Elden Ring Rumoredly Coming in 2020

NeoGaf user claims Elden Ring to release in late 2020 with next-gen console versions coming as well.

A new entry into "Soulsborne" genre, upcoming action role-playing game Elden Ring from developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment was previously rumored to be showcased at Taipei Game Show 2020.

Due to a worldwide COVID-19 outbreak, many events were cancelled and Taipei Game Show joined that list as well. According to a NeoGAF user, From Software is planning to release Elden Ring in 2020 and much sooner than expected.

NeoGAF user Arctos claimed to receive this information directly from a former employee of Bandai Namco that states a possible 2020 release even though no gameplay or story premise is shared of upcoming anticipated ARPG title yet.

According to sources, development process was halted by recent global crisis and a previously planned release window for summer 2020 had to move to Q3 of current fiscal year to let dev team work on Elden Ring next-gen ports.

Currently looking forward to an October-December 2020 launch window, the game is now in a playable state in terms of content. From Software is busy optimizing and polishing it now while readying PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X ports.

Players shouldn't expect anything other than high resolutions and increased frame-rates from updated version on next-gen consoles. Also, Sony has reportedly tried to make a PS5 timed exclusive deal for the game but was unsuccessful.

It took Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice a year and a half to meet its schedule following initial announcement at E3 2018 and therefore, December 2020 seems like a possible fit to match that pattern for next From Software release.

Elden Ring has yet to receive a confirmed release date and is planned to launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. An official reveal by From Software may feature on a future episode of Summer Game Fest 2020 very soon.

This show will take place from February 6 to 9 and the dark fantasy title will be showcased during presentation by Sony. Although attendees won't be able to get a hands-on playing experience, a new footage will likely to get revealed.

At this point, people have no solid idea of what to expect from latest title of Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Nevertheless, everyone is excited to see From Software attempting to explore open-world genre for very first time.

In September 2019, a leaked listing from Target retail chain suggests the game has a release window set for June 2020. Most recently, From Software official site has reaffirmed the same date on a New Year card, making it more obvious.

Elden Ring has been under development from 2017 right after Dark Souls III final DLC, The Ringed City was released. Given their past record of shipping games quickly, a release date set for this year will not be very much surprising at all.

Elden Ring Release Window Leaked

From Software official website has seemingly leaked a release window for anticipated action RPG game Elden Ring.

Starting back in 2009 with action role-playing game Demon's Souls, Japanese studio From Software has been on a winning streak and even won over "Game of the Year" accolade for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at The Game Awards 2019.

Following an official announcement back in E3 2019, fans of their previous work is patiently waiting for new update on their upcoming ARPG release Elden Ring and it seems that we are only months away from its release on 2020.

On beginning of this year, From Software published a New Year card on their official website, which stated that their latest project will come around in June 2020, which could either be a mistake or an estimated release window.

Although this suggested time period is less likely to be an opening for launch, it actually supports a previously leaked release date from retail chain Target, which claimed for the game to have a release month set for June this year.

RELATED: Elden Ring Announced

That leak from back in September 2019 had a product listing of Elden Ring for pre-order and a set date of Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Considering major video games usually release on Tuesdays or Fridays, this date was somewhat plausible.

According to rumors, there is a chance for Microsoft to showcase the game alongside Xbox Series X in an event at that time to showcase power of their next-generation hardware even though it will arrive for current console generation.

Players have yet to see some gameplay footage with more details on the game and therefore, a June release date seems to be very early. Depending on how far they are in development phase, it is up to From Software to confirm an official date.

Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki is returning once again, teaming up with Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin and it seems that Elden Ring gameplay and story settings will be heavily influenced by "Soulsborne" genre in overall.

Despite some initial skepticism, fans have approved of the first live-action iteration of Geralt of Rivia, played by British actor Henry Cavill (Justice League, Man of Steel) following first season premiere of fantasy TV series Netflix's The Witcher.

When showrunner Lauren Hissrich was discussing traits of a classic Witcher character on Twitter, it was pointed out that Mark Hamill (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) should play Vesemir in The Witcher Season 2.

Vesemir is an experienced and older Witcher from 13th century, who appeared on franchise novels and games. Also, this conversation gone viral recently is from about a year ago, even before Cavill expressed his interest in playing Geralt.

Hissrich was posting a series of Tweets, breaking down each major characters of her Netflix show and there she conveyed Vesemir as "Fatherly, Wise, Sprightly an Ancient", attributes that can be well portrayed by Hamill himself.

Noticing that conversation, Mark Hamill quickly jumped in expressing his interests to be cast for Season 2.

Hamill is renowned for his work on both Star Wars original and sequel trilogy as Luke Skywalker as well as multiple Batman animated films as The Joker. Hopefully, he has caught on more with lore of The Witcher series by now after a year.

Season 1 features a young version of Vesemir on a single episode that is played by British actor Theo James (Underworld: Awakening, Underworld: Blood Wars), which leaves chances for the character to appear on next season.

Estimated cost for each episode of Netflix's The Witcher is $15 million that is very much likely to increase in Season 2. Lately, online streaming-service Netflix gave an approximate $150 million budget for Michael Bay directed film 6 Underground.

Whether or not Netflix would like to hire or can afford an A-lister actor like Mark Hamill is up for debate but given how The Witcher has become one of the highest-rated Netflix shows on IMDb, there is a chance for him to join The Witcher Season 2.

BioWare Exec Producer Teased Dragon Age

Mike Darrah, executive producer at BioWare, simply Tweets "Dragon Age" to tease a possible reveal soon.

Last year, General Manager Casey Hudson of developer BioWare hinted at dark fantasy role-playing series Dragon Age shortly before an awaited reveal of Dragon Age: The Dread Wolf Rises at The Game Awards 2018.

Currently in development under that name, fans in general are calling the title Dragon Age 4 and executive producer Mike Darrah has taken social media to tease fans on some upcoming announcement shortly before TGA this year.

For over a year, there was no update on how they are progressing and that lead many to wonder whether there is any issue. Although, developers didn't say anything about current state of work but they always dismissed any concerns.

Just as they did earlier this month on 5th anniversary of Dragon Age: Inquisition by posting a letter from in-game character Solas, a random tease like this just before yearend and ahead of a grand ceremony like TGA can lead to some new reveal.

Mike Darrah has taken Twitter to type nothing but simply "Dragon Age" and that was enough to have everyone guessing.

RELATED: BioWare to Overhaul Anthem

It came shortly after BioWare revealed plans of working on a massive overhaul of their most-anticipated title Anthem. When they showed a trailer for "The Dread Wolf Rises" last year, the game was on an early stage of development.

A new trailer for Dragon Age 4 might be on its way to be shown at The Game Awards 2019, which is only two weeks away from now. Therefore, Darrah can very well have the pleasure of teasing eager fans a little in advance with his Tweets.
