Halo TV Series Casts Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief

Upcoming Halo TV series on Showtime has cast American Gods starrer Pablo Schreiber to play Master Chief.

Right after announcing upcoming militaristic sci-fi first-person shooter Halo Infinite back at E3 2018 press conference last year, a brand-new TV Series based on long-running Halo video game franchise was confirmed for Showtime.

According to a recent announcement from the TV network, Canadian-American actor Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange Is the New Black) has been cast in its lead role as renowned series protagonist Master Chief John-117.

Schreiber has received nomination for Primetime Emmy for his guest role at comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black in 2015 and then been nominated for Tony Award on the same year for theatrical performance of Awake and Sing!

He stands an impressive 6.5" tall, which is a pretty rare standard for Hollywood and yet he will be five inches shorter than actual height of John-117 without his Spartan armor but Schreiber still has a physical frame to do proper justice to the character.

Also joining him in cast is Yerin Ha in a new and original character of 16 year-old Quan Ah, solely created for the show. She will cross paths with Master Chief at a time of 26th-century epic conflict of humans and alien race of Covenant.

In association with developer studio 343 Industries and Amblin Television of filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Showtime is looking forward to produce a 9-episode first Season of Halo TV Series with executive producer Kyle Killen (Awake, Lone Star) on board.

Halo TV Series Comes to Showtime

Iconic sci-fi first-person shooter video game franchise of Halo from Xbox is finally coming to Showtime for a television debut.

Only a while ago, Halo Infinite; the newest installment from military sci-fi first-person shooter game series Halo was announced for PC and Xbox One at E3 2018 press conference. It's about time that one of the long-running video game franchises from 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios finally get a live-action television series and guess what? It is really happening this time. It will be aired on Showtime with 10-episode season with writer/producer Kyle Killen (Awake, Lone Star) serving as executive producer.

Back in 2013, there was actually a rumor of a Halo TV series that was supposed to be helmed by Steven Spielberg. Since then, all we've been hearing was bunch of reports but no official statement. However, this official announcement from Showtime president and CEO David Nevins gives a real confirmation of the project actually moving ahead for production. Nevins believes, there haven't been enough great science fiction stories in television show history and Halo is going to change that.

RELATED: Halo Infinite Announced

According to reports, the story will take place when the fictional universe of 26th-century debuted in 2001, which means, it will probably take inspiration from Halo: Combat Evolved. An interstellar war against humanity that is sparked by an alien race of the Covenant is the base of the story. David Nevins also states that, this version of the story will not just please the fans but newcomers too will be drawn towards it. Which actor will step into the valiant shoes of protagonist Master Chief is yet not declared.

Although it literally took ages for such a fan-favorite series to have a live-action adaption other than comic-books, hardcore fans would deeply appreciate the effort and will reinvigorate the hype for entire franchise. There is lot of scopes to explore this unique universe built and many creative ways to tie-in with games continuity. If done right by finding a right balance of characters and story, Halo can effectively lift the video game curse of their adaption not being acclaimed enough.

Halo Infinite Announced

Halo Infinite trailer at E3 2018 is bringing back Master Chief once again to finish the fight to save humanity.

Not every day you get to show your games at a stage like E3 2018 and so, Microsoft took this opportunity very seriously on Xbox E3 2018 presentation. What better way to do that than revealing a new entry from one of your biggest franchises and what bigger series there is other than Halo? With Halo Infinite, our beloved hero Master Chief returns in action after a while. Developer 343 Industries have brought back the series once again and the next chapter begins from here.

The trailer is a short cinematic clip showing a green landscape in what seems to be an aftermath of some great war. A new ecosystem of beasts and nature completely takes over the world left behind by men as we don't see any of them. While a squad of three soldiers approaches with one of their wounded companion, we see Master Chief's iconic helm in his hand in frame. Then he plugged Cortana into the back of his helmet and then it slowly cuts into the title card.

Even though they previously hinted of making a comeback with Halo series, both developer 343 Industries and Microsoft Studios has been quite about when they are going to make a show on it for some time. Thankfully, it is finally returning to its former glory and will establish that once it finally releases. Aside from slightly changing their art style and color patterns, the game has moved to a newer Slipspace Engine this time and players get to spend more time with their favorite green Spartan.

In a time when Microsoft is desperately in need for some exclusive games for their consoles to survive the market competition as they are being manhandled by Sony and ridiculed by fans, an exclusive Xbox line-up like Halo can probably turn the table for them. So, the upcoming title is definitely a breath of fresh air in this time of crisis for the publisher. The story of the game centers around Master Chief but this teaser was to actually demonstrate their powerful new game engine.
