Sword and Shield Code Has Some Pokémon Hidden
Game Freak has 35 fan-favorite Pokémon types hidden within game files of Pokémon Sword and Shield.
Fans of Pokémon series of video games were disappointed over developer Game Freak removing a number of favorites from Pokédex for upcoming Pokémon Sword and Shield, which was revealed at Nintendo live presentation at E3 2019.
If that news was enough to grind your gears really hard then wait until you find out that they kept 35 extra Pokémon in reserves that are not accessible through any normal means, according to recent datamining of in-game files.

Shortly ahead of release, people managed to get their hands on copies of Sword and Shield, which they used looking for hidden content and one of them has discovered an additional number of 35 Pokémon buried deep beneath.
What truly amazing about his findings is that there are other types outside of Galar Dex region including a few legendaries concealed within. Although generally unobtainable, these starter classes have their models and stats added.

After this information became public, Twitter user DeathChaos used the hack on Pokémon Sword/Shield with following result.

DeathChaos managed to add Bulbasaur and Squirtle for an encounter at trainer Hop's party in leaked version of Sword/Shield. In a follow-up video, he made a same arrangement with Meltan and Melmetal for public display.
When a complete list of removed Pokémon got leaked online earlier, it caused heavy backlash from fans as too much content have been cut off. People are upset regardless of promises for all fan-favorites to return in future series titles.

In past, Pokémon games used to have some Mythical types hidden for Nintendo to give out to players later during live events. However, they were almost always revealed to public by hackers in early phase of release.
Since there is no Mythical class found inside Sword and Shield data, it is presumably because Game Freak has decided to periodically roll them out in a series of updates and therefore they only included 35 of them initially.

It is also possible that developer team is planning to introduce Pokémon Home as a digital storage space and these hidden ones are being reserved to reveal during its launch or at various timed events at some point in near future.
Some fans are speculating that secret Pokémons may get involved in special Max Raid battles by groups of trainers when they will try to take on transformed Dynamax and Gigantamax types or worse; release them as DLC characters.

On top of excluding National Dex from Sword/Shield, there are accusations of Game Freak reusing character models from most recent Nintendo 3DS games, which was later denied by producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori.
