Modern Warfare II Becomes Best-Selling Game of 2022 in US

A latest report by NPD Group has revealed best-selling games of 2022, topped by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Modern Warfare II Becomes Best-Selling Game of 2022 in US

Regardless of plans for releasing no Call of Duty game in 2023, publisher Activision has revealed plans to launch full premium "Call of Duty" release in a report, which could be an expansion for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II of last year.

Other than becoming biggest launch in franchise history, Activision's latest shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II becomes best-selling game of 2022 in U.S., leaving behind other AAA-games like Elden Ring and Madden NFL 23 in sales.

According to latest NPD Group market research report, Modern Warfare II was number one on annual software sales chart for last year, after dominating monthly sales of October, November and December 2022 in entire United States.

MWII successfully toppled From Software's latest Soulsborne adventure Elden Ring, which saw a great opening in February. Madden NFL 23 took third place in chart, followed by God of War: Ragnarök at fourth position since its launch.

Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, FIFA 23, Horizon Forbidden West as well as MLB: The Show 22 also made it to sales chart, with FIFA leading European software sale ahead of Elden Ring and Modern Warfare II.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II digital and physical sales data were not included for most titles across all platforms. Activision previously reported that MWII made $1 billion from sales in just 10 days after launch, breaking series record.
