Given its critical and commercial success, a follow-up to 2019 action-adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts was already in works for past few years and may arrive soon.

An early job posting from Respawn Entertainment originally hinted at a possible sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in late 2019. A recent report claims that Star Wars Jedi 2 may launch in 2023 but it won't have "Fallen Order" subtitle.

In latest episode of Giant Bomb's premium show Grubbsnax, VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that Star Wars Jedi sequel will be releasing sometime next year only on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, leaving behind last-gen.

EA and Respawn are seemingly skipping last-gen consoles because Star Wars Jedi 2 is on tracks to release in 2023. Grubb states that focusing on new hardware lets development team to skip any straddle between generations completely.

He also mentioned that "Fallen Order" will not be serving as subtitle for sequel, which is yet to be announced. Star Wars Jedi 2 will probably be revealed during annual Star Wars Celebration, which begins on May 26 and runs until May 29.

Other than Jeff Grubb, another known Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin has previously claimed that Fallen Order subtitle will be replaced. An official reveal will reportedly go live at California- based fan-event Anaheim, coming in May 2022.
