Resident Evil 4 Remake to Feature Expanded Story

Capcom is likely to change Resident Evil 4 gameplay and feature an "expanded" story, according to leaker AestheticGamer.

Back in April 2020, reports of developer/publisher Capcom working on Resident Evil 4 Remake with a planned release window of 2022 came out shortly after release of highly-anticipated survival horror game Resident Evil 3 Remake.

Latest information from reputed leaker AestheticGamer1 reveals that upcoming RE4 Remake can make some changes to original gameplay and may even feature expanded story elements, adding lore for 2005 action-horror release.

When asked by a Twitter user about new changes in Resident Evil 4 gameplay and premise lately, AestheticGamer1 reveals that Capcom would much likely to expand upon its original story to an extent and revamp gameplay.

When RE4 came out on Nintendo GameCube, it single-handedly revolutionized entire Resident Evil franchise forever. Capcom needs to update the game and move away from RE2 and RE3 Remake to impress new generation of players.

While citing it's too early at this point to talk about anything before an official announcement, he randomly points out that Capcom is greatly expanding story and one of them revolves around iconic chainsaw-wielding villager Dr. Salvador.

Salvador was initially introduced in Resident Evil 4 as Chainsaw Man, a Plaga infected Ganado enemy type wearing a burlap potato sack that would chop off heads of any stranger on sight with a revving chainsaw and won't go down easily.

During a recent interview in May 2020, Resident Evil 3 Remake game director Kiyohiko Sakata reveals that Capcom changed Nemesis to make a connection with Resident Evil 4, low-key confirming that a remake being in development.

Aside from attacking targets, Nemesis is given abilities to create a new zombie-type called "Tentacle Head". You can take what AestheticGamer1 said with some level of certainty, given his past record on Resident Evil: Village leaks so far.

In recent remake of Resident Evil 3, a popular character was completely left out from ending sequence. Capcom didn't offer multiple endings like 1999 classic and even removed popular Mercenaries mode, which was disappointing.

Capcom will soon be venturing into another modern-day remake project with Resident Evil 4 Remake for the third time, following blockbuster success of Resident Evil 2 (2019) and its slightly less appreciated sequel Resident Evil 3 (2020).

Resident Evil 4 Remake Reportedly in Works

According to reports, Capcom is currently working on a Resident Evil 4 Remake with M-Two for a 2022 release.

Shortly after releasing anticipated survival horror title Resident Evil 3 Remake earlier this month, developer/publisher Capcom asked fans through an online survey that which Resident Evil game they would like to see up next.

Fans were wondering which title should be considered by Capcom for reimagining up next and reportedly, Resident Evil 4 Remake is now under full development with a planned release window of 2022, according to website VGC.

Capcom has handed over this project to M-Two, a new studio founded by former Platinum Games CEO Tatsuya Minami and this Osaka-based developer was apparently prepping to handle RE4 Remake project from 2018.

Internal dev teams and third-party studios will lend support as they did for Resident Evil 3 Remake. Original game director Shinji Mikami was approached to helm RE4 Remake, which he denied but gave advice on its direction.

Though M-Two contributed to development of RE3 Remake but their primary focus has always been Resident Evil 4 since 2018. However, there is no word on whether any original Resident Evil 4 team members will be involved at all.

2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 already added new zombie-type called "Tentacle Head" that are a variant of regular undead created by Nemesis, as a nod to Las Plagas parasite infused Ganado enemies from RE4, which followed a religious cult.
