Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo Throws Shade at Resident Evil 6

Through an Easter Egg within recently released Resident Evil 3 Remake demo, Capcom is taking shot at Resident Evil 6.

Fans of survival horror game series Resident Evil are currently busy playing as former S.T.A.R.S. officer Jill Valentine in newly released Raccoon City demo of Resident Evil 3 Remake and trying to find their way out of a zombie-infested town.

Although recently released RE3 demo only contains an early section of the game, there are many Easter Eggs for prying eyes and one of them seems to be mocking Resident Evil 6, one of the most divisive releases of entire RE franchise.

Raccoon City demo is full of connections to past titles and important details regarding T-virus outbreak. Wandering across streets and underground subway, you can see a many posters out there and one of them even features RE3 key art.

Players can notice one particular in-game poster for a fictional movie titled "Disaster" at one point that is a parody of RE6 box art. It may seem like a coincidence but developer/publisher Capcom is clearly a referencing to their failed 2012 game.

Though Resident Evil 6 has sold over 9.2 million copies and is the third best-selling Capcom game, it received lowest scores for any RE games. Moreover, RE6 moved over from horror genre and almost became an action experience.

Despite having nearly 600 people working on it, players have heavily criticized it for gameplay, story, and overall pacing problem. Critics have generally hated it for those same reasons as well and therefore, technically it was a disaster.

Last year, Capcom inserted a number of in-game secrets in Resident Evil 2 Remake for players to discover like age old joke of "Jill Sandwich" on a restaurant flyer and a reference to helicopter pilot Brad Vickers in a recruitment poster for S.T.A.R.S.

Resident Evil 3 Remake is scheduled to arrive on April 3, 2020 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. On release, there will presumably more Easter Eggs to discover and hopefully one of them ends up teasing a Dino Crisis remake.

Resident Evil and Coronavirus Outbreak Has Creepy Connection

Twitter user finds unsettling connection between Resident Evil universe and Coronavirus outbreak in China.

Not too long after real-life World War III was averted lately, entire world is now talking about a deadly outbreak of Coronavirus, which has originated in China and now is reportedly affecting other places around the world as well.

Due to worldwide media attention, real-time strategy simulation game Plague Inc. is seeing a sudden sales spike. However, some really uncanny connection is recently discovered between Coronavirus and Resident Evil game franchise.

Main plot premise for this popular survival horror game series by developer/publisher Capcom is largely focused on viral outbreaks. Initially an epidemic breaks out at fictional Midwestern small town Raccoon City before going global.

Posing as a pharmaceutical company, Umbrella Corporation tries developing deadly viruses to create bio-weapons for military purposes. Their cover was blown following t-Virus incident that led to destruction of entire city and its population.

Apparently, a biological research lab in Wuhan, China has a logo that is exactly a duplicate for Umbrella Corporation logo, only color-swapped. According to latest reports, Wuhan is currently declared quarantined by Chinese government.

It is a bizarre correlation between Resident Evil universe and a real-world bio-research company located in Wuhan bearing a logo identical to Umbrella Corp. that was responsible for a zombie outbreak caused by accidental experiments.

Twitter user Undoomed has pointed out a number of weird links among Coronavirus outbreak and Resident Evil.

Undoomed has also noted out another point that "corona" is actually "racoon" spelled back, which is a wrong spelling and sort of a stretch. This tie is still not as obvious and on the nose like similar looking logos of two companies.

Why RSLW copied Umbrella Corporation logo by swapping green and white instead of red and white is still unexplained. It may very well be just a very odd co-incident but then again, were they not really aware of a fictional parallel?

Another prominent point here is that, 2012 release of Resident Evil 6 follows a storyline of C-virus outbreak on local populace of Lanshiang, China caused by Neo-Umbrella that fan-favorite series protagonists desperately tries to avert.

Would it be a far-fetched idea thinking that Capcom had some conspiracy theorist on board creating backstory of Resident Evil that are coming true? And if those predictions were right, then we are most certainly doomed for good.

When the Japanese video game developer initially started working on original Resident Evil back in 1996, they were not sure how successful their reinvention of Sweet Home would turn out to be but never expected it to be a best-seller.

The company was so impressed by its success that they started developing a sequel just after a month. Although they developed and scrapped an early version after completing 60% of the game, Resident Evil 2 eventually became an instant classic and even bigger hit.

In 2005, Capcom took a more action-oriented approach with Resident Evil 4 but after realizing how far they have moved from the core survival elements, the studio took a detour to roots of horror by launching Resident Evil 7 in 2017.

Till date, both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 remains the best-selling games of RE franchise by selling over 11 million and 8.8 million copies worldwide respectively over various platforms despite garnering mixed reactions from critics and fans.

Recently released Resident Evil 2 Remake has already shipped over 4 million physical copies and gaining critical acclaim from almost everyone, helping Capcom to surpass an impressive 90 million copies sold from its entire series and becoming their best-selling franchise.

The base game of Dead by Daylight has offered 50% and there is a bunch of add-on content from the game as well as Dying Light that put forward 33-35% at best. We leave these completely on you. Outlast 2 however, is a nice catch at a whopping 70%.

Titles like 7 Days to Die (64%), Dead Rising 4 (30%), For Honor (33%), Killing Floor 2 (67%), Prey (50%), Resident Evil 7 (35%) and Vampyr (33%) are either not worth going for at this reduction rate because they are worth the wait for a greater deal.

We also opted out from picking some of the games from the sale even though they had a serious discount slapped on them, simply because they weren't worth the bucks for this festive season. Nevertheless, you don't need to be influenced by us and can still pick them up if you really want to.
