Having mastery over dark matter of an alternate dimension, Void Spirit is elder among his spirit brothers who carefully observe all. In battle, he will aid Earth Spirit, Ember Spirit and Storm Spirit with his elemental powers to lead charges.

He can pull remnant aspects of himself and stand ground towards a single direction to strike at enemies when in contact range. These hollow constructs can act as guard and can be placed strategically to set an elaborate yet simple trap.

This grandma goodness carries a scattergun to scare intruders off and treats her close ones with yummy cookies. She heads into battle on her trusty dragon Mortimer that is almost identical to Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon.

Matching notes from her reveal trailer, Snapfire is going to be a support hero who would buff her teammates with baked cookies. Her normal attack would involve a ranged shotgun and would use lizard mount for mobility.

A powerful machine gun on her mount would act as a long-range primary nuke, which is probably because she is here for buffing and damage. Despite being small in size, she sure packs a heavy punch through her cooking and shooting skills.

Her pet lizard spits a molten ball of fire called "Mortimer Kisses" that completely wrecked Timbersaw's armor in the trailer above. When launched at aimed opponents, those burning globs will deal damage and slow them down.

As part of general changes, all players will have their own courier from now on and their leveling is tied to heroes they belong to. Respawn time and values for XP bounties will both max out once someone is above level 25.

There is a new level cap of 30 for each hero and once you reach that point, entire talent tree will be unlocked. Even if you are under spell immunity, magic that can penetrate that resistance would deal damage to target as well.

Artifact Loses 97% Players

Only two months after its debut, Valve's online card game Artifact has lost over 97% players and still declining.

For the past few years, Hearthstone was dominating the ever growing market of online digital collectible card game genre and Artifact has debuted in November 2018 as an answer to the game from developer/publisher Valve Corporation.

Sure, Valve has a history of delivering huge hits like Half-Life and Left 4 Dead franchise that fans still love till date but sadly for their latest release, not even card game players are showing any interest as it is currently facing a concurrent player drop.

Initially, the game has launched two months ago with a simultaneous players number of 60,740 at that time. By next month on December, it was surpassed by No Man's Sky on Steam and from ever since, that downward trend is showing no sign of stopping.

Seeing an all time low, their playerbase has come down to a drop of 97.5% in just two months after release and ranking at 145 on Steam Charts. Even Valve's first-person puzzle-platform and critically-acclaimed game of 2011, Portal 2 has more players online.

RELATED: Valve Rumored to Develop VR Headset for Half-Life Prequel

Apparently, the DOTA 2 inspired card game is failing to pick up any interest among players and there are a number of reasons for that. The crown-jewel of online card game is following a free-to-play model, whereas Artifact is charging everyone $19.99 only to buy the game.

However, fans who believed in the developer still took part in the alternative model but when it was revealed that you simply cannot get newer cards without spending real money; it sparked a huge wave of complaints within the community.

RELATED: Job Listing Suggests Left 4 Dead 3 in Development?

In the weeks that followed, it became very clear that Valve is not attracting new players to their anticipated online trading card game. Moreover, many angry people bombed the game's Steam page with negative reviews for their shoddy monetization scheme.

The developer tried to do damage control by adding balance and leveling where one could earn new decks by simply playing which was followed by an update that re-balanced some of the overpowered cards but it didn't help to impress their fallen playerbase.

RELATED: Artifact Adds Card Balance and Leveling

When Valve finally decided to return into making video games and roped in world-famous game designer Richard Garfield for the development of DOTA 2 based card game experience, people were genuinely hyped but seems like all of it was for seemingly nothing.

Artifact could have possibly made it if they chose to follow a free-to-play system rather than their widely criticized pay-to-play model on top of the staring fee of $19.99 bucks that no other title of the same genre has asked for ever, turning it into one of the most disappointing releases on Steam.

Despite so many good games falling into the trap of "Broketober", the real good ones survived till the end. However, not many of them have seen a good time like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 or Red Dead Redemption 2 and died down.

Aside from the purchase of the base game, Steam also took account of the revenue earned from DLC packs. Though some of the elite on the lists are free-to-play, you can easily find some of the best AAA games of recent times within 33-85% discount for sure.

Artifact Adds Card Balance and Leveling

Valve's Dota-based digital card game Artifact has just received its first balancing patch with added features.

For long, developer/publisher Valve Corporation has been enjoying the success of their multiplayer online battle arena game DOTA 2 and then came up with a digital collectible card game Artifact based on the mythos of the community-created mod.

Debuted earlier on November 28, 2018 for Linux, Mac and PC, the title has been receiving quite an attention from critics and players. The game already got its first balance patch "Build Your Legend Update" for even more intense deck-building fun.

Players can now level up accounts with the newly deployed system, which will let them unlock tickets and card packs down the road. Ongoing card balance has a lot of perks for a digital game and realizing that, the company is just trying to embrace the change.

Valve has originally planned for the model to work like a normal trading card game and decided to ban cards only in emergency situations that calls for such action but they took a month to reach that conclusion. For more details on the changes made, take a look at the Patch Notes.

RELATED: Job Listing Suggests Left 4 Dead 3 in Development?

After evaluating feedback from direct interactions, online suggestions and group discussions among their team members, they collectively decided to be flexible with improvisation. Those who have purchased the affected cards before can sell their cards back to the store within next two weeks.

However, players never expected to see a patch this soon after the launch of the game but it came as a statement from the developer team working on it. While the team was old-fashioned with some cards, they made significant alteration to others.

RELATED: Steam Reveals Best-Selling & Most Played Games of 2018

Even only a few days ago, Artifact was listed among the bottom 10 of the top 100 best-selling games list on Steam and following the update, that place has significantly improved. People are mostly positive towards these new adjustments and hopefully the game is not dying down soon.

Seeing Valve taking such an agreeable approach to modification, we guess that there are more patches coming down for the foreseeable future. Despite the game being innovative, it pushes the player to spend more money and time, which can scare off many newcomers.

Another thing that stuck on our mind is that cooperative first-person shooter game Left 4 Dead 2 is still generating more than 25,000 concurrent players even after a decade of its release. This clearly states, why Turtle Rock Studios should go ahead with a plan to develop Left 4 Dead 3 for anticipating fan-base.

With Steam offering some huge discounts on popular games, hardcore gamers are barging in on old and new titles, because Valve apparently has something for everyone in their store. At the end of the year, we will see some major entries making their way into the list.

Majors Battle Passes was introduced back in 2016 which used to bring various challenges on a daily or weekly basis. Dota Plus will do almost the exact similar thing but there will be literally hundreds of challenges and some of them will be hero-specific. The biggest difference is that while Majors Battle Passes were seasonal, Dota Plus is ongoing.

Jim French of Left 4 Dead Dies at 89

If you are a gamer who played first-person survival horror shooter Left 4 Dead, then you will know him as the person who has voiced the grumpy ol' survivor of "Green Flu" outbreak William "Bill" Overbeck or just simply Bill. He was one of the few remaining voice actors producing full-time radio theater for commercial stations. This promising voice actor from Seattle and a World War II veteran Jim French has passed away today for natural causes when he was 89 year old.

You might not know him as the producer of a radio drama program by the name of Imagination Theater that is being broadcast over 120 AM/FM radio stations over America and Canada from 1980. You can also hear his programs on XM Satellite Radio if you are in North America. He started his career as a morning DJ on KIRO (AM) back in 1959 before starting his own company. He has been credited for over 803 shows including his notable appearance on The Adventures of Harry Nile and The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series.

Jim French lend voice for games like Gunman Chronicles, Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Lost Coast. Jim also voiced the Elder Titan in Dota 2 and a cameo in one of the opening cut-scene of Payday: The Heist. However, it was his role of Vietnam veteran Bill in the Left 4 Dead game that gave him some true recognition to the mainstream audience and a new generation of fan-following. This Assault Rifle wielding, beret-wearing badass is one of the original four survivors from the initial pandemic of the game. Interesting fact is that all of the games above that he voiced for are from Valve Corporation.

Jim is from Seattle and was born in September 1928. He used to serve as a writer and presenter doing weekly shows for the Armed Forces Radio Service during the period of World War II. Following the war, he resumed his career in the broadcasting media while settling in his hometown. Fans of Jim French's work can still enjoy his work on Left 4 Dead game playing as Bill to relive his fond memories.

This dashing fellow from Nivan Gallants has a resembling appearance of a cat that is stylized in the manner of the feline protagonist from Puss in Boots. In the beginning, some even mistakenly considered him as an armadillo too. This guy is always-on defense, ready to take on any monster and woo any creature that he crosses paths with.

Then there goes the innocent-looking fairy-like creature named The Dark Willow Mireska Sunbreeze, who is not as harmless as she seems. She was born to a fae merchant king and is full of fae tricks to charge at her enemies. Since she was raised in Revtel, she adopted the norms of manipulation and murder quite naturally. As it molded her character, she eventually ended up killing her own family and set out to choose her own path in life.

The Tweet from the official Twitter handle of DOTA 2 has twitted about the "Dueling Fates" update that contains all the details.

As per the official patch notes, Dota 2 matchmaking rating system is more accurate now, which ensures a better gaming experience for everyone in the arena. In this revamped MMR system, ranked and unranked players both will now be ranked on a six-month seasonal system. The exciting news is that the first ranked season is starting off within two weeks. There will also be profile medal for players on each season for their max MMR.

The Turbo Mode will reduce your average re-spawn time, while serving you up more gold and experience. Valve Confirms New Dota 2 Heroes

Valve has just finished The International 2017 Dota 2 Competition a day ago with a blast, declaring two fresh out of the box new legends coming to the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game. While Valve did not announce either hero in a trailer staged in front of an audience following the day's matches, one of the heroes obviously took after a habitually guessed on expansion to the game.

The last time Valve added a new hero into the DOTA 2 roster was Monkey King, but even that was in December, 2016.

2 New Dota 2 Heroes

As references to the character showed up in Dota 2's codebase in May of this current year, Sylph has been supposedly chosen for quite a while. This additionally comes after Team Secret director Matthew Bailey revealed on his Twitter, that Valve notified the players and their associations that they would be adding more legends to the game as soon as they can.

Now check out this "Dota 2 – The Dueling Fates" clip below and witness the legends collide.

The main character is a smart sword-wielding pangolin, using a blade reminiscent of Zorro and somewhat Puss in Boots. The video displays him bouncing around on slopes, moving around his foes and incapacitating them with speedy swipes of his sharp edge in style of course. The second anonymous hero was given considerably less screen time, however has all the earmarks of being the supposed fourth soul, Sylph.

Our crisply presented pangolin warrior discloses to her the forest is safe now because of him and then she unexpectedly assaulted him with a minion of hers. The video draws its ending with a tease for the upcoming "Dueling Fates" update, which will probably be out not long after The International Dota 2 Competition finishes, just as always.

New heroes and some major changes will be part of the update. The International 2017 has been stuffed with many announcements so far and one of them was a new Dota 2 Card Game is also out now. Earlier, Valve and Open AI tests the capability of their artificial intelligence of their DOTA playing bot's ability to best against DOTA's most celebrated player.

Dota 2 Will Be Newbie Friendly

Valve Corporation, inventors of DOTA 2 has really made so much improvement not just to Dota but to the world of the game and this is applaudable. However, the online battle arena of Dota is not a very friendly one to step your foot onto. Every new comer in a new game or existing game has, most times, faces hostile environment and a toxic one.

Now, Dota is allowing new players to enjoy the game by making them comfortable at first so they can ease into the game and not just run away from it by getting manhandled by the pros. In fixing the hostility to new player's experience, Valve made sure they only match new players with reliable high score, reducing chances of new players been bully in game.

Another way of making DOTA 2 interesting is by restricting the number of hero a new player can choose from. The process of choosing from over 100 heroes before can be frustrating for new players because they do not know which hero to pick from the numerous one available. Now this has been made much easier because it has been restricted to just 20 heroes but that is only for your first 25 game, which Valve believes will be awesome at helping players in learning and enjoying the game, so you can expect players like Juggernaut, Lich, Lion, Shadow Shaman, Sniper, Sven and Zeus.

Another intriguing moment in Dota is found at the first stage of learning the game; intricate strategies begin to take shape around you in the battle as against the numerous issues that caused unnecessary challenges for new players previously. More like a game of boards, just reading Dota’s rule all day would not make you a pro, only constant playing and playing with a friendly partner would make you a better player. Dota comes with a lot of mechanics and interactions that can be challenging to understand of course.

This is a game that lovers of Dota would really want to play but most especially, new players of the community. Dota 2 was built especially for new players and thumbs up to Valve for this welcoming initiative. Also, don't forget that the International Dota 2 Championships begins on August 7, worth a total prize amount of $23 million.
