Assassin's Creed Odyssey Confirmed

Earlier, news of a new Assassin's Creed game titled Assassin's Creed Odyssey came out from a keychain, which not only revealed the franchise's next setup to be ancient Greece, it also seem to connect with last year's critically acclaimed release Assassin's Creed Origins, where we explored ancient Egypt with protagonist Bayek. Ubisoft eventually confirmed those rumors of an upcoming entry of their open-world action-adventure franchise by revealing a short clip on Twitter.

Previously, the developer even denied of any possibilities for a sequel this year and instead chose to focus on more DLC expansions for Origins. So, we were led to believe that either the keychain is an early leak or Odyssey might probably be a large expansion because of its connection to game's ending and suggestive setup of ancient Greece. Realizing that their tight-kept secret is out of the bag anyway, Ubisoft decided to officially confirm their involvement in a sequel with a short tease.

The upcoming title is in fact "Assassin's Creed Odyssey", a direct nod to Homer's The Odyssey and though very short in length, the video was able to generate much hype. We see a Greek warrior throwing his enemy off from a cliff with a Spartan kick as we saw in live-action film 300 and then the game’s title card takes over the screen showing the new official logo for Odyssey. The traditional Assassin's Creed insignia is changed and a Corinthian helmet is placed at the center of their symbol.

This teaser came with a caption “See you at E3”, clearly hinting of more detailed reveal to happen in E3 2018, which will be June 12-14. In past, the series has ventured into many era from history and had some low performing entries but with Assassin's Creed Origins, Ubisoft was finally able to turn the tide to their favor. The sole reason for that success was the extra year they decided to take for development and hopefully, Odyssey will receive the same treatment to be a stand out title.
