Judgment Becomes Collectible Item in Japan After Drug Scandal

After making headlines for drug scandal, price for Yakuza spin-off Judgment goes sky high and becomes a must-have item.

As an action-adventure game and a Yakuza series spin-off by developer/publisher Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, PlayStation 4-exclusive title Judgment was doing great after it came out in December 2018 and was set for a worldwide release on June 2019.

However, things went south pretty quick when one of the game's voice actors, Pierre Taki was arrested on a drug scandal and the game is entirely pulled off from sales in Japan, which has made it a collector's item for players these days.

Only weeks after a long-anticipated Western launch date announcement, Taki was arrested for alleged possession and usage of cocaine, leading Sega to voluntarily stop distribution of the game from digital and retail stores in response.

Although there was no official statement on when they will come back in marketplaces, it is easily predictable that the publisher may not resume sales anytime soon as long as the investigation on Taki is ongoing, thus creating a high demand for the PS4 title.

Judgment drug scandal has caused a massive spike in price in all over Japan and since there are no new copies available, used copies are currently being sold for as much as a whooping ¥45,000 or $400 following the controversy.

Originally, it used to sell for a price of ¥8,953 or $80 only but now that supply is scarce from source, even retailers are charging somewhat $100 or more. It all happened so fast within a few months of its release and the game is a must-buy item all of a sudden.

Aside from serving as a voice actor for the game, Pierre Taki has also dubbed voice for Olaf in animated musical fantasy Frozen and reprised his role in Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts III, which will be replaced soon according to Square Enix.

Known as Judge Eyes in Japan, Judgment probably won't see an unusual price hike when it will be released worldwide but then again, we don't really know for sure yet that whether or not dates will be pushed back because of Taki's arrest.

Diablo Trademark Hints Netflix Series

Revealed by a recent trademark registration, Diablo animated series is currently in works to debut on Netflix.

Action role-playing hack and slash Diablo game franchise has a dedicated fan following that has been asking developer/publisher Blizzard Entertainment for long to make an animated or live-action series that would complement the existing lore.

Back in September 2018, there was already a rumor of this beloved series being adapted into an animated TV show for streaming giant Netflix and now a recent trademark registration has reinforced that possibility even more.

Originally the news broke when screenwriter Andrew Cosby made a statement on Twitter that he is in talks to be showrunner for an animated series on Lord of Terror by Activision and Netflix, which is deleted later and was never mentioned.

Blizzard apparently filed property called Diablo for trademark and it is listed for "Downloadable films and movies featuring narratives based on a video game and provided via a video-on-demand service", which sounds an awful lot like Netflix streaming services.

News of oncoming TV show and video games often gets spoiled by trademark registrations and looks like same thing happened to titular franchise. Recently, Cosby made another Tweet about a current super secret project that he wants to talk about soon.

Following an immense success of Castlevania animated series, Netflix has seemingly lifted the curse of bad video game adaption and a Devil May Cry was confirmed on November 2018, followed by a recent announcement of Dragon's Dogma anime.

Fans of Diablo have been looking forward to something new from the series for so long, which concluded in major disappointment when Blizzard Entertainment decided to come up with announcement for upcoming mobile title Diablo Immortal at Blizzcon 2018.

RELATED: Blizzard Has Multiple Diablo Projects

A major fan backlash followed for taking away a popular title from PC to mobile devices, which caused Blizzard's stock value to plummet. Players started criticizing, ridiculing and throwing shades at the company on social media and they ended up receiving a lot of hate.

Despite their early claim of working on several projects on the known franchise, there was no announcement for a TV show, which is odd. Because, contrary of whatever reaction they got, an official revelation of Diablo coming to Netflix would have cheered the PC gaming crowd after all.

No Man's Sky Beyond Update

No Man's Sky major update Beyond is announced and will come to all available platforms on summer 2019.

Although action-adventure survival game No Man's Sky from developer/publisher Hello Games saw a rocky launch on PC and PlayStation 4 for lack of promised features when it arrived back in August 2016, they resolved those issues by the time it came to Xbox One in July 2018.

The studio eventually worked on it by introducing multiplayer components and then started releasing a series of free updates to deliver better experience to fans, which will be continued with upcoming free update Beyond in summer 2019.

A huge part of the gameplay of NMS involves exploration and initially a large number of initial complain from players was that in-game open world universe seemed a bit repetitive but listening to fan community, they fixed most part of that issues.

Following the release of NEXT update last year, Hello Games worked on a roadmap for their future releases. Beyond will roll in every feature that made all three of the past free updates great and would bring in No Man's Sky Online.

RELATED: No Man's Sky The Abyss Update

Their goal here is to expand social experience to the already existent multiplayer mode that will connect group of players from across worlds to play and interact together. Despite bringing large number of people in one place, it would not be an MMO.

General online elements will be there without anyone having to subscribe to any monthly services, nor there be any sort of micro-transactions and mostly, anyone who owns the game can instantly take part into the fray.

Ever since the developers released NEXT update that received very positive feedback for it, dev team started planning on bring more participants to the table rather than small groups of friends playing to make things a lot more exciting.

With a goal to surpass what they achieved in 2018, Hello Games is determined to take things to further and Beyond for the foreseeable future of No Man's Sky. What seemed like an ending after previous updates was actually a new beginning for the game and its community.

Back 4 Blood Announced

Left 4 Dead creators Turtle Rock Studios announced a spiritual sequel and upcoming co-op zombie shooter Back 4 Blood.

Zombie shooter games have always a special place to video game lovers all over the world but very few have succeeded in matching the legacy created by Left 4 Dead of 2008 by developer Turtle Rock Studios and publisher Valve Corporation.

A sequel, Left 4 Dead 2 came out in 2009 and a decade has passed in anticipation for release of a third installment with no hope for it or whatsoever, until now. Apparently, the original studio that worked on L4D is back with a spiritual sequel titled Back 4 Blood.

Turtle Rock is currently developing a cooperative shooter game where players will fend off hordes of zombies for the sake of their own survival, which sounds a lot like what L4D offered but they insist that it really is an original and unique IP.

Despite taking inspiration from the popular co-op zombie shooter franchise, the development team insists that the game is not Left 4 Dead 3 at all. They are about to introduce new features to honor the legacy of the preceding titles but being very coy about them.

Back in June 2018, a job listing for hiring animator, character concept artist and level designers with expertise of working on competitive FPS posted by the studio for a globally known franchise had many of us believed that Left 4 Dead 3 was indeed in development.

Of course, B4B will have a campaign mode while option for player-versus-player combat will also be there. However, they are not planning on to push a Battle Royale mode for it as it is heading to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Developers are working in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for this project that is committed to a player-first mentality. With everything they have learned over years, Turtle Rock Studios only focuses to move forward with new ideas.

When finished, Back 4 Blood would be a great opportunity for old-school fans of Left 4 Dead to jump back into a genre they craved for so long and new generation of players would be able to experience the same thrill of taking on undead hordes with squad mates.

Battlefield V Firestorm Official Reveal

Official Firestorm reveal trailer for Battle Royale mode of Battlefield V heralds the release date to be March 25.

Even though standard Battle Royale games offer a 100 player stand-off to death, developer EA DICE and publisher Electronic Arts will allow only 64 to compete in Firestorm mode of their latest first-person shooter game Battlefield V.

A statement issued back in October 2018 announced that players will not receive battle royale mode until March 2019 and now, March 25 is revealed to be the release date for it to all BFV players worldwide via a new trailer dropped by EA.

The trailer starts with a typical style for last-man-standing shooter where we see soldiers jumping off planes in parachute to their destined battleground and help each other out to bring them to their feet, only to notice other squads to drop nearby.

Then they each head to nearby establishments to seek cover and weapons, followed by a shootout between two parties. Bombs starts dropping from above when a red flare is shot at the house next to barn filled with a rival group.

RELATED: Battlefield V Player Visibility Issues Experiment

The gang who arrived first is now out in the open and one of their members finds a tractor that they use to ram through opposing force to break out of the barn they were in. To evade an ever imposing ring of fire on them, they all hop in a helicopter found close at hand.

Moving to a new land to fight, they come across an enemy boat and one of them is lost in the ensuing gunfire. By the time they reach to ground, tanks are deployed, dams are destroyed, forests are burnt and the fire is closing in quicker.

The fight reaches to a climax and the leader of the group draws out his melee weapon to charge at an enemy when he is out of ammo and another of his squad member bites the dust while one of his teammates attempts to shoot that man by targeting him via rifle scope.

Introducing Battlefield's biggest map ever from DICE team, Firestorm lets player engage solo or in 4-person squads as they collect loots and unlock vehicles to ride to victory parade aside from calling in V-1 flying bomb for reinforcements.

RELATED: Battlefield V Battle Royale Firestorm Footage Leaked

Despite a lot of complaints against the developers for failing to live up to expectation and release of an early leaked footage of Battle Royale mode, Firestorm trailer still manages to shine and promise players a great experience that would probably help them redeem themselves.

Set on World War II era, Battlefield V is currently available for everyone to play on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Though it may sound a little disappointing but those who want to play in duos will have to wait till April 2019 for the mode to finally arrive on the game.

Judgment Pulled From Sales in Japan

Yakuza spin-off title Judgment was pulled from sales by SEGA in Japan after voice actor arrested for drug scandal.

An official spin-off title of the acclaimed Yakuza series, developer/publisher Sega has released action-adventure game Judgment back on December 2018 in Japan for players on PlayStation 4, also eyeing for a Western release this year.

The title was commercially doing pretty well and fans were eagerly waiting for a summer 2019 release worldwide. However, it has been pulled from sales after one of the game's voice actors was arrested for alleged possession and usage of cocaine.

Japanese actor and musician Pierre Taki, who has voiced over for in-game crime boss character Kyohei Hamura for the PS4 title has been arrested recently after tips on suspicion of his using a small amount of cocaine was received by police.

Initially, there was no drug to be found but when given a urine test, Taki was tested positive for cocaine usage. Right after this incident, Sega voluntarily came out with a press release for halting distribution and promotion for the game in response.

Following their brief statement, the publisher completely pulled the game off from digital and retail stores while the investigation is ongoing. Also, the planned release date of Judgment on June 25, 2019 is now in question until the investigation comes to a conclusion.

For many people, it may seem like a lot of drama over some routine drug charges but Japan has a very strict outlook on drugs and possession of cocaine can lead to seven years of prison sentences for voice actor Pierre Taki.

Originally developed as codename Project Judge and known as Judge Eyes in Japan, the game follows private detective Takayuki Yagami working on a serial murder case and engages in a beat 'em up adventure in third-person perspective.

This sudden drug scandal fiasco and Taki's arrest is obviously quite disheartening for everyone who put a lot of effort and labor in creating and promoting Judgment, both from within and outside of Japan, considering the studio announce a worldwide release date only a week ago.
