Set to release later next month, upcoming action-adventure game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts takes place five years after first game with a darker tone than 2013 original.

Other than recently being delayed for six weeks, there isn't much detail to reveal but series fans are wondering what could be next. Star Wars Jedi series director seemingly has a clear vision as he simply wants to make a trilogy of games.

Jedi: Survivor director Stig Asmussen wants to make a trilogy focused on protagonist Cal Kestis' journey. He also hints that a third game to known franchise is possible if Jedi: Survivor performs well like 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Asmussen claims to have been talking about the second game and beyond with Lucasfilm about where everything is going. He always wanted to see it as a trilogy as he wondered how they can take things to new levels beyond first game.

Dev team already had a decent idea of what timeframe Jedi: Survivor would set in, what are the stakes, what tone they wanted for sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, what Cal would be up against or how his crew fits in and ideas beyond these.

Respawn will probably use Unreal Engine 5 to build a third game instead of Unreal Engine 4 and that is a safe guess. It's not going to be easy as they need to warp UE5 to do a lot of proprietary things and have to retool a new UE5 engine.

Fallen Order fans would enjoy exploring many newly added improvements to its sequel when it finally arrives next month. With an expanded scope of discovery and exploration, Jedi: Survivor included long-requested fast travel feature.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is scheduled to launch for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on April 28, 2023. Respawn Entertainment is much likely to skip last generation console for a sequel like Jedi: Survivor and work only on current-gen.
