Mostly focused on online co-op, this indie title has a several number of multiplayer modes to try out. Based on a community based mod of Valve's Source Engine, the game entered Early Access on Linux, Mac and PC in March 2013 for ten months following a failed Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the development before seeing an eventual full official release back in 2014. However, the game has been sold five million copies until now and has a trail of very positive feedback.

Also, the game sticks to a gameplay mechanics where effects of gunshots are more realistic unlike other known FPS titles where you take multiple shots and can still play. What makes it more challenging is a very intelligent AI system that makes it quite hard to kill an enemy. This forces players to work together towards success and defeat your enemies with teamwork. The sequel adds new features like adding an option to play as a female soldier and allows character customization as well.

Steam often gives away free game to players and some of them are really great to try aside from saving your money and perhaps even get interested for a latter installment sometime. Insurgency: Sandstorm tries to live up to fan expectation by keeping everything that made Insurgency so beloved to players. So, with no strings attached, you can definitely give this title a try before the offer expires soon.

IGN Editor Fired for Plagiarized Review Responds to Allegations

Fired IGN editor Filip Miucin talks about his involvement on the alleged plagiarism of Dead Cells game review.

When allegations of plagiarized review on newly released rogue-like metroidvania game Dead Cells came out online on August 7, people started calling IGN out like crazy while they quickly deleted the copy from their site and took action against the accused editor Filip Miucin by officially firing him from their team. After taking heavy fire for past few days over this controversy, the accused have finally decided to take YouTube for explaining his side of the story in a response video.

This is the first time when Miucin actually opened up about the fiasco that has disgraced him on public and cost him his job. However, his tone towards the matter was less than expected as he starts with saying that he didn't intentionally do that and then apologized to developer Motion Twin as well as his former employer company, except for YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming, who has accused him of content theft in the first place. It clearly shows that he was not sincere about his apology.

Even IGN was open enough to publicly issuing an apology to a relatively small YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming who made a video by making side-by-side comparison about how his original review video on the game was copied. Miucin only made the video when people kept attacking him on social media but this response video was heavily downvoted by viewers and was later removed by him. So, what really stopped Filip from mentioning the source for once that he was ripping off?

Previously, an article on Kotaku pointed out that he partially plagiarized the FIFA 18 review from NintendoLife site in last September. On account of that incident, original author of that review Chris Scullion stated over Miucin’s speech that, he clearly failed to admit his guilt. However, Boomstick Gaming has gained the spotlight and this newfound fame has tripled the number of Subscribers to the channel since then.

IGN Release Statement on Dead Cells Review Plagiarism

After an allegation of plagiarism was raised on media giant IGN over the review of Dead Cells, the site reached out to release a statement.

Fans of gaming and pop-culture heavily rely on entertainment websites and IGN being a media mogul in terms of that zone. After a video gone viral about them publishing a plagiarized review of a recently released game, Dead Cells, people have gone crazy as one of site's editors Filip Miucin turned out to be the culprit behind the misdeed. They came with a decision of terminating the person in question after running some internal investigation following the disaster surfaced on the internet.

YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming is literally a small channel compared to a giant enterprise that IGN is and they originally published a review of Dead Cells back in July. When the latter released a review on the game on August 6, he was surprised to find out that the site has completely plagiarized his own content. So, he published a video by making side-by-side comparison as proof of plagiarism by IGN. It soon became viral and people started questioning about their credibility.

When the video with title "IGN Copied my Dead Cells Review: What do I do?" was posted on YouTube, Boomstick Gaming has never thought he will get any response from them but people on internet helped him by watching it over a million times and IGN also noticed this matter. Realizing the gravity of the situation, they fired Miucin afterwards and released an official statement on Twitter issuing a public apology for not being able to maintain a standard everyone expects from them.

Dead Cells Review Plagiarism by IGN

YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming pointed out major similarities between their reviews on the game Dead Cells.

After it saw release on August 7, 2018 for Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, rogue-like metroidvania game Dead Cells by developer Motion Twin has been receiving mostly positive reviews from various video game enthusiasts. Just as many other popular gaming sites, media giant IGN also published their perspective on the title in a broad review recently but has eventually removed it for alleged plagiarism by YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming.

Back in July, relatively small YouTube channel Boomstick Gaming has first released a review of Dead Cells. Lately, they noticed some uncanny resemblance with the one published by IGN when they came across it. Although it could have been a coincidence, Boomstick ruled that out and made an allegation of plagiarism after comparing two reviews by doing a side-by-side analysis. The company decided to look further to investigate the claim and take out their article from site.

To hear it from the horse's mouth, we have a clip from Boomstick channel that explains the incident of the content copied from their video.

IGN has since gotten rid of the written version of the review article and video from their site, adding just an editor's note. They apparently begun to investigate about this matter and if the claim is true, then it is a horrible betrayal of trust from their side. Because, Boomstick is a channel with only 14,000 follower base and compared to the party in question that is a very tiny group of audience. What makes it worse is that, the review came from one of the site's editors Filip Miucin.

Since there are no checkpoints, you start over from the beginning of that level and it feature a combat system that is similar to Dark Souls games series even though the surroundings are in 2D. Despite the aspects that makes it a bit hard to win, Dead Cells will never really become disappointing just for the difficulties it presents to player.

This is not the first time when integrity and quality of a review came into question as we saw Warner Bros. pretending in past that covering of Middle-Earth: Shadow of War by prominent YouTuber and social media influencer PewDiePie was one of his independent works and no money were exchanged for it. Video game industry is a multi-billion dollar business and trusted personalities involved in gaming cannot just excuse them out of a controversy using ignorance.

New BioShock Game Reportedly in Development

Many gamers would agree that BioShock from developer 2K Games was a very unique entry among all other first-person shooter game franchises. 2007 saw the debut of the first game, then BioShock 2 came in 2010 and BioShock Infinite released in 2013. So, it's been five years since the last game of the series was released but we bet many fans are more than ready for a new installment at any time. With that, we currently have news that a new BioShock title is currently in development.

New BioShock Game Reportedly in Development

All the titles from the original series took place into the underwater city of Rapture, which was meant to be a utopia for elites. People become addicted to a substance called ADAM that grants superhuman abilities but also slowly drives them insane. Little orphan girls called "Little Sisters" were used to harvest ADAM and they were protected by giant robot like sentries nicknamed "Big Daddies". Third game of the series, BioShock Infinite took the adventure to the vintage sky city of Columbia.

News editor Jason Schreier for video game website Kotaku was recently working on a story with developer Hangar 13 about Mafia III, when he came to know about this information. There is a secret neighboring studio Parkside, currently working on an unannounced project and it is a new BioShock game. Now, this has come to many fans as relief as many of them thought that their series has ended with the fall of developer Irrational Games.

Although CEO of Take-Two Interactive, Strauss Zelnick has assured in 2015 that it wouldn't mean the end for BioShock series and they will continue it in future, they have not done anything convincing till date to back that up. However, it looks like Take-Two is making good on their word by bringing a brand-new BioShock game teaming up with publisher 2K Games. Already sold more than 25 million units, this steampunk first-person shooter was also being considered for a movie adaptation but ultimately failed though.

Officially, 2K Games have yet to confirm the validity of this news and there has been no statement from their end yet. With the release of BioShock: The Collection featuring remastered edition of BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the series made it's comeback in 2016 but that was it. There was no more news from them ever since and the entirety of this franchise are put into ice. If they are truly bringing back the series, then we would love to see them explore some new location for their fictional paradise this time.

Majors Battle Passes was introduced back in 2016 which used to bring various challenges on a daily or weekly basis. The biggest difference is that while Majors Battle Passes were seasonal, Dota Plus is ongoing.

The service is designed to improve your gameplay and performance to help your hero make progress, which is the sole purpose of the new Hero Leveling system. While a certain hero will level up by playing matches and earning level badges, it allows you to earn XP. Upon leveling up, the hero can unlock badges and Shards as rewards. If you complete at least a minimum of three games per week, you can get extra Shards to purchase rewards.

Regalia: Royal Edition Release Date Announced

A Kickstarter funded project by developer Pixelated Milk, Regalia is a JRPG video game which mainly took inspiration from the Final Fantasy days of the creators or the modern day classic Persona series. Even though the game is from a European studio, it is loosely based on JRPG theme while they also mixed up the storytelling adventure in it at the same time. Regalia in its core is a tactical RPG that has a great plot to follow you up on your journey.

Regalia: Royal Edition Release Date Announced

The game is about a young man named Kay who is out to restore his kingdom of Ascalia, interacting with other in-game characters who will come across as he advances in his quest. As he journeys to get back his throne again, Kay will lead us to some of the most cherished JRPG moments in recent times. The combats you will get into will be well rewarding if you are tactical enough because that is the main objective of the game.

At times, you can tone down the difficulty level a bit or heck, you can even skip battles if you do not wait to see what plot point is laid ahead of you. However, avoiding fights will not simply make the trouble go away because there is always something up in Ascalia and you've got to deal with them at some point. Just as you are already troubled with a lot that is happening around your kingdom, you also have to face the drama of your teammates’ as well.

Many may think that JRPG has to do something with being Japanese but the developers at Pixelated Milk believe that it is more to do with a certain gameplaying style. They pointed out that a game made in the West will certainly have unique design differences than the one made in the East but that is not essentially a bad thing. Games like Baldur’s Gate or Final Fantasy series has taken a very different approach to the genre despite being considered as consider role-playing games.

Indie studios often face a few common problems like shortage of crews on board and thus, it becomes very difficult for them to get the project up and running on time. The entire process of "just make a game together" turns out to be whole lot of painful than anyone ever thinks of initially. No matter how determined you are to get out of cliche stories and sometimes bothersome trends, you always have limitations slowing you down.

The game was never meant to be a hero's journey or how he bravely saves the world, it was planned as a single plot that could produce many spin-off stories if needed. Upon its entry on the other consoles in the market, Regalia surely will make a name for it and a unique identity of its own.

Regalia is a Japan-themed tactical RPG was released back in May 2017 for PC and according to the announcement of Pixelated Milk, the game is about to make its debut on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One as Regalia: Royal Edition in 2018. There will be no Early Access on Steam for the game and nor it will allow any in-game micro-transactions either. The Royal Edition contains a 30 hours long adventure to experience and many vivid characters to interact with.

The first character among the two is anthropomorphic pangolin goes by the name Donté Panlin, the Pangolier. This dashing fellow from Nivan Gallants has a resembling appearance of a cat that is stylized in the manner of the feline protagonist from Puss in Boots. In the beginning, some even mistakenly considered him as an armadillo too. This guy is always-on defense, ready to take on any monster and woo any creature that he crosses paths with.

Then there goes the innocent-looking fairy-like creature named The Dark Willow Mireska Sunbreeze, who is not as harmless as she seems. She was born to a fae merchant king and is full of fae tricks to charge at her enemies. Since she was raised in Revtel, she adopted the norms of manipulation and murder quite naturally. As it molded her character, she eventually ended up killing her own family and set out to choose her own path in life.

The Tweet from the official Twitter handle of DOTA 2 has twitted about the "Dueling Fates" update that contains all the details.

As per the official patch notes, Dota 2 matchmaking rating system is more accurate now, which ensures a better gaming experience for everyone in the arena. In this revamped MMR system, ranked and unranked players both will now be ranked on a six-month seasonal system. The exciting news is that the first ranked season is starting off within two weeks. There will also be profile medal for players on each season for their max MMR.

Keeping your previous season’s MMR on note, all of your MMR will be re-calibrated at the end of each season. Hero guide system has gone through the update to make more easily accessible for all 115 available heroes. The Turbo Mode will reduce your average re-spawn time, while serving you up more gold and experience. Valve Confirms New Dota 2 Heroes

Valve has just finished The International 2017 Dota 2 Competition a day ago with a blast, declaring two fresh out of the box new legends coming to the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game. While Valve did not announce either hero in a trailer staged in front of an audience following the day's matches, one of the heroes obviously took after a habitually guessed on expansion to the game.

The last time Valve added a new hero into the DOTA 2 roster was Monkey King, but even that was in December, 2016.

2 New Dota 2 Heroes

As references to the character showed up in Dota 2's codebase in May of this current year, Sylph has been supposedly chosen for quite a while. This additionally comes after Team Secret director Matthew Bailey revealed on his Twitter, that Valve notified the players and their associations that they would be adding more legends to the game as soon as they can.

Now check out this "Dota 2 – The Dueling Fates" clip below and witness the legends collide.

The main character is a smart sword-wielding pangolin, using a blade reminiscent of Zorro and somewhat Puss in Boots. The video displays him bouncing around on slopes, moving around his foes and incapacitating them with speedy swipes of his sharp edge in style of course. The second anonymous hero was given considerably less screen time, however has all the earmarks of being the supposed fourth soul, Sylph.

Our crisply presented pangolin warrior discloses to her the forest is safe now because of him and then she unexpectedly assaulted him with a minion of hers. The video draws its ending with a tease for the upcoming "Dueling Fates" update, which will probably be out not long after The International Dota 2 Competition finishes, just as always.

New heroes and some major changes will be part of the update. The International 2017 has been stuffed with many announcements so far and one of them was a new Dota 2 Card Game is also out now. Earlier, Valve and Open AI tests the capability of their artificial intelligence of their DOTA playing bot's ability to best against DOTA's most celebrated player.

Valve Corporation, inventors of DOTA 2 has really made so much improvement not just to Dota but to the world of the game and this is applaudable. However, the online battle arena of Dota is not a very friendly one to step your foot onto. Every new comer in a new game or existing game has, most times, faces hostile environment and a toxic one.

Now, Dota is allowing new players to enjoy the game by making them comfortable at first so they can ease into the game and not just run away from it by getting manhandled by the pros. In fixing the hostility to new player's experience, Valve made sure they only match new players with reliable high score, reducing chances of new players been bully in game.

Another way of making DOTA 2 interesting is by restricting the number of hero a new player can choose from. The process of choosing from over 100 heroes before can be frustrating for new players because they do not know which hero to pick from the numerous one available. Now this has been made much easier because it has been restricted to just 20 heroes but that is only for your first 25 game, which Valve believes will be awesome at helping players in learning and enjoying the game, so you can expect players like Juggernaut, Lich, Lion, Shadow Shaman, Sniper, Sven and Zeus.

Another intriguing moment in Dota is found at the first stage of learning the game; intricate strategies begin to take shape around you in the battle as against the numerous issues that caused unnecessary challenges for new players previously. More like a game of boards, just reading Dota’s rule all day would not make you a pro, only constant playing and playing with a friendly partner would make you a better player. Dota comes with a lot of mechanics and interactions that can be challenging to understand of course.

This is a game that lovers of Dota would really want to play but most especially, new players of the community. Dota 2 was built especially for new players and thumbs up to Valve for this welcoming initiative. Also, don't forget that the International Dota 2 Championships begins on August 7, worth a total prize amount of $23 million.

You can get the tip of an ice-berg on how much fun and captivating experience the game is offering in the launch trailer below.

Though the trailer doesn't give away much, it is longer than what Supergiant Games had done for two of their previous installments. To add credit to that, they also managed to not reveal much of the inside details of the game. You will realize this for yourself when you will play the game and discover first hand that how much more there is to explore yet as you move forward.

With a large imaginative world for the band of outlaws to roam over, Pyre features a sports-style "versus" mode aside their regular campaign mode. There are more than 50 PlayStation network trophies and a platinum one in Pyre for you to hunt down in for a more rewarding experience.
