Marvel Video Games to Create Original Stories

Since the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of live-action Iron Man film in 2008, Marvel has always tried and carefully maintained the stories and characters' tie to each other. Whether it is the blockbuster superhero movies like The Avengers or the super-hit Netflix shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, they kept that chain intact and literally “It’s all connected”.

Recently, at the 2017 DICE Summit, Marvel Games' Creative Director Bill Rosemann has opened up about their latest gaming ventures. He revealed that Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy or Marvel’s Spider-Man video game from Insomniac Games wouldn't be tied to any recent storylines. In fact, they will stand out to the fans with their original plotlines. The developers are given the freedom of choosing elements from all of Marvel history and choose what suits with their project at hand.

Currently, there are at least four confirmed video game projects in the works with Marvel Games; Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite and Square Enix’s The Avengers Project for now. There might also be a few more on the pipeline that gamers will see in the upcoming years. Hopefully, that will give us some great, brand-new adventures to live on.

People who have seen the Guardians of the Galaxy film will be able to relate to the Telltale Series of game adaptations as they play. Rosemann reassures that, considering the audience for the games, they have decided to follow this motto. However, the production of these projects will not be rushed on the developers to forcibly try and fit the story to the timeline of their movie counterparts.
