During mid-December 2021, it was reported by IGN co-founder Peer Schneider that upcoming Nintendo Switch-exclusive sequel to 2017 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may get a late 2022 launch window.

Insider sources have previously teased announcement for several Legend of Zelda projects but developer/publisher Nintendo have now officially delayed untitled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel to a later date in spring 2023.

Nintendo has released a new video announcing a delay and teases a brief gameplay footage of BotW sequel.

In newest video, The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma apologizes to everyone who eagerly waited for BotW 2 release this year. He assures that dev team is currently working on it and therefore, they need you to wait for a while.

Aonuma recaps from previously shown Breath of the Wild sequel gameplay and teases a wide array of in-game elements. Finally, Link is seen to draw out his legendary Master Sword, which looked a bit different and even partially broken.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has debuted back in 2017 as a Nintendo Switch launch title and sold over 27 million copies by 2021. An official sequel was teased at E3 2019 Nintendo Direct event but no release dates were revealed.

Nintendo hinted at a planned 2022 release window for Breath of the Wild sequel at last year's E3 2021 showcase. They also have yet to reveal full name for BotW 2, which was leaked along with a number of gameplay details back in 2020.
