Resident Evil 3 Remake Leaked on PlayStation Network

Shortly ahead of an awaited reveal, first look of Resident Evil 3 Remake got leaked on PlayStation Network.

Ever since long-anticipated survival horror classic title Resident Evil 2 Remake was released earlier, developer/publisher Capcom has been working on development on remake of its sequel or as it appeared according to some rumors.

Turns out, all those sweet rumors from past months were actually true as Resident Evil 3 Remake cover art has been leaked lately on PlayStation Network shortly ahead of an official announcement, spotted by Gamstat.

There were only words of speculations and some occasional vague tease by Capcom so far but now there is finally some hard evidence. Data-miners have dug out some official covers on tracking site Gamestat that showed up at PSN.

Lead character Jill Valentine and her ally Carlos Oliveria have received a revised look along with titular antagonist character Nemesis. Two protagonists are standing on backdrop of Raccoon City while their relentless stalker is looming over it.

Twitter user Nibellion posted all three promotional images in a recent post after it has been leaked earlier.

Both Carlos and Jill look very different in their revised form than their appearance from 1999 original game. Nemesis however, doesn't look any less scary at all and is now featured on promo unlike his predecessor Mr. X from RE2 Remake.

In past couple of weeks, reports are coming in pretty strong for an upcoming reveal of RE3 Remake, which is set for a 2020 release and scheduled to show up either at The Game Awards 2019 or Jump Festa 2020 later this month.

One of these cover art for Japanese region shows off a special edition titled "Biohazard RE: 3 Z Version". Since the cat is out of the bag already, Capcom may decide to reveal the game a little earlier than originally expected.

Given how RE2 Remake has seen immense success this year, release of Resident Evil 3 Remake was almost inevitable. This leak clearly indicates of an official confirmation that may come soon in form of a new teaser trailer anytime now.

Capcom to Announce Two New Games at Jump Festa 2020

Capcom will reportedly reveal two brand-new games at annual anime event Jump Festa 2020 in December.

Year 2019 has been exceptionally well for renowned video game developer/publisher Capcom, launching some of their most successful titles like Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion and Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Of course, they would like to keep that flow going and release more games to keep players engaged. To that, a recent rumor is suggesting that Capcom is planning to reveal two upcoming games at Jump Festa 2020 anime event.

A report on Gematsu quotes Japanese website Ryokutya2089, which claimed that Capcom plans to show four titles at annual Jump Festa 2020 event next month including MHW: Iceborne, Mega Man Zero/ZX and two unreleased games.

However, official source says that they are only going to demonstrate two of above-mentioned games. One of those reveal could very much be Resident Evil 3 Remake that YouTube channel Spawn Wave speculated to drop at The Game Awards 2019.

Both Iceborne expansion and Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection are coming out next year in January. So it really makes sense for Capcom to let players take an early preview at those games and build some hype in advance.

Jump Festa is taking place in a few weeks next month, same as The Game Awards and theory for a reveal of RE3 Remake at the latter only seems reasonable as it is one of the biggest stages for companies to announce their latest AAA-games.

Also, RE2 Remake has been shortlisted for "Game of the Year" nomination for this year at TGA. It would be an epic moment for all fans to see their favorite classic survivor horror title winning and its sequel getting announced.

Since there is no official confirmation for this rumor, they might stick to regular plan for Jump Festa and prepare for a showcase at The Game Awards 2019, or take stage at their high-profile Capcom Cup 2019 event at the same time.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne X Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds Event

Frozen frontiers of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will collide in frosty new Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds event.

A running trend for action role-playing game Monster Hunter: World, developer/publisher Capcom frequently arranges special limited time event by teaming up with popular franchise of their own and various others for.

In a latest collaboration quest, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne expansion is having a crossover with The Frozen Wilds DLC of 2017 PlayStation 4-exclusive title Horizon Zero Dawn, which is live now for players on Sony consoles.

For a two-part event quest adventure, HZD protagonist character Aloy will step into icy grounds of "New World" to hunt down terrifying beasts. Being a natural hunter of mech creatures, she will have no trouble fitting in a frigid terrain.

Aside from playing as Aloy, there is a chance for Hunters to craft Light Bowgun, Stormslinger Prototype. This one is a ranged weapon from HZD expansion DLC that nicely fits into MH: World in terms of design aesthetics and usage.

Stormslinger used to be an upgrade for spear that Banuk shaman Ourea wielded in The Frozen Wilds and it now acts more like a ropecaster. Not only its power capacity has been expanded but an overcharge can also cause major blowback.

Similar to fierce canine beast Scorcher from HZD, you have thunderous beast Zinogre to face in Iceborne next month but make sure that you at least have a Master Rank of 24 or above and packing some Thunder Resistance before a confrontation.

Those who think that Light Bowgun doesn't quite suit your style can still get some high-tech flair. Upon completing Into the Frozen Wilds quest, players can earn two Banuk Warrior Symbols that can be forged into Focus Pendant.

Second part of Horizon Zero Dawn collaboration with Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will be kick-starting at some point in December 2019 and players will be able to take part in these events from now until January 10, 2020.

Not too long ago, Capcom brought in Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy from classic survival horror game Resident Evil 2 Remake for Halloween events. However, The Frozen Wilds quests will remain exclusive to PS4 platform unlike that event.

Monster Hunter: World came out in January 2018 as latest installment of Monster Hunter mainline series. Its first expansion Iceborne has already launched on consoles while waiting for a scheduled PC release on January 9, 2020.

Resident Evil 3 Remake Reportedly Coming in 2020

Capcom will reportedly release Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in 2020, following success of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

It has been reported and rumored several times since reveal of survival horror classic title Resident Evil 2 Remake at E3 2018 event that developer/publisher Capcom might be interested in a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Reported by news outlet VGC and Spawn Wave YouTube channel, Capcom has been allegedly working on development of RE3: Nemesis remake that they are planning to release next year followed by an announcement at The Game Awards 2019.

In past, Spawn Wave has record of successfully leaking upcoming From Software release Elden Ring before official reveal at E3 2019. Besides, several other sources are reporting on the same rumor as well with a bit lesser skepticism.

Also, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi mentioned earlier that they are open to ideas of a remake for 1999 original PlayStation game if there is a significant fan-demand, which caused RE2Make a possibility and sold 4.7 million units so far.

Capcom took Friday the 13th of July in 2018 to tease fans by posting an image on Twitter of RE3 antagonist Nemesis, comparing him to notoriously relentless stalker Jason Voorhees, both chasing and haunting their victims persistently.

Then earlier this year, they mysteriously tease fans on social media by putting a shot of protagonist Claire Redfield from RE2 Remake standing next to a massive hole in a wall before arrival of Mr. X, a few months after its launch.

When Capcom was looking for RE Ambassadors within United States back in August 2019, people were hoping for confirmation on RE3 Remake but it turned out to be a brand-new Resident Evil game titled Project Resistance.

However, during Closed Beta program of this team survival multiplayer experience last month, some players started to notice Resident Evil 3 save room theme is being played in-game, which is a rather interesting nod to add for sure.

Moreover, lead character Jill Valentine and her fellow Raccoon City survivor Carlos Oliveira has briefly appeared in first trailer of the game to add more fuel to that spark of fire, having fans to speculate even harder for RE3Make.

If show host Geoff Keighley truly ends up announcing Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake at the big night of TGA 2019 next month, it is most likely to come out at some later point in 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.

Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Announced

Capcom announced Street Fighter V: Champion Edition featuring all characters, costumes and stages for 2020.

When originally launched for PC and PlayStation 4 back in 2016, side-scrolling fighting game Street Fighter V only featured 16 characters and lacked content but developer/publisher Capcom took care of that with series of updates.

In January 2018, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition came out with new game modes and DLC characters. Today, a brand-new version with all previous content titled Street Fighter V: Champion Edition is announced to release on February 14, 2020.

Street Fighter Cameo in Mortal Kombat Rejected by Capcom

A cameo by Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat series was proposed but shot down by Capcom.

Video game crossover is an idea that is most commonly adapted in fighting games and a very popular among fans. Often times they would collaborate with inter-company franchises or bring out fighters from third-party series.

There was a time when Mortal Kombat creator has requested for characters from their rival series Street Fighter to make a cameo in their brutally violent fighting title but that proposal was eventually declined by folks at Capcom.

It was revealed recently in an interview with Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono that Ed Boon has reached out for a cameo appearance of a character from Capcom's fighting games into one of NetherRealm Studios' own.

People working at Capcom back then was collectively uncomfortable with the idea of Street Fighter icons like Chun-Li or Ryu getting viciously murdered by Kitana, Scorpion or Sub-Zero with a deadly "Fatality" finishing move.

Yoshinori Ono talked details about a collaboration effort between both parties and how it fell down in the end.

It's true that a proposal for a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat was rejected by Capcom. But it wasn't me personally! There were many people at the company that felt that it wasn't a good fit for our characters. I actually met Ed at the Brazil game show and spoke to him personally about it. So it's true - but I didn't make the decision!

Characters from these two popular franchises have made a name for them within gaming industry and have appeared in many different games from other companies but they never crossed paths with each other yet.

Although their characters do not match well due to tonal differences, a possibility for future collaboration is not necessarily ruled out since they have fair share of crossover like Marvel Vs. Capcom and SNK Vs. Capcom series under their belt.

RELATED: The King of Fighters XV Announced

Despite belonging to fighting games genre, both MK series and SF are popular among fans for distinct traits like addictive gameplay or gory combat moves with an established lore full of charismatic characters to back that up.

Once, both Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter games have totally dominated arcade era but that competition has cooled down when these titles found a new home in consoles to a wide range of audience from different ages.

NetherRealm collided with Injustice franchise previously and brought heroes of DC Universe to their game. Even though it didn't work out this time, Capcom is always more than happy to work in partnership if they find something they like.

A more anime-esque world of Street Fighter would probably make not much sense in a darker world of Mortal Kombat for sure but that possibility is not completely out of the table yet as Capcom has not completely denied anything.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Becomes Best-Selling Fighting Video Game

Popular Nintendo Switch brawler Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now best selling fighting game of all-time.

Despite getting leaked before launch, hotly anticipated 2018 crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate from developer Bandai Namco Studios and publisher Nintendo managed to make and break many sales records.

It was recently revealed in a half-year financial report that SSBU has surpassed lifetime sales of Wii U home console in less than six months and now became best selling fighting game of all-time, ousting previous title holder Street Fighter II.

SFII was released back in 1991 and by September 30, 2019, a total number of 15.7 million units have been sold and this is a significant victory for Smash Bros. Ultimate considering how little time it took to exceed that impressive number.

Also, Street Fighter II released a series of updated versions over the years and ports for many different platforms. Yet, it took less than a year and Nintendo Switch as a single launch platform for SSBU to beat lifetime sales record of SF2.

More of its success can be pointed towards strong sales of Nintendo's eighth-generation hybrid console Switch. That record will keep expanding with recent release of Nintendo Switch Lite, which has been doing very well in all regions.

A title that brings together both casual and competitive players, SSB Ultimate is largely popular to a wide audience range due to its ensemble of fan-favorite fighters assembled from many third-party games that are not Nintendo property.

More of these characters are frequently added to its roster through Fighters Pass DLC including themed music and stages. Post-launch content updates are another major factor that contributes to sales of Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Although Super Smash Bros. Ultimate did better than other Switch games such as Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it has yet to outdo Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and its overall sales of 19.01 million units.
