Metroid Prime: Trilogy Switch Release Date Leaked by Retailer

Leaked listing by Swedish retailer reveals Nintendo Switch version of Metroid Prime: Trilogy release date.

A few years back, Metroid Prime: Trilogy for Nintendo Switch console was leaked online by Swedish retailer Inet. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its release ever since, following every other rumors of its arrival every now and then.

Inet has most recently added a new retailer listing online for Switch version of Metroid Prime: Trilogy with a release date of June 19, 2020 but as soon as people begin to notice it and words starts spreading, they were quick to take it down.

Rumors for all three Metroid Prime games in high-definition are ongoing for quite some time and only available Metroid games on Switch are currently Metroid and Super Metroid, which requires a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.

Although leaks and rumors as such should always be taken with a grain of salt and healthy dose of skepticism, hint of a new Metroid game in recently revealed announcement trailer of Paper Mario: The Origami King actually backs it up.

A planned Nintendo Direct episode for June 2020 was canceled earlier due to COVID-19 and Nintendo can casually drop a brand-new trailer for Switch version of Metroid Prime: Trilogy anytime they want via social media channels.

If they can casually reveal latest Paper Mario game only months before its release, then why not do the same for Metroid Prime: Trilogy? Fans are likely to appreciate its Switch port since Metroid Prime 4 isn't coming out very soon.

Nintendo Switch is one of the hottest platforms of current generation for video game ports, especially if for classic Wii U titles and therefore, an HD remaster of Metroid Prime: Trilogy is a potential best-seller for its publisher company.

Nintendo can reignite hype for Metroid Prime 4 as they continue development by releasing Switch port of Metroid Prime: Trilogy. However, we may not see protagonist Samus Aran to return soon as the game is delayed in 2019.

Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD May Be Announced for Switch

Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD and Super Metroid remake for Switch is rumored to get revealed at The Game Awards 2019.

Fans of sci-fi action Metroid game franchise has been waiting for series protagonist Samus Aran to make an anticipated comeback for some time after she last appeared on Nintendo 3DS title Metroid: Samus Returns in 2017.

According to renowned Nintendo leaker LeakyPandy, there might be an announcement for Metroid Prime: Trilogy HD re-release and a remake of Super Metroid for Nintendo Switch, most likely to be at The Game Awards 2019.

It was revealed following an accidental leak from Walmart Canada that upcoming action-adventure game Metroid Prime 4 was set to come out by the end of 2019 but that project has been completely scrapped to restart development.

An idea for Metroid Prime: Trilogy for Switch has been out there when Nintendo had to delay Metroid Prime 4 earlier this year to give players something to keep busy and building up hype for their highly-anticipated project.

Then a new listing for Switch version of Metroid Prime: Trilogy showed up at Swedish retailer site Inet that was scheduled for February 2019. It was particularly quoted there to have a reveal at The Game Awards 2018 but that never happened.

Nintendo possibly held up its official confirmation last year due to unexpected holdup of Metroid Prime 4 and employed original Metroid Prime series developer Retro Studios to start working on that project from scratch.

As a game publisher, Nintendo loves doing remakes and most recent entry in Metroid series, Samus Returns was even a remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus from Game Boy system, both of which were a critical and commercial success.

If recent claims are actually true then hopefully an early release window will be set for next year, may be February 2020. Aside from long-awaited Metroid Prime: Trilogy, Super Metroid remake for Switch will feel a lot like Samus Returns.

Metroid Prime 4 for Switch Restarts Development

Halfway through development, Nintendo announced starting over Metroid Prime 4 for Switch from Retro Studios.

Aside from getting an official announcement from back in E3 2017, upcoming first person action-adventure game Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch console had no other details revealed except for a leaked listing that says the game is coming by the end of 2019.

However, things have changed as publisher Nintendo has made another official announcement lately regarding the current development progress for the title, revealing that the studio has restarted development their highly-anticipated project.

Watch out the official development update for the game by Senior Managing Executive Officer, Shinya Takahashi below.

Whatever level of development phase they were in; the studio completely scrapped the game to start from scratch shifting with original developer of Metroid Prime series, Retro Studios and they had some pretty valid reasons for their actions.

According to Takahashi, current state of progress has not reached the standards they seek and given their knack for the highest quality in every game, Nintendo simply wants to live up to fans' expectations above anything else.

His unexpected decision from the publisher out of commitment to quality also means that the game will not be coming out anytime soon as they originally planned and the delay could simply take another year or so but this is probably for the best for fans.

Seeing no apparent follow up on the status of the upcoming title since 2017, fans only assumed that maybe they will hear some news at Nintendo Direct Mini January 2019 or at E3 2019 but the update came before any of the above was about to happen.

We have no glimpse of the gameplay or story so far to speculate anything on other than a logo that was shown in first look as a part of E3 2017, which was probably from an early period of working and no one had a clue then that everything will get rebooted halfway through.

Metroid Prime 4 will see return of series protagonist Samus Aran and will serve as a sequel to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. On the bright side, the IP is now headed back at home with Retro Studios, who previously helmed the original trilogy.

Metroid Prime 4 Release Date Leaked

An accidental retail listing has leaked the possible release date of upcoming Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch.

The announcement for first-person adventure game Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch was made back in E3 2017 and Nintendo has not revealed anything else yet, probably because of having a plan of doing that on the upcoming Nintendo Direct Mini January 2019.

However, a recent leak may have revealed a possible release date for the game but before we talk about that in details, we would suggest you to take all of this with a grain of salt for the nature of these leaks; they are still not official confirmation.

Even though it is not anywhere near the way Walmart Canada accidentally leaked unannounced E3 2018 games last year, Czech online video game retail store SuperGamer have made a listing for the game that reveals the release date being November 29, 2019.

Series protagonist Samus Aran maybe returning by the end of the year after all in one of the most highly anticipated releases if this actually turns out to be true and we do hope that it is. The description says it is the "planned release date" and we may get a confirmation at E3 2019.

Players have their reasons to be hyped out for the game as the entire trilogy is praised by the critics and the recent release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has made people nostalgic about the galactic bounty hunter Galactic Federation, who is also a part of the roster of fighters.

Nintendo pushing the release window during the holiday season of the year makes perfect sense as they can sell a huge number of copies for Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch consoles with ease and we are only ten months away from the launch now.
