Far Cry 6 Will Be Revealed at UbiForward Event

Following major leaks, Ubisoft announces to reveal Far Cry 6 at UbiForward digital event on July 12, 2020.

There was already some rumor about developer/publisher Ubisoft planning to release Far Cry 6 in 2021, which has recently been leaked accidentally at Hong Kong PlayStation Store with a set release date, plot premise and more details.

Unable to prevent their games being leaked online, Ubisoft had to take Twitter to acknowledge FC6 has been under development for some time now and will officially be announced during upcoming UbiForward event on July 12, 2020.

Now that E3 2020 is cancelled due to worldwide pandemic of COVID-19, more studio-centric digital events will feature upcoming anticipated titles and Ubisoft will showcase Far Cry 6 alongside other first-party games at UbiForward.

By now, leaks have confirmed that Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito (Dear White People, The Mandalorian) will be starring as primary antagonist named Anton Castillo for latest Far Cry game, who is a dictator of a tropical paradise.

Instead of freaking out, Ubisoft has reacted calmly by releasing a short clip of FC6 villain Anton Castillo.

Earlier this month, Giancarlo teased in an interview saying he has worked on a role for a major video game. He doesn't do much other than lighting a cigar in his brief presence above but his appearance is more than enough to create hype.

Giancarlo Esposito had been around for long and become widely known for his role of drug kingpin Gus Fring in AMC crime drama series and his past performance assures that he will be the next legendary bad guy of Far Cry franchise.

Also to point out that during an AMA session on Reddit back in April, Canadian actor Michael Mando (Better Call Saul, Spider-Man: Homecoming) has hinted at reprising his iconic role of Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3 very soon.

Despite having a tradition of all Far Cry game characters and story premise being separate from each another, FC6 may turn out to be a prequel to FC3 after all and there is a major possibility of Vaas eventually returning back to series.

Keen-eyes on Twitter have also picked some hints for Vaas already being featured in leaked cover image.

In leaked Far Cry 6 key-art found in PlayStation Store lately, Anton is shown standing over his son, Diego. There is a small scar on the young boy's eyebrow that is slightly above his forehead and it nicely lines up with the one Vaas had.

Given early tease from these actors and details found through leaks, Far Cry 6 will surely be an interesting game. Ubisoft has probably found a way to interconnect events of Rook Islands to Yara of FC6 and is now ready to unveil that soon.

Although leaks are obviously disappointing for any company, they played an integral role in creating hype for UbiForward event to show off games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Watch Dogs: Legion as well.

Far Cry 6 is reportedly arriving February 18, 2021 for current-gen consoles with free upgrades for next-gen. Instead of Steam storefront, Windows PC version will most likely be available on Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store at launch.

Far Cry 6 Leaked on PlayStation Network

Shortly ahead of a surprise reveal, first look of Far Cry 6 got leaked on Hong Kong PlayStation Network.

In February 2020, developer/publisher Ubisoft confirmed working on five AAA-titles that they are planning to release between April 2020 and March 2021, two of which rumoredly were Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6.

Most recently, screenshots for a leaked product listing of FC6 on Hong Kong PlayStation Store has spilled more information than fans were looking for including an apparent release date, its primary villain character and much more.

Far Cry 6 leak confirms actor Giancarlo Esposito (Dear White People, The Mandalorian), whom many would recognize as ruthless drug lord Gus Fring from hit crime drama series Breaking Bad will be serving as main antagonist for the game.

Giancarlo will be playing as a dictator named Anton Castillo and he is featured in FC6 box art standing with his son, Diego. His role in a major video game franchise is not a surprise though as it was teased earlier this month on social media.

Far Cry 6 takes place in fictional location of Yara, which will be the largest open-world in entire series till date. Player character Dani Rojas is a local rebel who joins a growing a revolution to stand against oppression of Anton's regime.

Ubisoft was probably preparing to officially announce new Far Cry game during Ubisoft Forward digital event on July 12 but it unfortunately got leaked online revealing an artwork, February 18, 2021 release date and a brief plot summery.

On digital purchase from PlayStation Store, next-gen upgrade to PlayStation 5 version of FC6 will be delivered for free of cost when available. PSN leak has also revealed a Discos Locos weapon and a Chorizo skin as pre-order bonus.

Despite belonging to first-person shooter genre, Far Cry series is well-known for its iconic bad guys, a growing trend set by Vaas from Far Cry 3. Esposito seems like a perfect choice for Far Cry 6 villain character given his legendary TV history.
