Resident Evil 8 New Development and Plot Rumors

Capcom may switch back to third-person mode for Resident Evil 8 following the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Only a few days after the launch, Resident Evil 2 Remake has shown a massive success in terms of both reviews and sales, which obviously making developer/publisher Capcom very happy and think about their next step with RE franchise.

A re-imagination of original survival horror classic, RE2 Remake opened up the possibility of a Resident Evil 3 Remake but at the same time, the series has a lot of potential to go ahead with an inevitable inception of Resident Evil 8 as well.

After going from tensed horror in fixed camera angles for the first three games to co-op action for another three, the series has finally returned to its survival horror roots with first-person view in Resident Evil 7 and expect to follow suit for an entire trilogy.

So, the next Resident Evil game and the one after that was about to follow the first-person perspective for player. However, recent report suggests that Capcom is now planning to switch back to third-person mode for their next game after RE2Make received critical and commercial success.

According to Twitter user EVIL VR, a few interesting details about Resident Evil 8 development and story premise has been leaked.

Apparently, Evil VR previously Tweeted about 30 minutes "1-Shot" Demo before it was revealed by the publisher, in case you are looking for credibility of the source. The revealed details are not out of place either if you have been following the franchise.

Back in the day, Resident Evil 2 was scrapped after completing almost 60% of the development and was dubbed Resident Evil 1.5. Female protagonist character Elza Walker costume from that build is included in Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition of RE2 as a skin for Claire Redfield.

Similarly, initial concept of Resident Evil 4 was made into Devil May Cry series and another version was canned for technical limitations. Concepts of a nightmarish enemy armed with a metal hook labeled as the Hook Man from RE 3.5 may also be adapted to the next game.

The studio originally planned for Leon Kennedy to get infected by a virus that would cause him to suffer from hallucinations and see ghostly apparitions in RE4, which will likely be borrowed to Resident Evil 8 from the Hook Man version.

Evil VR has added that even though developers are exploring origin of Eveline and other theory, they would not complete RE8 before the rumored Resident Evil 3 Remake. Although open for more remakes, the studio is not interested in a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Despite all the rumors for Capcom to overhaul Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, they noted that the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake will determine the future of a follow-up project and judging by fan response, it is pretty safe to brace ourselves for Nemesis to come chasing.

For now, we advise you to take the news with a grain of salt since none of these are from official source but then again, don't you think the gameplay mechanics of RE2 blending into the storyline of Biohazard saga would be kind of awesome to experience?
