Resident Evil 2 Remake To Include Deleted Concepts

Upcoming Resident Evil 2 Remake will feature unused concept arts and characters from Resident Evil 1.5.

Upcoming remake of survival horror game Resident Evil 2 from Capcom has created a lot of buzz after unloading a brand-new announcement trailer at E3 2018 press conference along with a bunch of still from the project. From what we can tell, this is a whole new game built on the base of the original RE2 and many of the horror elements are redefined. While they are at it, the developers decided to use deleted concept arts and character designs from an early version of the game.

Before it became a horror classic, an early version of the game titled, Resident Evil 1.5 has been worked on to near completion but later got cancelled. The initial plans had the players going back to the destroyed Spencer Mansion and engage in fight with plant-like enemies, a possible boss character blended with Albert Wesker until they came up with the plan of spreading the horror to the outskirts of Raccoon City. Developer team had completed almost 60 percent of this version before it was scrapped.

RE 1.5 at first starred rooky cop Leon Kennedy taking charge but instead of Chris Redfield's street savvy sister Claire Redfield, there was a character named Elza Walker, who was also a college student like Claire. Leon and Elza would have started their journey from being trapped inside Raccoon City police station, whereas the place was for the protagonists to gather information about the outbreak in the original release. Just because the producers thought it was dull, it got reworked.

Despite having some close resemblance to the title, RE2 has some noticeable differences like several enemies including a Human Spider, some weapons like assault rifles and grenades, as well as a totally different design for the RPD building. Elements from Resident Evil 1.5 eventually become resources for modders, who keep recreating the game over the years. By the looks of it, Resident Evil 2 remake will include some of the unused concept like a coat for Ada Wong and a red jacket for Claire Redfield.

However, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition will reportedly feature a skin of Elza Walker for Claire and that make sense as they both shares a lot of similarities and traits. It will also allow players to switch between the soundtrack of RE2 Remake and the original game to bring back the retro experience. It was a wise decision back then to redo the whole project as it became an old-school classic but it sure would be nice of them to drop some easter eggs from those days in the remake game.

One of Capcom’s renowned titles Resident Evil 2 is remade in a newly fleshed out, gory image that looks really incredible.

After releasing the first E3 trailer for one of their most anticipating project Resident Evil 2 Remake only two days earlier on E3 2018 press conference, developer/publisher Capcom decides to be generous enough and offer a glimpse at their re-engineered gameplay system for the game. So, they played a live demo of RE2 during PlayStation Live at E3 while discussing what are the changes they did and how it going to redefine the genre of survival horror with this classic title.

The live demo looks pretty incredible, displaying footage from beginning hour at Raccoon City after the outbreak sets all hell loose.

At the showcase, RE2 remake demo opens up with rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy joining for duty and goes inside Raccoon City Police Department looking for clues. While trying to keep the vibe of the original game intact, they tried to get rid of the fixed camera angles and made the zombie killing experience more enjoyable. Newly added third-person viewpoint works a lot like Resident Evil 4. However, maintaining the roots, this game will focus less on shooter aspect akin to later entries to the series.

Even though it is called a remake, the entire game is being rebuilt over the base content of the original but developers are not doing a direct clone. Promises of including new elements of gameplay is what we already know about with building barricades to fend off an incoming horde trying to get you. Restrooms are one of the new additions that RE2 never had before. Things that did not change are the use of knife and scarcity of ammunition to keep players on their toes.

The remake revisits all those locations players are familiar with and plants a few surprises for new and old RE fans. Most importantly, it is a great escape from the fixed camera angles that used to annoy everyone and imply the advance graphical superiority of today's technology. A new over-the-shoulder camera mode will be included, which will surely aid the players in skimpy areas.

The original 1998 version was one of Capcom’s best-selling games of all time and it is only fitting that it got a visual upgrade along with some gameplay changes. However, make no mistake of thinking it as a simple remake project that is about re-creating RE2 as it was. In fact, the revolutionary RE Engine which brought us the terrifying experience of Resident Evil 7. Those details on decaying skins of rotten zombies look even lifelike and that just increases the scare factor of the game.

The distinct stories of rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield looking for her brother connects here and is retold. When Raccoon City drowned into anarchy and madness due to a sudden epidemic, Leon arrived to report for duty on his first day on job while bio organic weapons (B.O.W.s) were running rampant. The same day, Claire came seeking his brother Chris Redfield at Raccoon City Police Department but he left the city by then and almost everyone she found was dead.

Both characters will cross paths and are playable in their own separate stories that offers unique perspective at what is going on. Leon learns about the undead menace when he witnesses an officer killed by one of them. Claire seems to have came across little Sherry Birkin and her mother Annette had her fair share of footage. Although we got a momentary glimpse of what seems like a transformed William Birkin or maybe a Tyrant was shown but we missed Ada Wong this time.

The listing was soon removed by Sony from all of their PSN stores. Capcom decided to come clear about all confusion and announced the game is releasing on October 2, 2018 worldwide for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

This is why a mainline entry of the franchise has players this much excited and it looks just as promising as it sounds. Launched in 2010, Mega Man 10 was able to garner critical acclaim and looks like the upcoming release is going to repeat the same history this year.

Mega Man 11 Release Date Leaked

During the 30-year anniversary of Capcom's beloved Blue Bomber Mega Man, the company announced the return of their hero with Mega Man 11 last year. The game was about to release later some time in 2018 on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, it seems that before the developer/publisher could make an official announcement on a release date or show us some trailer at E3, a screenshot from PS4 system has leaked the date for all.

Apparently, ahead of all declarations, Mega Man 11 was already being listed in PlayStation Store and it was posted on Twitter with a snapshot. Then Twitter user @Wario64 shared that Tweet with full description of the game as well. Obviously, Sony had to interfere and remove the listing from their server for now but it was too late as the cat is already out of the bag.

According to the leaked screenshot, worldwide release date of Mega Man 11 was set for October 3, 2018. Only a month ago, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 featuring all eight games from Mega Man X series was announced in celebration of their 30 years' anniversary. So, it was really exciting for us to know when we can expect the game to come out, because it's been so long since the last title from the series was dropped and we seriously cannot wait any longer at this point.

Mega Man is arguably one of Capcom's most popular and longest running series as well as the hero, who also goes by the name Rock Man in Japan. After making his debut on Famicom and NES system in 1987, the franchise has rolled over to many other platforms and spawning many sequels. An interesting clue from the description image was the mention of a “Double Gear system”, meaning they are probably planning to tweak some new gameplay mechanics as well.

For now, we can rely on @Wario64's Tweet as it was a direct screenshot from PSN store and not some hidden clue. Besides, he occasionally does reveal great news on video games and related media. Last time we checked, he even posted an animated GIF version of leaked teaser for RAGE 2 weeks ago. All we need now is a confirmation from Capcom soon to hold onto that date.

Resident Evil 7 Cloud Version for Switch also offers downloadable contents Banned Footage Volume 1, 2, End of Zoe and Not a Hero as well. Originally released back in January 2017, RE7 is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation VR and Xbox One. The one we are talking about doesn't look like to have a translation of English language in it, which means, this version is not meant for Switch players from North America. So, we have to wait until they announce that version or just include option for English language.

Milla Jovovich To Star in Monster Hunter Movie

Director of the Resident Evil movies, Paul W.S. Anderson is working once again with Milla Jovovich in Monster Hunter movie.

Although video game movies have a disastrous track record of being unable to please the critics or even successful at box-office, Hollywood will keep making them. What we have coming up next is not something we were expecting though but the notion is still welcomed. Reportedly, Constantin Film has just signed director Paul W.S. Anderson (Alien vs. Predator, Death Race) for a Monster Hunter movie, which will also star his wife and actress Milla Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Ultraviolet).

Known mostly for her role as Alice in Capcom’s Resident Evil movie series, Milla Jovovich will team up with Paul once again. After her successful stint on that series, that has grossed $1.2 dollars already, Capcom and Constantin Film has set for a budget of $60 million for this upcoming project. Jovovich appeared in all six films of RE franchise and Anderson directed four of them except Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction. Given their past records, that budget is not a risky venture.

Production of the film will begin on September and producer Jeremy Bolt also returns to team up with Anderson and Jovovich. Their last collaboration on Resident Evil: the Final Chapter has earned $312 million worldwide and while they are working on a newly rebooted Resident Evil series, they are also looking for possibility of a brand-new TV series as well. Apparently, the director has already written a screenplay draft for Monster Hunter movie.

According to Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin Film, the principal photography will mostly take place in Cape Town, South Africa because of the comfort of same time zone and overnight flights for entire production unit. Though Anderson directed his previous action horror film franchise to be a huge money maker, he failed to garner any critical praise. However, when your films are earning big-bucks, do you really need to worry about critics? We thought not. So did Capcom and Constantin Film.

The latest installment of action role-playing game series was Monster Hunter: World which was released in January, 2018 for PCPlaystation 4 and Xbox One, which pretty quickly became one of the most successful titles from Capcom by selling over 7.9 million copies within March. If Paul W.S. Anderson can strike his magic once again for this video game movie, we probably are in for a few more films and maybe another huge franchise with some truly amazing visuals.
