Spider-Man: Miles Morales Rumored to Include Marvel's Spider-Man Remaster

Latest rumor suggests that Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be bundled with free Marvel's Spider-Man remaster.

Back in June, developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment made a surprise announcement for upcoming superhero action-adventure game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales at PlayStation 5 Reveal Event.

Although not a complete sequel and just a standalone experience worth 8-10 hours of gameplay, Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PS5 will be arriving bundled with a copy of Marvel's Spider-Man remaster, according to recent report.

Sony previously used original Spider-Man game to showcase amazing power of their next-gen console hardware for a comparison of loading times between PS4 and PS5 systems, where the latter made loading screen almost non-existent.

Insomniac and Sony are counting on Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales big time to be a seller of newest gaming console this holiday season, featuring titular teenager hero from Brooklyn on first official box art for future PlayStation 5 games.

Insomniac's hugely successful 2018 Spider-Man game has led PS4 player community to expect a follow-up title for next-gen console and even though not a traditional sequel, Miles Morales will be a spin-off like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

In essence, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a companion game to its 2018 predecessor and adding a remastered version of Marvel's Spider-Man would only add greater value for fans to purchase a copy on PlayStation 5 at launch on holiday 2020.

Sony Interactive Entertainment allowed their first-party developers to offer players higher frame rate or better resolution. Marvel's Spider-Man was smoothly running at 30 FPS on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro consoles.

Insomniac has yet to clear out what compromises will be made to get 4K/60 FPS output for Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It could very well be that turning on Performance Mode will disable real-time ray tracing and other rendering effects.

When working on previous game, creative director Bryan Intihar of Marvel's Spider-Man had an idea of making Miles Morales a part of Peter Parker's world and therefore, they revealed him to players in E3 2017 demo during PlayStation Briefing.

Given a different and multicultural background he comes from, Miles needed his own game to explore his origin story. He will be having a new plot, set-pieces, villains and unique quests to take on within New York City of Marvel's Spider-Man.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is DLC or Standalone Game?

Insomniac Games confirms that Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be a standalone game for PS5.

Given how much of a success 2018 superhero action-adventure title Marvel's Spider-Man from developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment was, a follow-up sequel became almost inevitable at this point.

In recent digital showcase for PlayStation 5 Reveal Event, next chapter of Marvel's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler is unveiled and people are heavily confused whether it's a DLC to previous game or a full standalone experience.

A recent interview published by The Telegraph with PlayStation executive earlier has lead entire gaming community being confused about newly revealed spin-off game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales for upcoming PlayStation 5.

One of the most exciting takeaways from PS5 digital event was Miles Morales and that hype has quickly faded out when it was revealed not to be a full-game but a DLC expansion to Marvel's Spider-Man game, enhanced for next-gen console.

In an attempt to dismiss confusion and rumors among fans after PS5 reveal event, Insomniac had to come out announcing Spider-Man: Miles Morales is in fact a standalone adventure set within Marvel's Spider-Man universe and not a DLC.

On behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment, executive vice president and European business operations head Simon Rutter referred Spider-Man: Miles Morales to be "an expansion and an enhancement" of original Spider-Man game for PS4.

Rutter was implying that Spider-Man would be playable on PS5 console, pointing out Insomniac Games working on major enhancements and game engine, most likely to install some groundbreaking features of PlayStation 5 technology.

Sony successfully acquired Insomniac last year but has yet to announce a PS5 version of Marvel's Spider-Man. However, they used footage from the PS4-exclusive game for an early PlayStation 5 tech demo last month, highlighting key-features.

Following PS5 reveal, Jason Schreier took Twitter to clarify whether Miles Morales is a DLC or full game.

Though smaller in length than many traditional games, Sony will sell the game as standalone title for PlayStation 5, according to an insider. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier compared Miles Morales to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

Originally, developer Naughty Dog attempted to work on Lost Legacy as an expansion for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End but ended up releasing it as a standalone yet relatively shorter than a full-priced game in 2017, priced $39.99 only.

A title card from Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales announcement mentions the game as "PlayStation Exclusive", not outright specifying if Sony will be keeping this one to PS5 console only or will release a PS4 version in near future.

Sony never talked about anything similar to Smart Delivery system of Microsoft, which offers free Xbox Series X upgrades for Xbox One games. Leaving these issues unanswered leaves a question of transparency to their consumer base.

Debuting through first game, Brooklyn teenager Miles Morales was foreshadowed to be a superhero successor of Peter Parker after bitten by a genetically-altered spider, especially teased in mid-credits scene of 2018 Spider-Man game.

Miles would often become playable for certain segments of original game where Peter was main protagonist. Insomniac Games has yet to confirm if players get to play as Parker at some point of upcoming standalone spin-off title.

Sony has created this debacle of misleading marketing by not explicitly wording their message. Whereas it will take nearly 40 hours for Marvel's Spider-Man to complete, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be a relatively smaller walkthrough.

PlayStation 4-exclusive title Marvel's Spider-Man was a massive hit, outselling Batman: Arkham Asylum on release. Sony is eager to repeat similar level of success with Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales when it arrives on holiday 2020.
