on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
