Valve Rumored to Develop VR Headset for Half-Life Prequel

According to a series of leaked image, Valve is developing new VR headset for what seems like a Half-Life prequel game.

Before getting into the business of running digital distribution platform for video games via Steam, Valve Corporation used to be the developer studio that Half-Life and Left 4 Dead series of games, none of which got a third installment in nearly a decade.

According to leaked images from online image sharing community site Imgur, Valve is currently working on and soon will unveil their very own VR headset that is completely separate from the HTC Vive gear they are supporting right now.

These leaked images found by UploadVR suggest that the Valve device is still in prototype stage but they are trying to make it equivalent to the HTC display of virtual reality technology that will offer a 135 degree field of view when finished.

They appear to have two cameras and integrated headphones included in it with possibility of adding new "Knuckles" motion controllers. The same source also hinted that this gadget could come out bundled with a brand-new Half-Life game from the company.

Apparently, this one is not the long-awaited Half-Life 3 but a prequel game that would feature the return of Dr. Gordon Freeman into fighting aliens once again. The fictional immersive world Valve built around this game was loved by fans but they decided to continue with Portal series instead.

Although they came up with two more episodes for Half-Life 2, a third game is still stuck at planning stage as it seems. So, we suggest you take any mystery news of a prequel or a brand-new sequel with grain of salt.

Back in March, President Gabe Newell of Valve have announced that the studio is returning back to video game development and they simply are not indicating their upcoming digital collectible card game Artifact by that. The company decided to start shipping games again after developing them.

For years, there were also rumors flying on live-actions movies being pitched for Half-Life and Portal franchise too. With their newly developed VR compatible software and hardware, Valve may come back to dominate the video game market once again.

However, this is not the first time enthusiast fans of the acclaimed first-person shooter series are hearing of a potential Half-Life game whether it is on VR or not. In 2016, players found the phrase "HLVR" in Dota 2 by digging deep inside the code and then their Steam VR app also had a mention of it as well.

We even heard about multiple projects on the fan-favorite franchise being pitched or maybe development but never saw a single one coming after Half-Life 2: Episode 2 in 2007. Let's just hope that the rumors turn out to be true this time.

DayZ Beta Live Now

After spending half a decade, DayZ is about to leave Early Access on Steam and Beta goes live now as 1.0 version.

Developer/publisher Bohemia Interactive started their journey of open world multiplayer survival game DayZ that was built as a mod for Arma 2 in 2012. It was launched via Early Access on Steam for PC back in 2013 as they were running alpha testing.

After spending half a decade in that phase for slow development progress, the studio is finally launched an experimental "beta" version as 1.0 release after making an announcement earlier in their official blog and it is available for public.

RELATED: DayZ Leaving Early Access in 2018

Initially, the mod's creator, Dean Hall came to work for Bohemia to work on the Arma franchise when he took a leave from New Zealand army. He was inspired from a real-life experience of a training exercise that led him to create zombie survival game.

With permission from the company, Hall created the DayZ mod for Arma 2 and then released it as a free download. People simply loved it and within months, have amassed a staggering number of over half a million players.

RELATED: Days Gone Delayed Again

This made Bohemia Interactive to seriously consider the mod to turn it into a stand-alone game. When Valve's online distribution platform Steam unleashed the second wave of big Early Access titles, it came out selling a million copies in just four weeks.

Although they targeted to release a beta version of the game before the end of 2014, the team of development has struggled to deliver what they promised to their fans. They only managed to revamp the game engine and expanded Chernarus map.

RELATED: Amnesia: Collection on Xbox One Out Now

The problem was, without fixing the already existing issues and fixing bugs, the studio was busy adding additional features to it. Meanwhile, Hall moved on with founding his own studio and director Brian Hicks left the project on early 2018.

However, rest of the team finally pulled it off by releasing the experimental beta build and came to a decision of preparing a stable 1.0 version with all available content by January 2019 by putting a stop to their usual feature developing practice.

RELATED: DayZ Coming to Xbox One

Since their core technology development is done for, Bohemia Interactive can now center their focus on polishing and making balance tweaks. Some of you may or may not have noticed some of the fixed issues in the past week already if you are still playing.

Given the overall situation, they made the right call of prioritizing their primary promise to the already existing 1 million players from the early days who believed in them and bought an unfinished game and to many more to come in future.

Final Fantasy XV DLC Cancelled

Square Enix cancelled upcoming four DLC episodes for Final Fantasy XV. Also, game director Hajime Tabata quits the company.

Back in April, developer/publisher Square Enix of action role-playing game Final Fantasy XV announced additional content for the 2016 game in a panel at PAX East, which includes four new episodes planned to release on 2019.

Today, they revealed in a livestream that three of these four expansion packs are cancelled. On top of that, game director Hajime Tabata is also confirmed to have left the company after finishing his last work day on October 31. This is just too much to take in, right?

Before the unexpected official announcement, these character-focused episodes include Aranea, Ardyn, Lunafreye and Noctis were to offer side stories and an alternate finale. Except for episode Ardyn, rest three is scrapped now.

Ardyn is currently scheduled to release in March 2019 and the events of this episode takes place before the story of FFXV, where players have the chance to take the role of Ardyn Izunia, the main antagonist of the game.

Luminous Productions, an internal studio of Square Enix were in charge of developing these content add-ons will now focus on developing a brand-new AAA title for global market since they are no longer tasked to the DLC episodes anymore.

On director Hajime Tabata quitting the studio, the official statements mentioned him resigning back in October, probably in pursuit of founding his own company. He sincerely thanked all of the loyal fans in his resignation letter for supporting the game for years.

When Square Enix initially released plans for bringing more content to Final Fantasy XV, fans were convinced that the game will never end considering the title was originally announced back in 2006 before it saw release in 2016, exactly ten years later.

Unfortunately, that certainly is not the case at hand until further development because according to one of their earnings report, this executive decision of cancelling the DLCs resulted in a tremendous amount of loss of around $33 million.

World of Warcraft: Lost Honor – Cinematic

Battle for Azeroth had Saurfang of Horde captured by Alliance but now he returns to fight for a different side.

The newest expansion of World of Warcraft, Battle for Azeroth has upstaged an epic conflict between two major factions, Alliance and Horde that resulted in heavy damage on both sides but most importantly, Horde General Varok Saurfang was captured.

During the opening ceremony of their BlizzCon 2018 annual event, news and updates regarding upcoming patch for the game was discussed and new videos were dropped. One of these clips focuses on the disgraced Horde warrior and reflects on what is coming next.

The cinematic trailer shows a confrontation between King Anduin Wrynn and his prisoner of war Varok Saurfang, regarding the allegiance to their people.

In Battle for Lordaeron, Sylvanas Windrunner unleashed her genocidal fury upon both the Alliance and Horde, which equally scared everyone. As Alliance King Anduin look at their last few remaining soldiers wondering what they did wrong, he is reminded by Genn Greymane that he is doing everything he can to stop the Banshee Queen.

He then goes to the cell where Saurfang is currently kept and asked why he didn't kill Anduin when he had the chance in Lordaeron? The veteran points out that he could kill him now but he wants his old Horde back, which Sylvanas is destroying.

RELATED: World of Warcraft: Warbringers: Sylvanas

Anduin asks him again why Anduin spared him and to which, the Orc simply states that he thought it would stop her but the Alliance King replies, he can't do it alone. He then left the gate open while his prisoner states at him.

Just like the Horde’s most honorable soldier was previously spared by him for his sense of honor, he spared the Alliance King in hopes that it would probably stop destroying everything that his people stood for throughout ages.

Within the next few months, the newest patch "Tides of Vengeance" will release for World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth and players will witness how this new alliance between two honorable leaders changes the tide of battle.

The conflict of interest that has put Saurfang against his ruthless Warchief will surely have some grave ramification in the upcoming battle and maybe even led to something that he has been seeking for so long, if you know what we mean by that!

Hitman 2 Live-Action Launch Trailer

Hitman 2 official live-action launch trailer brings back Sean Bean as elusive target Mark Faba, "The Undying".

The release of Hitman 2 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as an upcoming rebooted sequel from the stealth video game series Hitman from developer IO Interactive and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive is only a week away, on 13 November 2018.

So far, the game looks impressive and it comes with a lot of improvements to gameplay elements. A trailer is just released to celebrate the launch of the game and with that actor Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Oath) returns to play an in-game character.

Watch the live-action launch trailer for Hitman 2 as Sean Bean narrates the nature of an assassin in his usual charisma.

The role Sean is playing in the game is of an Elusive Target named Mark Faba but he is mostly known to people as "The Undying". In the previous trailer, he came for a therapy session and opened up about his life before shooting down the counselor, revealing him to be an assailant sent to kill him.

He now explains that a true assassin doesn't need a silencer pistol or a hidden blade, instead he should use his head to become the master of his craft. He then shows using a rubber ducky as a detonator and toilet flush as a distraction noise for others.

RELATED: Xbox Game Pass Adds Sniper Elite 4 and More

To be innovative while on work you can take a weird disguise by wearing a huge mascot suit and then use a big fish, boat, a frying pan, a steel pipe or propane tank to hit your target. Electrocuting them is not off the table as well.

As he was closing his statement and takes a sip of his drink, it is implied that he was served by the silent killer protagonist who purposefully spilled poison in the glass previously. He then goes outside blending into the crowd after changing into his work dress.

On a lighter note, the actor opened up with UNILAD Gaming about his experience to become the elusive target Mark Faba in Hitman 2 and you shouldn't miss it.

Considering how every character Sean Bean ever plays always end up dying, his role as "The Undying" is quite a pun here. Because, not only is he going down one way or another, he hinted to bite the dust pretty easily according to what the trailer suggests.

The game is a follow up to Hitman from 2016, which stated to revamp the whole franchise but the lead, Agent 47 remains the same in his role. You can pre-order from the Standard, Silver, Gold or Collector's Edition of the game if you haven't already.

Picking his cowboy hat and holster after leaving a dime on the table, he goes outside and sees a group of military hardware traffickers robbing the train. One of them sees him and runs back to their leader, Ashe stating they got trouble.

It is then revealed that he was running scared to see Jesse McCree, who seems to know Ashe and apparently have shared past together. After their initial sarcastic greeting, McCree says he only want a certain crate from their loot and is not interested in their business.

When her omnic companion B.O.B. opens it up, she asks him what it is but he tries to dodge the question. This irked Ashe and minions of her Deadlock Gang starts taking position on Jesse in a Wild West fashion until he made his move on them.

He quickly incapacitated the gang by drawing his six-shooter Peacekeeper but they cornered him with concentrated fire. He throws out a couple of grenades at them and shoots the pins off mid-air to knock them all off at once before restraining the group.

Ashe wakes up to see her including the gang tied up while McCree opens the crate and pulls an omnic out that calls him her partner. Jokingly telling her to say hi to the monkey for him (Winston) he heads to attend to some unfinished business somewhere.

Warcraft 3: Reforged Announced

Blizzard Entertainment is bringing back their classic RTS title in an all-new HD remastered version as Warcraft 3: Reforged.

The question that arose back in February 2018 that whether developer/publisher Blizzard Entertainment will release a remastered version of their fantasy real-time strategy game Warcraft III is finally answered at BlizzCon 2018 today and we couldn't be happier.

During their opening ceremony, Blizzard took the stage to offer everyone a glimpse of their reworked version of the game, now branded as Warcraft III: Reforged and it simply recaptures the intensity when it was first launched back in 2002.

It also got an updated installer with changed interface then alongside other fan-favorite titles like Diablo II and StarCraft to make them compatible for modern systems. From then, speculations started to fly from fans about a Remastered Edition.

Because undersea world is no central park, you might want to use the submarine called the Nautilon, which is equipped for combat and mining while having a nice navigation system. The best part is that you can summon the vehicle to any ocean on the planet.

When not riding over your exocraft, you can simply park it over to some of those sunken buildings. This submarine is available for customization and installed upgrade will make the craft unique than the others floating around.

We are not much sure about recommending Killing Floor, Soma, XCOM 2 and Zombie Army Trilogy from the same bid though. Both survival horror title Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster and original Resident Evil HD Remaster goes up on 60%.

The base game of Dead by Daylight has offered 50% and there is a bunch of add-on content from the game as well as Dying Light that put forward 33-35% at best. We leave these completely on you. Outlast 2 however, is a nice catch at a whopping 70%.

Titles like 7 Days to Die (64%), Dead Rising 4 (30%), For Honor (33%), Killing Floor 2 (67%), Prey (50%), Resident Evil 7 (35%) and Vampyr (33%) are either not worth going for at this reduction rate because they are worth the wait for a greater deal.

We also opted out from picking some of the games from the sale even though they had a serious discount slapped on them, simply because they weren't worth the bucks for this festive season. Nevertheless, you don't need to be influenced by us and can still pick them up if you really want to.
