Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Free Demo on Switch

Fans of Monster Hunter series gets to enjoy a free game demo of MHGU on Nintendo Switch prior to release.

A little while ago, developer/publisher Capcom announced their decision of porting action role-playing game Monster Hunter Generations to Nintendo Switch as Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. The game has already debuted for Japan last year and waiting for a worldwide release on August 28, 2018. Ahead of their scheduled release date on Nintendo next gen handheld console, a free demo will be available at eShop for all the eagerly waiting Switch owners from August 16th.

The title is not just a mere port of the 2015 Nintendo 3DS game Monster Hunter Generations but an expanded version, which is also enhanced with brand-new additional content that fans will appreciate. Apparently, when it was on the 3DS platform, there were 73 monsters rampaging around and now that count has been upped by another 20, making it a total of 93. Also, there are two new Hunting Styles called, Brave and Alchemy you need to learn aside from newly added Hunter Arts.

Back then, when it was originally released in 2016, the game was quite successful despite having popularity within a relatively small fan-base and thus, started to gain extensive recognition. Upon the release of Monster Hunter: World in early 2018, this action-RPG franchise has eventually become a global phenomenon. However, seasoned players of MHW should take time getting into the gameplay of MHGU as there are more hunting styles to master and many monsters to slay.

Many who have came to know about the series playing MHW this year may find MHGU very different but should not worry at all as the game is on Switch. So, you can carry it around and can get started anywhere in your free time. Known giants like Barioth, Congalala and Diablos have joined in Generations with two new additional monsters; Valstrax and Ahtal-Ka. Capcom reveals that the demo will feature all six Hunting Styles to keep you going until it arrives to your consoles soon.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Premium Edition Announced

The Premium Edition of Resident Evil 2 Remake worth $900 feels overpriced for a Bluetooth mechanical keyboard and masking tapes.

Back in 2015, when producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi were announcing about their attempt for Resident Evil 2 Remake, he may not have anticipated that how  much overwhelming the crowd response would be when they would finally reveal the first look at the project at E3 2018 press conference in Los Angeles. We got a trailer, gameplay reveal and even confirmation for a Collector’s Edition already. Recently, developer/publisher Capcom has unveiled a Premium Edition for Japan.

For a whooping 99,800 Yen or around somewhat $900, this Premium Edition for RE2Make happens to be the most pricy piece of merch and fans are baffled by this overpriced surprise. Titled Biohazard RE: 2 Z Version Premium Edition, the package contains a copy of the full game, a 12-inch statue of Leon Kennedy in his RPD uniform, 32-page official art book, CD of original soundtracks, voucher code to download DLC, a renovation design poster of Raccoon Police Station and the iconic item box.

However, these are all the contents you can get in a Collector’s Edition and are roughly worth $225. The question remains, what is the rest of the money are for? Turns out, an official vintage modeled Lexington typewriter that is actually a bluetooth enabled USB keyboard and four ink ribbons rolled up as masking/washi tape are what raises the price. This fully-functional keyboard compatible with Mac and Windows has a stand on it not to put a blank paper but to mount your tablet or smartphone.

Despite trying to make the design of the typewriter as traditional as possible, it doesn't look anything like the one shown in Resident Evil 2 Remake. If you simply order the original model of this modified version, you can acquire it for only $249. Therefore, it takes approximately $475 to get all of the goodies mentioned above. Two in-game items, Samurai Edge – Chris and Jill Model pistols doesn't seem to cost much as well. So, we are still trying to figure out what that extra $425 is for!

Now we are not sure if the pack is Japan-only release or will it ever come to North America and any other region but will find out soon. January 25, 2019, the survivor horror classic is expected to release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One priced only $59.99 for the base game. Capcom is also backing up Resident Evil 2: The Board Game as an official tabletop creation and apparently is very interested in producing more remake titles in future seeing massive positive feedback from die-hard fans.

Players would be wise to aim for his head and try to block or evade his big hits to save up health. A few support-focused teammates wielding weapon types like Sword & Shield, Light Bowgun or Hunting Horn can really come in handy in this particular case. Someone with Health Boost and Wide-Range, similar to skills from Lunastra armor set can also be very useful in your squad. Keep an eye around and watch out from Behemoth making his ultimate move, Ecliptic Meteor to cause an instant faint!

Another renowned giant Rathalos from Monster Hunter: World will invade the Final Fantasy XIV world during this cross-promotional event at a later date, which will be revealed soon. Although yet not released on PC, developer/publisher Capcom has already managed to make a ton of cash with their sixth main installment from Monster Hunter series, which not only became the fastest-selling game on their history but also turn out to be a best-seller as well by only releasing it on PS4 and XBox One.

Previously, MHW entered in similar timed events with Capcom games and other third-party titles like Devil May Cry, Horizon Zero Dawn, Mega Man and Street Fighter. However, crossing over with something as big as Final Fantasy is surely an extravaganza for fans of the franchise. Besides, this collaboration event is long due because producer Ryozo Tsujimoto of MHW and director Naoki Yoshida of FFXIV have envisioned something like this back in 2011 while focusing on their own projects.

Capcom Open to More Resident Evil Remake

According to their recent financial results, Capcom is definitely on board for more Resident Evil Remake.

Although developer/publisher Capcom took almost three years just to reveal the first look for upcoming survivor horror classic Resident Evil 2 Remake at E3 2018 press conference after initially announcing the project in 2015, fans reaction to their effort was mostly positive despite some minor fraction of the fan-base. The venture began with Resident Evil HD Remaster back in 2015 by releasing a high-definition version of the original game and now looks like they are going to remake more titles.

As their first quarter financial results call came out recently, they were discussing their strategy with market in a Q&A session, where they talked about Monster Hunter: World and a few other titles from their mobile game library. They also stated that following favorable reception of RE2 Remake at E3, Capcom is thinking about exploring further with variety of properties they still have in fold, which clearly suggests more Resident Evil games will join the remake march when RE2MAKE succeeds.

"It was received very well at E3, and in order to tie this first success to actual sales we are working out our promotional strategy. Further, regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP."

After RE2 Remake, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is arguably the most fitting title to receive the remake treatment. Partly, because it is the next most deserving game in the series to get reworked and mostly because, doing that will complete a classic trilogy of game being remade. Besides, fans are hugely speculating RE3 to be the next in line of getting revamped when Capcom posted a photo of titular monster Nemesis on their official Twitter account on Friday the 13th of July.

Resident Evil 2 Remake Collector’s Edition Announced

Capcom reveals info on a special collector’s edition for Resident Evil 2 Remake and talks more about development.

Ever since we had our first-look at survival horror classic Resident Evil 2 Remake during E3 2018 press conference, it seems to get a lot of attention from fans and press alike. Well, this happens to be pretty normal for a most-anticipating game remake project that goes completely silent about development progress for three years after initial announcement. Recently, developer and publisher Capcom just revealed the news of a collector's edition for the game at San Diego Comic-Con.

It's been quite some time that everyone is mostly talking about everyone's favorite rookie cop Leon Kennedy and not about the other most important character of Resident Evil 2; Claire Redfield. She came in Raccoon City looking for her brother Chris and her design is also updated with new look that offer more details of her appearance. The developer team discussed a lot about keeping resemblance to her original design and ultimately came up with something that suits the reinvention.

Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi of RE2 Remake talked about details regarding the features included in this version. Leon Kennedy received a younger looking treatment to make that rookie look convincing enough on him. Using 3D scanning, he was modeled after male model Eduard Badaluta almost three years ago. However, only his face was used to portray Leon in-game. A physical version of costume and movements were created with photorealistic graphics of modern day.

However, developers at Capcom have invested their heart and soul for the project and it was all possible because of the overwhelming demand of true fans. Featured characters and their surrounding environment in Raccoon City received a complete visual overhaul using their powerful RE Engine, arriving on January 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Resident Evil 2 Remake's Hardest Part Was Alligator

Producers of Resident Evil 2 Remake reveal that giant Alligator was a real challenge to recreate.

It has been more than a month that the news of survival horror classic Resident Evil 2 Remake was fully revealed at E3 2018 press conference with an astonishing trailer, followed by a reinvented gameplay demo. However, hype about the game is still too high and players are having a tough time waiting till January 25, 2019 when it will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Producers of the game recently gave an interview to Daily Star talking about the toughest part of this project.

RELATED: Resident Evil 2 Remake E3 Trailer

Aside from facing murderous monsters and fighting zombies, limited resource management and puzzle solving were one of the most important parts of it. The first encounter with a Licker on roof or bumping into Mr. X was quite an experience. However, crossing paths with a giant alligator underneath Raccoon City sewers was one jump-scary moment for sure. Game producers Tsuyoshi Kanda and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi have recently stated it as one of the toughest part to recreate.

RELATED: Resident Evil 2 Remake E3 Gameplay Demo

Tsuyoshi Kanda pointed out that 20 years back, they could have gotten away with a lot of things but now they cannot, because of today's motion-captured graphics and photo-real environment. It was so hard to convincingly putting it into the game that they actually considered skipping the part at one point but then continued thinking of possible fan backlash. Otherwise, Rookie cop Leon Kennedy being a man of average size with a knife battling an alligator makes no sense.

Besides, this was one of the fan-favorite moments from the game that players have an emotional attachment to and that nostalgia factor is not easy to give up. So, making things look realistic and making it as convincing was their main goal. Hirabayashi earlier confirmed that Hunk and Tofu are also returning in Resident Evil 2 Remake as well. So, if you have ever heard of any rumor of Alligator, Hunk or Tofu not being a part of the game, you can simply dismiss them now.

Obviously, RE2 wasn't the first title they tried to remake from their popular survival horror franchise and original Resident Evil were the first one to receive reworking treatment in 2002. After years of fan petition, publisher Capcom finally decided to gave fans what they have been wanting for so long. Then upon initial announcement in 2015, RE2 Remake eventually revealed in a new look this year. Despite many expressing disappoint for changing perspective, hopefully it is for the best.
