Cyberpunk 2077 Sold 20 Million Copies

Facing a lot of criticism for a buggy experience at launch, 2020 open-world, action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 by developer/publisher CD Projekt Red released a number of updates to eventually improve its gameplay state over time.

Having over 8 million pre-orders on all platforms, CP 2077 already recouped development cost in less than a day after release. Doing great in terms of sales, CDPR has recently confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 sold over 20 million units so far.

Originally launched earlier in December 2020, it took almost two years for CP 2077 to reach its latest sales milestone. In a previous update, CD Projekt revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold more than 18 million copies globally by this April.

With a heavy discount on Steam and recent release of update 1.6, concurrent player count for CP 2077 has increased drastically. Moreover, world premiere of Netflix's acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series has really helped a lot.

Last week, CD Projekt shared that over 1 million players are frequently visiting Night City daily and thanked everyone for playing. CP 2077 quest director Paweł Sasko calls it a second chance after a recent resurgence of players since launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 shipping 20 million copies is a huge milestone for CD Projekt and not so many games have reached such mark. It was almost unplayable at launch and Sony delisted CP 2077 from PlayStation Store only a week after release.
