Injustice 2 Scrapped Character Concept Art Revealed

New unused character designs of John Constantine, Krypto the Superdog and Penguin for the game revealed by Injustice 2 concept artist.

Following their immense success with 2013's fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, NetherRealm Studios came up with a sequel, Injustice 2 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, that even surpassed its predecessor in many aspects.

The game has a roster full of iconic DC Comics characters as playable fighters as well as other heroes like Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from IDW Publishing. Recently, a number of unused concept arts have revealed a few characters that didn't make it to the final roster.

Shared on ArtStation by senior concept artist Justin Murray, these min-blowing artworks of the characters from Injustice comic books has Batman's protege Bluebird, Detective ChimpEtrigan the DemonJohn Constantine, Krypto the Superdog and Penguin.

During the story arc in comics, they have either sided with The Regime and The Insurgency or chose their own way but there was no apparent reason for excluding them from the game. However, we didn't wait for any official statement and have our own theory on it.

For one, neither Detective Chimp nor Penguin is a competitive fighter who can give other playable characters a tough time. Even occult detective John Constantine is no physical combatant despite him being a highly skilled sorcerer.

Young vigilante hero Bluebird on the other hand could've made it but considering other better-known costumed fighters like Batgirl and Zatanna didn't made it to the sequel, this electrical engineer from Batman comics introduced during the run of Scott Snyder (All-Star Batman – My Own Worst Enemy, Batman – Court of the Owls) had slim chances.

Another plausible reason for these characters not to show up in Injustice 2 maybe because many of them ended up dying in the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic-book series, thus their presence in the game could have been tricky for the storyline to connect.

Etrigan The Demon lost his connection to mortal realm when Jason Blood, his human host was killed in a battle against The Regime. Although John Constantine didn't die after his rebellion of magic community took a stand opposing Superman, he simply left the conflict.

The original publisher for the Mortal Kombat series, NetherRealm Studios may strongly consider another sequel to the Injustice franchise and these characters can even show up in that game if they are somehow brought back to the tie-in comic-books.

According to some recent rumor flying around, the studio is already working on a new project and it can either be a new installment for Mortal Kombat or Injustice 3, which we can only tell for sure once we get some more evidence on hand.

Injustice 2 Gameplay Trailer Features Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Just as the prequel Injustice: Gods Among Us took the gaming world by storm, developer NetherRealm Studios presents fighting game Injustice 2 repeated the history and created a new one. Back in November 2017, NetherRealm made announcement of introducing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the world of DC's most popular duel of heroes on February 2018 and that time is finally here.

From across the Multiverse, our beloved heroes in half-shell have finally made their way to Injustice 2 and they have just debuted in a gameplay trailer today. Watch them boys at work with their bo-staff, nunchakus, sai and sword.

Seeing Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo going up against the biggest and baddest there is from the DC Universe is truly a spectacle of a lifetime. However, bringing the fan favorite mutant heroes from another franchise makes a lot of eyebrows raise but this is not the first time Warner Bros. have done that. Previously, paranormal investigator and a demon from Hell, Hellboy of Dark Horse Comics along with Mortal Kombat's Raiden joined the Injustice 2 roster.

Well, the Ninja Turtle brothers fight the warlord from Dimension X and their arch-nemesis Krang on a regular basis and he is from out of the world. So, obviously there is quite a lot of inter-dimensional travelling they do very often. One such trip has gone sore and they have ended up in a world not any less-crazier than theirs. Besides, DC Universe has their fair share of twisted plots regarding the Multiverse and that makes the explanation pretty legit.

Oh and in case, anyone was wondering, Ed Boon from NetherRealm Studios has posted on Twitter how to get your Ninja Turtles from the character selection screen of the game.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will join the fight this month and the date will actually depend on the players. Those who own the Ultimate Edition of Injustice 2 can get their hands of them from February 13. Otherwise, you can also buy the Ultimate Pack or Fighter Pack 3 for access to the characters on that same day. Rest of the players worldwide will have their turn from February 20 onwards and the stand-alone DLC purchase will cost them only $9.99.

Injustice 2 is a fighting video game based on the properties of DC Comics, which was released by NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One to begin with. A version of the game is also available to play on Android and iOS devices as well. We are still hoping that they feature a few popular characters from Watchmen franchise of DC Comics to the game someday.

Injustice 2 Gameplay Trailer Features Enchantress

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have been pampering their fans by introducing new DLC characters every now and then for their insanely popular fighting game Injustice 2, a sequel to 2013's Injustice: Gods Among Us. The next fighter to be added to the game is Suicide Squad member Enchantress beginning from January 9. We all are introduced with a version her in the 2016's live-action DCEU film portrayed by actress Cara Delevingne.

Injustice 2 – Introducing Enchantress!

Enchantress is joining the Injustice 2 roster next week and below is a gameplay trailer showcasing her moves and fighting skills that she will be bringing to the fight.

As Enchantress is a demonic entity who possessed June Moone, we are bound to witness her cast a bunch of magic spells against her opponents and that is what happened in the trailer above. She displays some of her deadly move sets on her Task Force X colleague Deadshot and Harley Quinn as they both fell under the hex of Enchantress. Her power sets mostly are trashing her opponents with blasts and sharp weapons constructed with dark magic. She can even summon demons from other dimensions to assist her and can even turn one’s soul onto their own.

Players who have access to Fighter Pack 3, Ultimate Edition or the Ultimate Pack can have their access to the character from January 9 and those who do not, can buy the DLC from onwards January 16. The news announced back in November 2017 regarding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles joining Injustice 2 along with Atom and Enchantress for Fighter Pack 3, The Atom is already released and Enchantress is coming within a few days. NetherRealm and WB Games are probably meaning save up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for last.

Justice League Movie Skins For Injustice 2

Justice League perhaps was one of the most anticipated superhero-film of the year 2017 and it is out on theaters already. Warner Bros. has decided to celebrate the release of the movie by dropping Justice League skins to latest installment of Injustice; one of the most popular fighting game series DC has ever made. Yes, Injustice 2 now features costumes and gears from the new Justice League movie.

Players of Injustice 2 can now access the costumes of Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg, based on the looks of their movie counterparts. Check out the following clip to get a good glimpse of how cool it would make your heroes look like in the game.

These amazing gears and skins will not just be handed to you when you run the game. You have to earn them through some playing and then you can have the costumes of your favorite Justice League characters from DC Cinematic Universe. Injustice 2’s Multiverse mode will lead you to six special events related to a member of Justice League. You have to fight your way out of each event to unlock each character's costume from the Justice League movie.

RELATED: Injustice 2 Gameplay Trailer Features Hellboy

With the release of DCEU's Wonder Woman movie, there was a challenge akin to these in the Multiverse panel and players were allowed to customize the titular character from Injustice 2 to look like version that Gal Gadot has portrayed of the character in the film. The same Wonder Woman skin is back again but now there are skins for the five other teammates of her from the League. Then again, Injustice 2 doesn't deliver an exact iteration of the gears for every hero.

Batman and The Flash gear sets gives the characters similar look to Ben Affleck and Ezra Miller’s characters. Aquaman and Cyborg may appear slightly different even though their skins have taken inspiration from the film. However, Superman isn't getting his own set among the Justice League members. Possibly, this is because the Man of Steel was mostly out of all the promotional clips and his involvement in the movie's plot was kept a secret.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Joins Injustice 2

Developer NetherRealm Studios' ground-breaking fighting game Injustice 2 still awaits its PC release on November 14, 2017. We already know that a DC character; Atom will join the battle very soon like many fan-favorites before him and now, during the Injustice 2 World Championship event, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Enchantress is announced as part of Fighter Pack 3 characters to everyone's surprise.

Already adding non-DC Universe characters like Mike Mignola (Abe Sapien, Lobster Johnson)’s Hellboy and Mortal Kombat's Raiden to the roster of fighters, adding of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be quite a blast for the fans. Now, check out the reveal trailer for Fighter Pack 3 for Injustice 2 first as we are about to discuss what's coming for us.

We agree that adding Hellboy to the Injustice 2 playable character list was a bit oddly surprising but fans have loved the idea so far. However, introducing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; heroes in a half shell were something no one really saw coming and you can tell how surprised the entire fanboy nation was by the #TMNT trend on Twitter yesterday! Everyone just literally lost their mind over the reveal of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo.

This one surprise was actually kept under wraps for a long time and not only the reveal of it was surprising to the fans but the folks behind the games were astonished to see that they really made it. Even game's director Ed Boon expressed his awe in a Tweet.

The game Injustice 2 is a surprise itself by being an even improved version of its prequel Injustice: Gods Among Us. Plus, the huge array of popular character added to the fighter roster is a great achievement too. Rumor has it that, the game might even add some characters from the Watchmen franchise of DC Comics as well.

There is also some criticizing about NetherRealm Studios' constant adding of unnecessary or gimmick characters though but looks like the majority of the audience took their introduction with absolute optimism. How these characters will matter to the game is yet to be disclosed. We still don't know if each of the Ninja Turtles heroes will be solo heroes or are they part of a single tag-team.

Atom and Enchantress will have their own place with the former's shrinking abilities and the latter's malevolent magic. Rather than rocking her Suicide Squad movie look, Enchantress is designed mostly to look alike her comic-book counterpart. Atom's character will be available on December 12th's early access. Then Enchantress and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will join the fight in January and February respectively.
