Warcraft 3: Reforged Announced

Blizzard Entertainment is bringing back their classic RTS title in an all-new HD remastered version as Warcraft 3: Reforged.

The question that arose back in February 2018 that whether developer/publisher Blizzard Entertainment will release a remastered version of their fantasy real-time strategy game Warcraft III is finally answered at BlizzCon 2018 today and we couldn't be happier.

During their opening ceremony, Blizzard took the stage to offer everyone a glimpse of their reworked version of the game, now branded as Warcraft III: Reforged and it simply recaptures the intensity when it was first launched back in 2002.

The cinematic opens up with two soldiers from Human Alliance and the Orcish Horde were fighting each other to an exhausting end in the middle of a field. Skies were roaring and then the army of Burning Legion returns with a reign of fire.

One of those comet-like object falls near the warriors and an Infernal in a glowing fiery aura comes out of it as a common threat to the Human and Orc. Moments later, two of them fell to their demise battling the demon and their blood soaks the land.

Announced for a 2019 release, Reforged is based on the original Reign of Chaos and comes with its original expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. Aside from graphical upgrade, the remake is upgraded with an advanced UI and World Editor to support mods.

Every hero, unit, building and environment elements of the classic real-time strategy are being recreated and now they have 4K support. Players can choose from four races to take on over 62 missions taking place into various continents of the game.

When Patch 1.29 update for the game was released, it introduced the 16:9 widescreen display support and hero balance tweaks. This was slightly unusual considering the last update that came for the game was over a year ago and then a long pause.

It also got an updated installer with changed interface then alongside other fan-favorite titles like Diablo II and StarCraft to make them compatible for modern systems. From then, speculations started to fly from fans about a Remastered Edition.

However, developers were actually updating the client so the players who owned the original title would be able to play with the new wave of Reforged owners. Blizzard is already open for pre-orders including a Spoils of War Edition of the game.

Most of the community member has been asking them for years to polish the game visuals without making any further change in gameplay. This actually made things easier for the company and helped them balance the game like StarCraft.

Die-hard fans of the series had high hopes for getting an announcement for Warcraft IV though but still everyone appreciated the remake. Besides, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is what set the concepts for World of Warcraft lore in the first place.

So, regarding all the enthusiastic anticipation and respect it deserves from players, Reforged can very well turn out to be one of the biggest titles to come to Mac and PC in 2019 and it wouldn't be of any surprise if it does.

It was months ago in August, when Blizzard Entertainment announced through an official video that they were working on a couple of Diablo projects that they would love to showcase at BlizzCon 2018 and Diablo Immortal is the latest in the line from the franchise.

The new cinematic released for the game reveals that it takes place between the events of DiabloII: Lord of Destruction and Diablo III, coming to both Android and iOS. Although many fans were waiting for Diablo IV, they got this but it doesn't look that bad either.

Currently available demo lets you get into the action with a touchscreen right away and it does well for a fast-paced action game. Except for Witch Doctor, most of the playable classes are available but hardcore fans of the franchise can skip this one out.

The developers also anticipated that players probably are hoping for a sequel game based on the Lord of Terror and subtly left hints that it might take more time to deliver what they want. Despite having the feel of Diablo III, the game needs more polishing to have appeal and acceptance from fans.

This sudden update after quite a while isn't the real news here even if it seems a bit odd because Blizzard dropped the last update for Warcraft III in 2017. They've been also working to update their other classic fan-favorite games like Diablo 2 and StarCraft.

This is an attempt to restore them to glory they deserve as par present day games running on modern operating systems. The recent updated installer interface is what that drew attention of keen eyes of game theorists already.

It was pointed out that Warcraft III has an updated installer now which is akin to the current Battle.net launcher. Now, this fresh change to one of the legacy games can be for better merger with Blizzard’s Battle.net client.

The installation process of the game has also changed as it installs both of the games now. So, that brings hope to the fans that it can lead to a Warcraft III Remastered Edition just like Blizzard's StarCraft Remaster last year.

Coincidentally enough, the news of the update hits us at the same time Blizzard is busy making an announcement for a Warcraft III competitive tournament invite that will run from February 27-28 on Twitch.

This contest is open for Free-for-All, 4v4 battles and other friendly fights for Warcraft III professionals from worldwide. This is just an initiative to bring the game to the arena of esports tournament trend of recent times.

We won't be much surprised if Blizzard Entertainment decides to announce the Warcraft III: Remastered during the Warcraft III tournament and this is very much a possibility. Otherwise, they might simply push the announcement to BlizzCon 2018 later this year.

Although the official sources haven't yet releases a statement on the speculation but it's good to see that a renowned game developer like Blizzard isn't giving up on their old titles just yet. A community-created mod for the game named Dota 2 is ruling Valve's digital distribution platform Steam for years.
