Released earlier this year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, action role-playing game Vampyr from developer Dontnod Entertainment and publisher Focus Home Interactive was able to garner a mixed to average review alongside one million copies sold in just over two months. Currently, Fox 21 (Homeland, Sons of Anarchy) has been eyeing to produce a television adaptation of the game with McG (Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Terminator Salvation) and DJ2 Entertainment.

Vampyr is Getting Story Mode

Vampyr is getting a Hard Mode and a Story Mode that is more focused on narrative in the next update.

Despite having a decent game mechanics and character development, action role-playing Vampyr from developer Dontnod Entertainment and publisher Focus Home Interactive faced some criticism for combat, which was optional and some choice-based system.

This was taken into account and for those who thought that overall combat system sucks and not challenging enough, Dontnod has decided to release a difficulty update as well to make the action sequences tougher as a story mode on this September 26.

Narrative structure of the game is so well-built that initially many graphical and mechanical glitches will skip sight. You may even end up forming attachment to the related characters that you find it hard to kill them even when it is necessary.

However, all of these above still doesn't make up for the unsatisfying experience you get from the combat and there's been a lot of complaints on that particular aspect. Good thing is, Dontnod takes those criticism from fans very seriously and intends to do better as part of ongoing support.

Hard Mode will make the gameplay system much more difficult than it is now and killing enemies will earn them less experience. So, players need to take on more citizens if they wish to rise in power. Options to choose from these modes will be presented at the beginning of a new game.

Story Mode on the other hand, highlights narrative of Dr. Jonathan Reid's quest while ignoring combat for most parts. Then there is a third alternative of Normal Mode for anyone who would want to have the original Vampyr experience. They also added Nvidia Ansel support for taking awesome screenshots.

Vampyr is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, already selling a million copies within two months. Seeing an untapped potential in the story of the game, Fox 21 (Homeland, Sons of Anarchy) is going to produce a television adaptation very soon.

The plot of the title revolves around Jonathan Reid, who is a surgeon living in London of World War I-era, where a Spanish flu outbreak takes place and he turns into a blood-sucking vampire. Although there are many TV shows out there based on Vampire-themes, this one will hopefully be a bit different.
