Halo: The Master Chief Collection Becomes Best-Selling Steam Game

Right after launching on PC, Halo: The Master Chief Collection becomes top-selling game on Steam.

After recent change in business strategy of introducing first-party games on PC and Xbox consoles in recent years, Microsoft Studios have announced to bring Halo: The Master Chief Collection to PC via Steam earlier this year.

Five years after original release on Xbox One, players can finally enjoy Halo: MCC on a platform other than console and this definitive series compilation becomes top-selling game on Steam following recent inclusion of Halo: Reach.

Master Chief Collection on PC comes with key-features like better optimization settings, 67 campaign missions, over 120 multiplayer maps, access to Halo Insiders program and more, which are clear improvements over Xbox release.

MCC bundle debuts with Reach and will continue to launch five more remaining titles by ending with Halo 4 in 2020. Those games will be adding more single-player and multiplayer content, which would possibly draw more players then.

Before debuting on popular PC gaming platform Steam, players had to purchase through and play the game using Windows Live service. However, things have changed for better and Microsoft is even offering Xbox Game Pass for PC.

Launching in parts, you can purchase MCC at Steam for $39.99 only or get it on Game Pass for PC at just $5.99. Currently, they are offering a deal of only $1 for three months but fans are mostly heading over to Valve outlet.

Right now, Master Chief Collection is outperforming other global top-selling and most played games like Monster Hunter: World and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, both of which are available at 50% discount on the platform.

Although Microsoft is more interested in garnering more members for Game Pass service, Xbox head Phil Spencer considers people buying the game on Steam or their subscription service a major win despite their main focus on the latter.

Military sci-fi first-person shooter series Halo undoubtedly is one of the most iconic video game franchises from Microsoft Studios but MCC topping PC sales chart was largely unexpected now that it is gotten old and was buggy at launch.

It has likely happened because Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been a console-exclusive that has debuted on largest community platform for PC players and Microsoft has fixed a lot of its issues for port over past few years.

Halo 3 Player Beats Game on Legendary Difficulty, Using Guitar Hero Controller

YouTuber ATwearkingYoshi took challenge to beat Halo 3 in "Legendary" difficulty playing with Guitar Hero controller.

Hardcore gamers often try out new and old popular games to complete on highest set difficulty level or for a simple speedrun, to either break records previously set by other players or just to beat their personal best play.

In one such valiant effort, YouTuber ATwearkingYoshi has finally managed to beat full game Halo 3 on hardest difficulty setting Legendary, after dying too many times for months and using nothing but a Guitar Hero controller.

Contrary of traditional one, Guitar Hero and other controllers shaped in rock band related instruments are a challenge for players who are looking for beating a game in some of most non-conventional and ridiculous ways.

This particular method was used in past by players to complete hardcore games like Dark Souls and Dark Souls III. ATwerkingYoshi has beaten DS3 with guitar controller before and beat its final boss using just a dance pad.

Earlier this year, he even took his turn on latest From Software game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice with Donkey Kong bongo controller, an action-adventure title that is known for being notoriously difficult for masses to complete.

It took him month-long attempts and dying 252 times in his entire gameplay walkthrough of Halo 3 campaign, which is quite understandable since he had to aiming, moving and almost all stuff with an unconventional control layout.

In anticipation of upcoming release of first-person shooter title Halo Infinite next year and Halo: The Master Chief Collection coming to PC platform, many players are taking a trip back to memory lane and replaying older titles lately.

Hopefully, when all individual titles of MCC eventually comes to PC, there will be other takes by ATwerkingYoshi on its varied lineup of games and he will be able to come up with some insane new customization for his next Legendary run.

Such big departures from a very ambitious project over a short period time would likely to have people assume that the project is currently having a leadership crisis and though it is a valid concern, an employee of 343 suggests otherwise.

After Olson's departure became public knowledge, Halo community manager John Junyszek came forward clarifying what both Tim & Mary's roles were within company, which seems to create a lot of confusion lately.

Junyszek wrote his point in a Reddit comment from his account where he talked about what Mary Olson and Tim Longo was doing at 343. Longo was hired to make creative decisions about game direction including campaign, multiplayer and more.

Mary was an executive producer, who then became lead producer to help development team deliver the game before holiday 2020 release date and her primary objective was to focus on achieve completion of its core campaign.

Olson joins developer/publisher Midwinter Entertainment to work on upcoming multiplayer survival shooter Scavengers. Nevertheless, it won't cause any creative dilemma as she was not in charge of major creative decisions at 343 Industries.

Halo Infinite was announced as a launch title for next-gen Microsoft console Project Scarlett back in E3 2019, which will see long-awaited return of a renowned first-person shooter game series next year and a cross-platform release.

Microsoft has released an official statement on this recent change and what it means for Infinite development team.

Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development. We have recently had two changes to the Halo Infinite development team. Our Executive Producer, Mary Olson will now take charge of the Campaign team on Halo Infinite as the Lead Producer, utilizing her many years of experience at 343 to help craft a great campaign for fans. Additionally, Tim Longo has recently departed our team and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe. We wish Tim nothing but the best in his future endeavors.

Regardless of Microsoft's assures, fans have reasons to be concerned seeing a huge leadership shakeup at this point of development, especially because success of Halo Infinite will somewhat determine future of Xbox brand in gaming industry.

Halo TV Series Casts Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief

Upcoming Halo TV series on Showtime has cast American Gods starrer Pablo Schreiber to play Master Chief.

Right after announcing upcoming militaristic sci-fi first-person shooter Halo Infinite back at E3 2018 press conference last year, a brand-new TV Series based on long-running Halo video game franchise was confirmed for Showtime.

According to a recent announcement from the TV network, Canadian-American actor Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange Is the New Black) has been cast in its lead role as renowned series protagonist Master Chief John-117.

Schreiber has received nomination for Primetime Emmy for his guest role at comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black in 2015 and then been nominated for Tony Award on the same year for theatrical performance of Awake and Sing!

He stands an impressive 6.5" tall, which is a pretty rare standard for Hollywood and yet he will be five inches shorter than actual height of John-117 without his Spartan armor but Schreiber still has a physical frame to do proper justice to the character.

Also joining him in cast is Yerin Ha in a new and original character of 16 year-old Quan Ah, solely created for the show. She will cross paths with Master Chief at a time of 26th-century epic conflict of humans and alien race of Covenant.

In association with developer studio 343 Industries and Amblin Television of filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Showtime is looking forward to produce a 9-episode first Season of Halo TV Series with executive producer Kyle Killen (Awake, Lone Star) on board.
