Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Free Demo on Switch

Fans of Monster Hunter series gets to enjoy a free game demo of MHGU on Nintendo Switch prior to release.

A little while ago, developer/publisher Capcom announced their decision of porting action role-playing game Monster Hunter Generations to Nintendo Switch as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. The game has already debuted for Japan last year and waiting for a worldwide release on August 28, 2018. Ahead of their scheduled release date on Nintendo next gen handheld console, a free demo will be available at eShop for all the eagerly waiting Switch owners from August 16th.

The title is not just a mere port of the 2015 Nintendo 3DS game Monster Hunter Generations but an expanded version, which is also enhanced with brand-new additional content that fans will appreciate. Apparently, when it was on the 3DS platform, there were 73 monsters rampaging around and now that count has been upped by another 20, making it a total of 93. Also, there are two new Hunting Styles called, Brave and Alchemy you need to learn aside from newly added Hunter Arts.

Back then, when it was originally released in 2016, the game was quite successful despite having popularity within a relatively small fan-base and thus, started to gain extensive recognition. Upon the release of Monster Hunter: World in early 2018, this action-RPG franchise has eventually become a global phenomenon. However, seasoned players of MHW should take time getting into the gameplay of MHGU as there are more hunting styles to master and many monsters to slay.

Many who have came to know about the series playing MHW this year may find MHGU very different but should not worry at all as the game is on Switch. So, you can carry it around and can get started anywhere in your free time. Known giants like Barioth, Congalala and Diablos have joined in Generations with two new additional monsters; Valstrax and Ahtal-Ka. Capcom reveals that the demo will feature all six Hunting Styles to keep you going until it arrives to your consoles soon.

A few weeks back, both Capcom and Square Enix came forward for a limited time collaboration event between two of their popular titles; Monster Hunter: World and Final Fantasy XIV through an official trailer. Players will be going up against legendary monster Behemoth from FFXIV in action role-playing game MHW through a free update that is released on PlayStation 4 and XBox One on August 1, 5 PM PT. Slaying monsters are nothing new the fearless hunters of the New World but Behemoth is unlike any they have seen before. Going up against him will need you to come up with finest tactics and reliable teamwork. Of course, strategies are the key here but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't worry about your weapons and item loadouts. Your well planned best defenses may fall apart by his relentless mighty attacks after he locks target on you with enmity, its wrathful gaze.

Players would be wise to aim for his head and try to block or evade his big hits to save up health. A few support-focused teammates wielding weapon types like Sword & Shield, Light Bowgun or Hunting Horn can really come in handy in this particular case. Someone with Health Boost and Wide-Range, similar to skills from Lunastra armor set can also be very useful in your squad. Keep an eye around and watch out from Behemoth making his ultimate move, Ecliptic Meteor to cause an instant faint!

Another renowned giant Rathalos from Monster Hunter: World will invade the Final Fantasy XIV world during this cross-promotional event at a later date, which will be revealed soon. Although yet not released on PC, developer/publisher Capcom has already managed to make a ton of cash with their sixth main installment from Monster Hunter series, which not only became the fastest-selling game on their history but also turn out to be a best-seller as well by only releasing it on PS4 and XBox One.

Previously, MHW entered in similar timed events with Capcom games and other third-party titles like Devil May Cry, Horizon Zero Dawn, Mega Man and Street Fighter. However, crossing over with something as big as Final Fantasy is surely an extravaganza for fans of the franchise. Besides, this collaboration event is long due because producer Ryozo Tsujimoto of MHW and director Naoki Yoshida of FFXIV have envisioned something like this back in 2011 while focusing on their own projects.

Monster Hunter: World Comes to Final Fantasy XIV

Monster Hunter: World's legendary Rathalos is crossing over with Final Fantasy XIV in upcoming event.

Back in February 2018, Capcom's action role-playing game Monster Hunter: World had a crossover with action role-playing Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games and fans had a great time playing it. Another company-wide collaboration event is on the way with publisher Square Enix as the game will enter the massively multiplayer online role-playing world of Final Fantasy XIV. Both worlds from these two games will soon collide on August 7 and the latter will take on in.

Each game will have a guest monster appearing from the other for epic confrontation that offers some sweet rewards. Players of Final Fantasy XIV will be taking on legendary beast Rathalos from MHW in a quest called The Great Hunt. Taking down Rathalos will earn you a unique armor set and a mount themed on the monster. There is a standard challenge in The Great Hunt, which allows up to eight players and the extreme one lets only four to take part in facing him.

Players are to complete Stormblood expansion's main scenario and reach level 70 before they can access this brand-new content of update 4.36. Aside from gear and cosmetics, the patch includes Palico and Poogie minions. Behemoth from FFXIV will invade the world of Monster Hunter on August 1st, for them to try and take him down. This is a great idea for crossover because both of these Japanese RPGs have giant beast boss battles and they even share a similar visual style.

Just as they promised to arrange some crossover events with other popular titles, Capcom has already done that by tying-in with first -party games Devil May Cry, Mega Man and Street Fighter as well as Horizon Zero Dawn, which was a third-party release. Also, the game will be making its PC debut on August 9, two days after the update drops.

Milla Jovovich to Star in Monster Hunter Movie

Director of the Resident Evil movies, Paul W.S. Anderson is working once again with Milla Jovovich in Monster Hunter movie.

Although video game movies have a disastrous track record of being unable to please the critics or even successful at box-office, Hollywood will keep making them. What we have coming up next is not something we were expecting though but the notion is still welcomed. Reportedly, Constantin Film has just signed director Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Death Race) for a Monster Hunter movie, which will also star his wife and actress Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Ultraviolet).

Known mostly for her role as Alice in Capcom’s Resident Evil movie series, Milla Jovovich will team up with Paul once again. After her successful stint on that series, that has grossed $1.2 dollars already, Capcom and Constantin Film has set for a budget of $60 million for this upcoming project. Jovovich appeared in all six films of RE franchise and Anderson directed four of them except Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction. Given their past records, that budget is not a risky venture.

Production of the film will begin on September and producer Jeremy Bolt also returns to team up with Anderson and Jovovich. Their last collaboration on Resident Evil: the Final Chapter has earned $312 million worldwide and while they are working on a newly rebooted Resident Evil series, they are also looking for possibility of a brand-new TV series as well. Apparently, the director has already written a screenplay draft for Monster Hunter movie.

According to Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film, the principal photography will mostly take place in Cape Town, South Africa because of the comfort of same time zone and overnight flights for entire production unit. Though Anderson directed his previous action horror film franchise to be a huge money maker, he failed to garner any critical praise. However, when your films are earning big-bucks, do you really need to worry about critics? We thought not. So did Capcom and Constantin Film.

The latest installment of action role-playing game series was Monster Hunter: World which was released in January, 2018 for PCPlaystation 4 and Xbox One, which pretty quickly became one of the most successful titles from Capcom by selling over 7.9 million copies within March. If Paul W.S. Anderson can strike his magic once again for this video game movie, we probably are in for a few more films and maybe another huge franchise with some truly amazing visuals.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch is getting online action RPG Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate later this summer from its way out of Japan.

Originally, action role-playing game Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate from Capcom was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2016. There was an extended version of the game called Monster Hunter XX, which came out as a port for Nintendo Switch one year ago but it was released only for Japan. Now the publisher has finally decided to bring in the title worldwide this summer. The game is re-branded as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate to make its way to Switch in North America and Europe.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is coming for Nintendo's next-gen console on August 28, 2018. After seeing immense success of this release, Capcom finally decided to release it for Western market and there will be some additional content with it when they do. They had no intention of introducing the game on any other regions except Japan and as they do so now, it becomes the first title of the series to make an entry on console. Aside from armor, items and weapons, players are allowed to use six different hunting styles.

You can also use touch screen inputs of your console for powerful attacks; Hunter Arts soon as your Arts Gauge is full. This port supports a local co-op and online multiplayer too. An Elder Dragon and two new Hunting Styles called Alchemy and Valor will be featured in it. You can go on "G Rank" quests, where you will be facing more menacing version of monsters you encounter on a regular basis.

Though Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is highly action-packed and intense just like any other game from this franchise, you better not expect to experience anything like their most recent and highly successful release Monster Hunter: World for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, if the world of Monster Hunter fascinates you and makes you want to play it on portable console then Generations Ultimate would be a great option to look up for.

Monster Hunter: World Becomes Capcom’s Best-Selling Game Ever

Capcom’s action role-playing Monster Hunter game series has released their sixth main installment Monster Hunter: World on January 26, 2018 and over a period of a month since its release, the game broke another record. The series debuted back in 2004 with sending players off to kill monsters across mythological territories. While hunting monsters and scavenging their remains is fun, the game brought more joys for the creators.

Not only Monster Hunter: World became one of the fastest-selling game on the history of developer Capcom but the game has now created another record by becoming Capcom’s best-selling video game ever. As off till now, the game has been shipped a whooping 7.5 million copies already and if the warming period is like that, the game is in for an undisputed long run. Digital downloads has also taken to accounts of that impressive number by Capcom.

We must also include that those 7.5 million copies are not yet sold, they are just shipped. Another interesting fact we need to address is that this very impressive record was mounted from just the sales of PlayStation 4 and XBox One. Now, the game is still awaiting its PC release and if the console sales alone can do that, we sure can bet that there is more to come as it has done the unthinkable even before the chance to get released on all platforms.

Although, developer/publisher Capcom is known for immensely successful video game series like Resident Evil and Street Fighter, looks like Monster Hunter: World is adding one more franchise to the list. The record for the company's best-selling game ever was previously held by survival horror game Resident Evil 5, which was sold 7.3 million copies worldwide. Monster Hunter: World did a fantastic job reaching out a broader Western audience while remaining true to the core.

The PC version release of Monster Hunter: World seems to be dated later at some point of this year. Capcom initially ran grand promotional campaign worldwide to reach out to the fan-base of Japan and overseas markets. Apparently, film director Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien Vs. Predator, Resident Evil) is involved in the pre-production of a Monster Hunter movie adaption on Capcom’s long-running series.
