Marvel's Avengers to Add Spider-Man as PlayStation-Exclusive Hero

A friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in 2021, exclusively on PlayStation.

An accidental leaked listing from online retailer site Base.com has revealed earlier that your friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man will be joining upcoming superhero action-adventure game Marvel's Avengers, exclusively for PlayStation.

As soon as rumor mill started rolling, that product description was removed and associate art director Jeff Adams of developer Crystal Dynamics officially confirmed that Spidey is coming to Marvel's Avengers at some point next year.

A launch, Spider-Man will only become available to players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as an exclusive playable hero. Official sources have yet to announce if everyone's favorite web-slinger will be permanent or timed exclusive.

Given how Marvel's Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales are exclusive to PlayStation consoles, there is little possibility of Spider-Man ever arriving for Google Stadia, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions of the game.

According to recent blog post, Spider-Man will join Earth's Mightiest Heroes in early 2021 and will make his debut via an in-game event. There will be unique challenges for him to take on and show off his incredible acrobatic abilities.

Just like other heroes within its roster, Marvel's Avengers to feature several suits and gameplay style to forge your own version of Spidey. Crystal Dynamics heavily focuses on overall fluidity of transition between combat and his movement.

Though inspiration for Marvel's Avengers version of Spider-Man came from works of artists John Romita, Sr. and Steve Ditko, fans can expect to choose from a wide variety of choices alongside his early iteration with webbed underarms.

Marvel's Avengers will begin its pre-order beta on August 7, 2020 and you can pre-load a day earlier. On second War Table stream, Crystal Dynamics reveals to add Hawkeye to base game as a post-launch hero for no additional cost at all.

Marvel's Avengers Will Reportedly Add Spider-Man as PS4 Exclusive

An online leaked listing suggests Spider-Man will join Marvel's Avengers as a PS4-exclusive character.

In recent War Table livestream, upcoming superhero action-adventure game Marvel's Avengers have revealed dates for beta and post-launch hero ahead of September 4, 2020 global release on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

For some time, there has been speculation of friendly-neighborhood web-slinger joining Earth's Mightiest Heroes at some point. One recent unofficial Reddit leak does claim that Spider-Man will show up swinging, for PlayStation consoles.

According to a now-deleted listing from online retailer site Base.com, PS4 version of Marvel's Avengers will let you play as Spidey himself. Before an eventual removal, product description clearly had stated "exclusively on PS4" to no surprise.

Whether or not their marketing copy was provided by official sources is yet to be confirmed. Base.com also has a listed release date of May 15, 2020, which is inaccurate at this point and has been rescheduled to Q4 2020 long ago.

Reddit user FNaF_walrusman noticed a leaked listing that hints at Spider-Man to be a playable character.

In a prior announcement, publisher Square Enix revealed to have made a deal with PlayStation and promised to deliver surprise for PS4 players. Parent company Sony currently holds movie rights for Spider-Man and made a successful game.

PS4-exclusive title Marvel's Spider-Man has sold over 13 million copies worldwide to become best-selling super hero video game of all time. A spin-off sequel, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to launch later this year for PlayStation 5.

By end of this year, developer Crystal Dynamics plans to release next-gen console version of Marvel's Avengers, in association with Eidos Montréal and Square Enix for all owner of the game on current-gen without any additional charge.

A major Marvel character like Amazing Spider-Man being a PlayStation-exclusive hero for Marvel's Avengers will not really motivate players on PC or Xbox platforms much to pick a copy at launch even if these rumors are even true after all.

Anthem Getting Loot Changes in 2.0 Update

BioWare will be introducing major loot changes for new version of Anthem in upcoming update 2.0.

Ever since launch, online multiplayer action role-playing game Anthem failed to live up to fan-expectation for its somewhat grindy campaign, lack of enemy variety, lackluster endgame activity and a shallow loot distribution system.

To salvage their precious work and bring players back to the game, developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts started working on a major overhaul via 2.0 update, which would attempt to create a rewarding loot experience for all.

RELATED: EA Hints at Acquiring Warner Bros. Interactive

Due to lack of content, player community abandoned Anthem within months and Bioware had to cancel their planned roadmap for a full revamp and ever since, there have been only a few minor updates of what they are working on.

In a latest official blog, lead developer and studio director Christian Dailey talks about essential loot changes for Anthem 2.0, including failing short at providing a good player experience and trying to reflect on their mistakes in future.

RELATED: Samurai Shodown NeoGeo Collection Out On PS4 and Switch

Anthem had a huge issue with guns where newly acquired weapons don't feel that special from what players already have. Whether it is your starter gun or some legendary pickup from endgame, amount of damage doesn't seem to vary at all.

Not only there will be plenty of loot in Anthem 2.0 but you will have good reasons to equip guns achieved from campaign. If you come across a particular gun that you really like, you can level that item up or modify it for future usage.

RELATED: Destiny 2: Beyond Light Stasis Gameplay Trailer

All the weaponry of your arsenal is getting some visual changes to make firearms from different factions more distinguishable. Whenever you shoot a specific enemy that carries loot, they will drop useful items that you can equip right away.

Although loot system upgrade may not be something revolutionary for ARPG players, Anthem is desperately in need for it. Even though many believed the game to be a lost cause, there is a chance for BioWare to bring it back to life after all.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey Only Had Kassandra as Protagonist

Ubisoft originally planned for Kassandra to be the only female protagonist in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Despite belonging to stealth-adventure based Assassin's Creed series delved into action role-playing genre with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, where players would have a choice between two playable characters; Alexios and Kassandra.

According to a recent article by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schrier, developer/publisher Ubisoft didn't allow any female characters in lead role of Assassin's Creed games for a while due to an internal mandate that says "Women Don't Sell".

In past few months, French video game company Ubisoft has been slammed by widespread workplace abuse. While an investigation is currently ongoing, many employees within Ubisoft have reported of an abusive workplace.

Several team members believe such atmosphere has even affected production of Assassin's Creed games in past. Ubisoft had a long-held belief that female protagonists in general doesn't help sell games like traditional male ones.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Gameplay Overview

Back in 2014, trouble begin with Assassin's Creed Unity when a creative director of Ubisoft was against inclusion of any female characters because "it was really a lot of extra production work" to add animations and clothing for women.

Their next game, Assassin's Creed Syndicate had a script that allowed siblings Jacob and Evie Fyre to have equal screen time. However, changes were made to favor male protagonist Jacob who became the main character of Syndicate.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Valhalla First Gameplay Trailer

Similarly in Assassin's Creed Origins, original plan for Bayek was to be killed off at an early point to focus on his wife Aya. That plan was eventually flipped and Bayek lived to serve as lead playable character for rest of the adventure.

In all instances mentioned above, Ubisoft chief creative officer Serge Hascoët or marketing team has intervened before final release to force developers change story direction to reduce role of female characters or protagonists.

RELATED: Assassin's Creed Unity Positively Review-Bombed on Steam

When working on Assassin's Creed Odyssey, its creative team wanted Kassandra to be only playable character in lead role. Odyssey ended up adding her male sibling Alexios, to allow players a choice to pick between these two.

Ubisoft employees claimed that they often had to distract Hascoët with major compromises to add features that he didn't like to sway his influence from making changes for worse as he was not a fan of cut-scenes or linear storytelling.

Serge Hascoët is arguably responsible for cancellation of more than a few promising projects with such meddling. However, his authority within company starts lessening lately after a series of lackluster releases over past few years.

Even though Alexios was forced into Assassin's Creed Odyssey, he actually fits nicely in ancient Greece setting. Ubisoft will also let you choose a male and female version of lead character, Eivor in upcoming Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Amassing 5 million players within only six months from back in January 2020, Sea of Thieves has officially crossed 15 million players since two years of its original launch back in 2018 following its recent debut on PC gaming platform Steam.

Sea of Thieves has been showing up on most played and top-selling games list on Steam every now and then. Partial credit for this amazing success goes to player community of Steam for purchasing more than 1 million copies so far.

During its launch week, Sea of Thieves faced major server issues and was heavily criticized for being repetitive. Rare Studio dev team frequently rolled out content and limited time events to keep everyone busy and turned things around.

New players on Sea of Thieves can begin their high-seas adventure with narrative-driven tutorial Maiden Voyage. Or try out your luck at Adventure and Arena modes while getting on broad each month for free content updates.

Much like No Man's Sky universe, these freighters are all procedurally generated with unique interiors and stories to explore. Travelers may end up discovering or taking out pieces that can later be used as upgrades for their capital ship.

Desolation update has made some changes to enemies and weapon balances for an engaging, fast-paced combat. Such gameplay effects and tweaks are not limited to these abandoned freighters but are available across full game as well.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light DLC Expansion Delayed

Previous release date for Destiny 2: Beyond Light expansion has been delayed because of COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in June, developer/publisher Bungie revealed plans to add a new trilogy of expansions in Year 4 Season 2 content for free-to-play online multiplayer shooter Destiny 2 to start a new era and first one among them was Beyond Light.

Bungie originally planned to launch Beyond Light DLC expansion on September 22 and reveal more features very soon, which is now been delayed to November 10, 2020 due to working restrictions during ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though Bungie is one of the best studios to work remotely under current circumstances, they had to push back next chapter of Destiny 2 by a few more weeks just to meet certain quality standards because of recent challenges.

Beyond Light plans to include new gears, location, missions, raid, weaponry and everything that players expect from its next expansion, which will form the major upcoming D2 story arc alongside its follow-up The Witch Queen and Lightfall.

For a brief time, Destiny 2 is temporarily removing several activities and locations from game while taking away weekly reward cap on raids for rest of the season, allowing players to grind for best exotic loots as long as they are available.

Recent actions of Bungie are disappointing to some fans but are taken for a better future of D2 players in long run. Previous plans for rumored development of Destiny 3 have been scrapped and are replaced with new content update strategy.

Beyond Light is coming at a time when majority of D2 player community were longing for a new update after Shadowkeep that would rejuvenate Destiny 2 once again like The Taken King did for original Destiny and there is only months to go.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light will be first DLC expansion to release on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Progress will be shared within two console generation with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version receiving free upgrade to next-gen.
