We Happy Few: They Came From Below DLC Out Now

First DLC of We Happy Few complete with rampaging robots in "Roger & James in They Came From Below" is available now.

Despite best efforts of developer Compulsion Games and backings from Microsoft Studios, action-adventure game We Happy Few turned out to be a disappointment for many when Gearbox Publishing launched it on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

However, their development team still worked on expanding story of the main game with its first ever downloadable content pack in "They Came From Below", which is currently out now on all available platforms.

Players will be exploring this new plot as Roger, armed with a Ray Gun for both melee and range attacks. He is aided by James who is a former soldier and his goofy partner, often remaining in contact through a walkie-talkie.

There is theme of James regressing his feelings for Roger even though all mostly he does is question every actions of his associate, which possibly is a result of a dystopian era of a society they live in, where no one would accept this unlikely couple.

Other than buying separately, They Came From Below DLC will be accessible by owning Digital Deluxe version of the game or getting Season Pass with base game. More content packs similar to this one will likely to come from Compulsion Games in future as well.

Ditching regular role-playing and survival tone, We Happy Few took a bit of classic sci-fi route for their newest content to offer a different take at core story. If you manage to save Wellington Wells from these mechanized menace, more stories with come later.

We Happy Few Secret Ending!

Survival horror title We Happy Few offers players a secret ending without forcing him to go through all the troubles.

Psychedelic horror game with action-adventure elements, We Happy Few from Compulsion Games and Gearbox Publishing is finally out for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although the game is slightly undermined after release despite much anticipation that was build around by player following its reveal, the game has a vivid interactive world and an engaging story. Recently, a shortcut is found to end the game very quickly without facing the twist and turn of events to reach conclusion.

To get the secret ending, you will start with Arthur Hastings' story after the game begins and he will be running his Redactor device to check and remove reference sources of tragedies regarding mind-altering campaigns of Wellington Wells. He will come across an article that refers to a tragic past regarding his younger brother Percy. This presents a quick turn of events to players with a choice to take a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy" to remove his sadness or try to think freely.

To go ahead and see what challenges the world of WHF has in store for you; most players would refrain from taking the pill. On the contrary, if Arthur ends up taking the Joy pill, he will go back to his happy life without ever meeting other playable characters Sally and Ollie to dig deep about the dark secrets the city hides from everyone. In recent memory, similar hidden ending was found in Ubisoft's action-adventure FPS title Far Cry 5, where you could see the game end in 10 minutes.

If the idea of playing though the entire plot in a British dystopia of 60's doesn't seem that appealing to you at all then you can always take the low road and get away. Of course, any gamer under normal circumstances would generally want to go through the entire story of the game once they get their hands on it but for some unknown reason, Compulsion Games decided to let people take a quick exit. So, anyone is looking for a quick way out to end credits, you know now how to get there.

Adding this secret ending was a fine nod to display how an indulged populace has become a social norm these days and how taking less aggressive actions can sometime get you out of situations. We Happy Few entered Steam's Early Access program after a successful Kickstarter crowd funding campaign and upon being delayed back in January, they even offered a refund. Finally, things were sorted out when Microsoft Studios acquired the studio and helped them launch the game on 10 August 2018.

Compulsion Games introduces We Happy Few’s final playable character Ollie Starkey.

Developer Compulsion Games along with publisher Gearbox Publishing and Microsoft Studios will take you to a tour of alternate reality 60's English town Wellington Wells in We Happy Few to assume different roles of an enlightened citizen, who is trying to escape the surroundings of drug-induced inhabitants after discovering deep dark secrets of it no one tells you about. Today, we are here with the final playable character of the game, Ollie Starkey as it is only days away from being released.

Just like Arthur and Sally, Ollie had an awakening about the fact that the retro-futuristic city they live in has some terrible dark past and a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy" is doing that. Being a mad Scotsman and ex-soldier, he is not liked by everyone around him and he hates television celebrity Uncle Jack but he has an invisible friend though. Despite pitted against all odds, he did keep his Scottish heritage intact and even managed to survive in the Garden District nearing old train station.

On their take on Ollie's character, art director Whitney Clayton wanted to go for someone who is a tough nut to crack. While he is still wearing his old military jacket and old army boots, he is more than a soldier who notices the anomaly of his society. Although he may not remember all of his past in entirety, he finds purpose in life upon discovering secrets of the Victory Memorial Camp. Like the other two playable figures, Ollie Starkey has his unique perks and abilities that will help him uncover the truth.

Compulsion Games introduces mysterious playable character Sally Boyle from We Happy Few.

Away from only little longer than a week, psychedelic horror game We Happy Few from Compulsion Games, Gearbox Publishing and Microsoft Studios is scheduled to launch on 10 August, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox One X. One of the few people that see through the dark history of the city of Wellington Wells is Sally Boyle and she is in a race against time to run away from her terrible neighbors. While the artificially-enthused society around her constantly wants her to indulge in a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy", she is looking for a way out of this forced madness upon them. For her grooviest fashion sense, Sally is deemed as a wonderful girl in this alternative reality, retro-futuristic city of 1960's England.

Aside from being a chemist who assists one of the doctors in creating Joy, she is very dazzling and witty. During her character design process, art director Whitney Clayton wanted her to be both a clever chemist and an iconic social figure that everyone knows. However, her glamorous and smart outlook is just a front to hide her secret past that can get her killed if it ever comes out. Her unique appearance and stance is heavily inspired by 60's fashion models like Twiggy and Edie Sedgwick.

We Happy Few Introduces Arthur Hastings

Compulsion Games introduces We Happy Few’s first playable character Arthur Hastings.

Psychedelic horror game We Happy Few was previously scheduled to release worldwide on April 13, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Featuring three different campaigns, protagonist Arthur’s story from the game needed more work to accomplish the desired look they were trying to achieve; therefore it was pushed back to summer 2018. Now that it is finally set to release on 10 August 2018, we are here to discuss about its first playable character Arthur Hastings.

In a 60's English town Wellington Wells, Arthur is a common man working to censor newspaper archives off offending stories. When he came across old news about him and his younger brother, he refused to take a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy", which everyone else in town has been indulged with. So, in an attempt to dug deep and discover the truth, he discovers a dark history of his retro-futuristic city that everyone else is cheerfully denying everyday with their Joy pills.

He may be a man of plain appearance that wouldn't drive attention of the onlookers and very easy to miss in a crowd but like two other playable characters of the game, he has his unique ability perks. Art director Whitney Clayton designed Arthur's character based on typical awkward people pushed around by his peers. Sporting a nerdy look in glasses and a thin frame, he is good at running away and it is very crucial for survival. He is also pretty good with melee weapons like a club.

Microsoft Studios have later acquired the studio in June 2018 and everything came back in right track.

We Happy Few is Delayed Again

Previously planned to release on April 13, Compulsion Games and Gearbox Publishing have pushed back We Happy Few to summer of 2018.

A psychedelic horror game from indie developer studio Compulsion Games and Gearbox Publishing, We Happy Few will take you to a mid-60's English town, Wellington Wells for a survival experience of a hallucinogenic drug known as "Joy". Previously, the game had an initial release date set for April 13, 2018 to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One worldwide. However, if you were looking forward to get into that adventure city, you will have to wait a bit longer than you have expected before, according to the developers.

Below is an important production update from developer Compulsion Games by producer Guillaume Provost and COO Sam Abbott that sheds light on the matter we are talking about here in a brand-new story teaser.

RELATED: SteamWorld Dig 2 Release Date

The high hopes of entering in an alternate reality jolly old England of the 1960's through the game We Happy Few is once again delayed and the developers got good reason for that. So far, they are already done completing all the content they intended for this game but after some observation, they realized that the title could use some more work to be better than it is now and for that to happen, they will need some more time to give it some polish and it will delay the project.

RELATED: We Happy Few Coming to PlayStation 4

All Compulsion Games wants to do is to change and rebuild the first few hours of We Happy Few to give it their desired look and that pushes the game to summer of 2018. The game featured three different campaigns to play with and one of them needs some more work, which is the protagonist Arthur’s story. So, the dev team is pausing and getting back to it again to give meanings to his narrative. The end of the video also reveals another main character of the game, Sally and there is still one more to reveal.

Beginning with a Kickstarter campaign, We Happy Few successfully entered Early Access on Steam and for Xbox One with favorable response. The game already left a bad impression to the eagerly anticipating players when it was priced for $60 for being a "full sized, retail game". Developers are currently offering a refund opportunity for anyone who already purchased the game on Early Access and they will remove the game from Steam on February 1 until a later day near release.

We Happy Few Coming to PlayStation 4

Origially planned to release on PC and Xbox One, We Happy Few is now confirmed for PlayStation 4 as well.

Have you ever wondered living in a town where you could have sent your sorrows and sufferings away instantly and being joyous whenever you want? Well, even if there isn't anything like that exists, yet Compulsion Games have decided to create a video game titled "We Happy Few" that is set in an alternate timeline of 1960's English town, Wellington Wells. Previously, the game had a release date of April 13, 2018, for PC and Xbox One. PlayStation 4 however, was not included in their plan initially.

In We Happy Few, you are allowed to travel around the indulged city, meet interesting characters and discover dark secrets of Wellington Wells town as three different individuals with their unique standpoint. This actually makes the game even more interesting than its setting which is already pretty different than most of the games we know in general. According to your characters gameplay style, you can either choose to sneak out of trouble or just blend into the crowd if you have to.

You can also choose to fight your way out clash too but that is entirely up to you. All you have to make sure is that you don't get caught as a Downer, who rejects the idea of taking their Joy pills, which you wouldn't want the townsfolk to find out of course. Though We Happy Few is a first-person action-adventure game, at times, you may think that you are playing a survival horror game without undead corpse. Then again, residents of Wellington Wells acting weirdly don't make them any better than zombies.

The game will cost you a total of $59.99 on PlayStation 4 when it gets out but if you think that you will really appreciate a price-cut then you can pre-order and get a 15% off. That is a sweet deal!
