Grand Theft Auto V Court Ban on Cheat Mods

Court issues order for Take-Two Interactive to ban any program used for illegal mods and cheating on GTA.

It has been five years since controversial action-adventure video game Grand Theft Auto V has been released and by now developer/publisher Rockstar Games have seen a lot success including the game doing extremely well in terms of sales and had their fair share of debates. The latest piece of quarrel is regarding a court order to shut down illegal mods that allow players to perform cheats in GTA V and Grand Theft Auto Online when playing the PC version of the game.

A Georgia resident named David Zipperer has been selling two mods by the name Absolute and Menyoo for some time now. Back in March, Rockstar Games has sued Zipperer with an allegation of infringing their copyright properties and violating terms of use of the game. The preliminary injunction won by parent company of the developers of GTA V, Take-Two Interactive bans him from selling those two mods and forbids creating any more unoriginal works for the title.

RELATED: Grand Theft Auto 5 is Most Profitable Entertainment Product Ever

What Absolute and Menyoo does is allowing players to alter a several number of in-game constraints, which makes the devs unhappy and uncomfortable. For single-player version of the game on PC, these mods are still available on various other hosting. However, it costs money when you try to use them GTA Online, multiplayer mode of GTA V. The mods will allow anyone to generate nearly unlimited amount of in-game currency that Rockstar Games sells to people for real money.

It hurts the developers because; this move has taken a significant toll on the quarterly revenue of Take-Two following the launch of GTA Online in 2013. They complained that mods created by Zipperer had cost them a minimum of $500,000 while damaged their reputation to legit players who couldn't keep up with cheaters and eventually quit playing after a time. Reportedly, upon receiving threat of taking legal action from Take-Two, makers of those mods had shut down their sites.

Aliens: Colonial Marines' Lame AI Caused by Typo

It took five years for a modder to uncover a single typo in game's code after Aliens: Colonial Marines is released.

Despite belonging to the Alien science fiction movie series, first-person shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines from Gearbox Software and Sega was terribly bashed over by fans and critics alike. To bring back fans of this popular sci-fi horror franchise; the game was initially planned as a canonic sequel to James Cameron’s movie Aliens. Not only had it suffered years of delay before releasing on 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but was heavily criticized for low graphics quality and weak enemy intelligence.

Dedicated modders have been trying to improve the AI of the Xenomorph enemies lurking around so they would behave more agile and intelligent rather than fooling around like a drunken old person waiting to be blasted by Pulse Rifles all the time. A modder from ModDB known as jamesdickinson963 has discovered lately that a single letter "a" added in the word "tether" game's .INI files, which actually messed up code and caused them behave weirdly. Here’s the code:

ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether ->  PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather

RELATED: Halo TV series Comes to Showtime

Instead of coming at player on sight in a blood-thirsty aggression, the Xenomorphs mostly wander around casually like they have other things to do like coming in and out of vents, falling off wall, getting stuck on ceiling or running clueless than tearing you up in to pieces. Apparently, removing the typographical error from the code simply doesn't correct enemy AI behavior but it improves the gameplay by making them far more engaging in a fight than they used to.

RELATED: Milla Jovovich To Star in Monster Hunter Movie

Just after fixing the typo in question, they start behaving more aggressively and play smart. Where the Alien from the first scenario was easily confused and went back when player started running away from it, the bug stayed focused on its prey on second encounter after correcting the error. Their sluggish and erratic movements are no longer there to make them look like bad jokes from a horror movie anymore.

RELATED: Predator Comes to Ghost Recon Wildlands

Gearbox Software simply failed to deliver what they promised in demos and it was nothing more than a mediocre shooter that portrayed the deadliest killing machines of the galaxy as some panzy bugs lurking around. Now, five years after the disastrous release of the title a modder has recently discovered that a single typo in code was one of the primary reasons for the terrible gameplay experience it delivered and upon fixing, it can have some serious impact on enemy AI.

RELATED: FoxNext to Develop New Alien Video Game

Developers should have noticed this error while testing if they weren't in such hurry to somehow release the game and be done with it, causing Aliens: Colonial Marines being a chaos in spaceship Sulaco. Hadn't it for their sloppy development, the game could've been a lot better than it turned out. Meanwhile, FoxNext is developing an Alien shooter game for PC and consoles. Publisher Dark Horse Comics is also adapting unused Alien 3 screenplay by William Gibson into a five-part comic-book series.

Player Beats Fallout: New Vegas on Max Difficulty, Non-Lethal Run

Hop in for a ride to Fallout: New Vegas as a fan beats the game in the most hardcore way you can think of!

A spin-off title of post-apocalyptic Fallout series, Fallout: New Vegas has a huge following even today who was anticipating for a sequel this year when Bethesda Softworks was actually teasing for their upcoming action role-playing game Fallout 76. Almost eight years have passed after it was launched and players are not yet tired making complete gameplay run of the game. However, we are here to talk about a fan that beats the game in the most unimaginable way possible.

YouTuber Rheteam took a challenge for himself of beating the game on highest difficulty for non-lethal run, where he won't kill anyone or not take some serious damage to himself. He enabled permadeath and decided to do it without firing a gun but with a pair of boxing gloves to knock their socks off if encountered. Also, he did not take any companion for this personal quest, which took him to a series of episodic videos length over an hour each, finally completed.

Below is the final episode from Rheteam, where he finishes up all the sidequests on his self-imposed standard.

RELATED: Fallout 76 Have No Cross-Play, Because of Sony

Switching to boxing gloves instead of weapons was only to save his skin in cases of hostile confrontations. His S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system attributes were cleverly distributed as 10 Strength, 1 Perception, 10 Endurance, 1 Charisma, 10 Intelligence, 7 Agility and 1 Luck. Putting more emphasis on his agility, endurance and strength was carefully planned to boost his gloves during combat. In 13:24 of the clip, he thought he accidentally killed a Fiend while taking his weapon off.

RELATED: Fallout 76 To Stop PvP Bullying

One other interesting aspect of this gameplay is that no NPCs were killed by him either. Well, he didn't do it himself but rather lured them into an area where his friendly NPCs will take care of the situation. One of the trickiest sidequests were Three-Card Bounty outside Camp McCarran, where three characters; Cook-Cook, Violet and Driver Nephi had to die in order to complete it and the player simply positioned them precisely against each other so that they all were victims of friendly fire.

RELATED: Fallout 76 C.A.M.P. Gameplay

Rheteam presumably used a mod to enable both hardcore mode and permadeath before beginning this journey. Since Fallout: New Vegas was designed to be flexible enough to make it possible for anyone interested to avoid killing, Rheteam just amped up the bar up a node to test his skills. Feast your eyes with a masterful gameplay run of the game if you are a fan of the game try to come up with some more difficult way to make another amazing wasteland trek.

Bethesda Director Responds to Skyrim Port Jokes

Bethesda director Todd Howard says that, they only make Skyrim ports because fans are still buying it.

It's been seven years that action role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda Softworks has been released and players are still so passionate about the game even today. Keeping that in mind, publisher Bethesda is also releasing the game on various ports every now and then. There are running jokes among fans on them doing ports for Skyrim and game director Todd Howard simply suggested them to stop playing the game if they want all these ports.

Originally, TESV was released back in November 11, 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Then in 2013, a Legendary Edition containing all DLC and a remastered Special Edition in 2016 was launched. The latest in the line of ports for Skyrim has made available for Amazon Echo after it was ported to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, VR and Xbox One. When they dropped a commercial starring Keegan-Michael Keys playing it on the device, many have thought of it as a spoof.

Turns out, this parody trailer released at E3 2018 press conference from Bethesda titled "Very Special Edition" is very real and can be played on Amazon’s Alexa.

Recently, company director Todd Howard is awarded as "Industry Legend" at the annual Gamelab event in Barcelona for his contribution on Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series. Afterwards in an interview with Geoff Keighley, he states their reason for regularly making ports for Skyrim, which is simply because fans keep buying the game over and over. He made a valid point with that comment because TESV remains to be the most popular among the franchise till date.

"Even now, the amount of people who play Skyrim seven years later; millions of people every month are playing that game. That's why we keep releasing it. If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it."

RELATED: Elder Scrolls Online: Dragon Bones DLC Out Now

Skyrim offer players to assume the role of Dragonborn, a mortal man with the soul and power of a dragon, who is destined to save humanity from a fabled black dragon named Alduin. A massive open world environment is up for exploring during the quest and may compelling RPG elements increases replay value for the title. Although The Elder Scrolls VI has been teased during E3, it is still in early development phase and ain't coming anytime soon.

RELATED: Steam Reveals Best-Selling & Most Played Games of 2018

Reportedly, TESV: Skyrim is listed as one of the games on Steam with most concurrent number of players alongside titles like Civilization V, Payday 2 and Rocket League, amassing more than 50,000 players simultaneously. Todd wants the worlds of Bethesda to be sustainable as long as he is here and since the game still sells, releasing newer ports isn't that bad of an idea. Maybe gamers are simply worried thinking that re-releasing an old game probably burns out creative energy of developers.
