Judgment Becomes Collectible Item in Japan After Drug Scandal

After making headlines for drug scandal, price for Yakuza spin-off Judgment goes sky high and becomes a must-have item.

As an action-adventure game and a Yakuza series spin-off by developer/publisher Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku studio, PlayStation 4-exclusive title Judgment was doing great after it came out in December 2018 and was set for a worldwide release on June 2019.

However, things went south pretty quick when one of the game's voice actors, Pierre Taki was arrested on a drug scandal and the game is entirely pulled off from sales in Japan, which has made it a collector's item for players these days.

Only weeks after a long-anticipated Western launch date announcement, Taki was arrested for alleged possession and usage of cocaine, leading Sega to voluntarily stop distribution of the game from digital and retail stores in response.

Although there was no official statement on when they will come back in marketplaces, it is easily predictable that the publisher may not resume sales anytime soon as long as the investigation on Taki is ongoing, thus creating a high demand for the PS4 title.

Judgment drug scandal has caused a massive spike in price in all over Japan and since there are no new copies available, used copies are currently being sold for as much as a whooping ¥45,000 or $400 following the controversy.

Originally, it used to sell for a price of ¥8,953 or $80 only but now that supply is scarce from source, even retailers are charging somewhat $100 or more. It all happened so fast within a few months of its release and the game is a must-buy item all of a sudden.

Aside from serving as a voice actor for the game, Pierre Taki has also dubbed voice for Olaf in animated musical fantasy Frozen and reprised his role in Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts III, which will be replaced soon according to Square Enix.

Known as Judge Eyes in Japan, Judgment probably won't see an unusual price hike when it will be released worldwide but then again, we don't really know for sure yet that whether or not dates will be pushed back because of Taki's arrest.

No Man's Sky Beyond Update

No Man's Sky major update Beyond is announced and will come to all available platforms on summer 2019.

Although action-adventure survival game No Man's Sky from developer/publisher Hello Games saw a rocky launch on PC and PlayStation 4 for lack of promised features when it arrived back in August 2016, they resolved those issues by the time it came to Xbox One in July 2018.

The studio eventually worked on it by introducing multiplayer components and then started releasing a series of free updates to deliver better experience to fans, which will be continued with upcoming free update Beyond in summer 2019.

A huge part of the gameplay of NMS involves exploration and initially a large number of initial complain from players was that in-game open world universe seemed a bit repetitive but listening to fan community, they fixed most part of that issues.

Following the release of NEXT update last year, Hello Games worked on a roadmap for their future releases. Beyond will roll in every feature that made all three of the past free updates great and would bring in No Man's Sky Online.

Their goal here is to expand social experience to the already existent multiplayer mode that will connect group of players from across worlds to play and interact together. Despite bringing large number of people in one place, it would not be an MMO.

General online elements will be there without anyone having to subscribe to any monthly services, nor there be any sort of micro-transactions and mostly, anyone who owns the game can instantly take part into the fray.

Ever since the developers released NEXT update that received very positive feedback for it, dev team started planning on bring more participants to the table rather than small groups of friends playing to make things a lot more exciting.

With a goal to surpass what they achieved in 2018, Hello Games is determined to take things to further and Beyond for the foreseeable future of No Man's Sky. What seemed like an ending after previous updates was actually a new beginning for the game and its community.

Judgment Pulled From Sales in Japan

Yakuza spin-off title Judgment was pulled from sales by SEGA in Japan after voice actor arrested for drug scandal.

An official spin-off title of the acclaimed Yakuza series, developer/publisher Sega has released action-adventure game Judgment back on December 2018 in Japan for players on PlayStation 4, also eyeing for a Western release this year.

The title was commercially doing pretty well and fans were eagerly waiting for a summer 2019 release worldwide. However, it has been pulled from sales after one of the game's voice actors was arrested for alleged possession and usage of cocaine.

Japanese actor and musician Pierre Taki, who has voiced over for in-game crime boss character Kyohei Hamura for the PS4 title has been arrested recently after tips on suspicion of his using a small amount of cocaine was received by police.

Initially, there was no drug to be found but when given a urine test, Taki was tested positive for cocaine usage. Right after this incident, Sega voluntarily came out with a press release for halting distribution and promotion for the game in response.

Following their brief statement, the publisher completely pulled the game off from digital and retail stores while the investigation is ongoing. Also, the planned release date of Judgment on June 25, 2019 is now in question until the investigation comes to a conclusion.

For many people, it may seem like a lot of drama over some routine drug charges but Japan has a very strict outlook on drugs and possession of cocaine can lead to seven years of prison sentences for voice actor Pierre Taki.

Originally developed as codename Project Judge and known as Judge Eyes in Japan, the game follows private detective Takayuki Yagami working on a serial murder case and engages in a beat 'em up adventure in third-person perspective.

This sudden drug scandal fiasco and Taki's arrest is obviously quite disheartening for everyone who put a lot of effort and labor in creating and promoting Judgment, both from within and outside of Japan, considering the studio announce a worldwide release date only a week ago.

The trailer opens up with new and unforeseen footage from the game where a wooden structure of some sorts is completely destroyed by a giant, raging bull that has a fiery log for horns as it approaches our ninja protagonist.

He parried an attack with his sword, jumped back even and when it still rushed towards him aggressively, the shinobi displays a new ability of vanishing in thin air and then reappearing on his position again, ready to strike again with a fire-attack.

Then it cut backs to a prior time when he and his master, the Owl were in a conversation regarding the latter handing his apprentice a task of protecting a young boy of great importance and failure is not a choice.

Unfortunately, Sekiro gets a prosthetic after losing his arm in ensuing fight before that boy is taken. So, he declares war against Ashina clan and unleashes his deadly warrior spirit upon them to seek revenge and fulfill his mission.

Going face-to-face with deadly enemies, hostile lands and gruesome boss-battles, a world of pain and suffering unveils ahead of the Wolf. Luckily, he came prepared by arming himself with powerful tools and awesome ninja abilities.

Fans of both Bloodborne and Dark Souls series may not find familiar aspects of those titles in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice but regardless of much RPG elements, it still is a great action game with an intriguing back-story shrouded in mystery.

Activision Won't Send Sekiro Early Review Copies

Publisher Activision is not sending out early review copies for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice before until it releases worldwide.

Upcoming anticipated action-adventure game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice from developer From Software and publisher Activision is only a few weeks away from releasing worldwide on March 22, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

However, unlike many other AAA-titles in the market, reviewer will not get a chance to have their early take on the game, because the publisher will not be sending out early copies for review before the game sees release.

News came in first from video game reviewer Skill Up from YouTube, who Tweeted saying Activision will not send out early review codes until the game releases.

Usually, when a publisher doesn't want to send out review copies early before official release of a game, the quality of the game becomes a matter of concern. However, we can rest assured considering From Software is behind development wheels for the game.

Skill Up also vouched up in this matter saying, the developers are definitely worthy of our benefit of the doubt about quality given their early track records with fan-favorite games like Bloodborne and Dark Souls trilogy in the past.

Following a press event in London, the publisher actually confirmed to several parties that they are not giving away pre-release review codes anytime before launch and people have to wait until Sekiro finally releases within weeks.

Whatever early gameplay demo they released so far, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice looks a solid title with stunning visuals. Activision is most likely has done this to prevent players from getting any spoilers in advance and not because they doesn't have faith in the product.

Marvel's Spider-Man Gets 33% Price Drop

PS4-exclusive action-adventure game Marvel's Spider-Man gets a permanent price drop and now price $39.99 only.

Without a doubt, Marvel's Spider-Man from developer Insomniac Games and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment is one of the biggest games of 2018 and we have an overwhelming fan-response to back that claim up as well.

Though the hype for this PlayStation 4-exclusive action-adventure title has been died down a little after the five months of launch and people are being ready for new games in 2019, Sony decided to offer a big discount on the title and took $20 off permanently.

Bringing the price down to $39.99 for Spider-Man on PS4 is not something new that the company has done. During Black Friday of 2018, the game was discounted by the same amount and was also given away with a limited edition Spider-Man PS4 Pro Bundle.

However, this permanent price drop on one of the best games of 2018 can cause a small spike on the sales number once again. Many fans who waited for an occasion like this would probably reach out their controller now to go swinging in New York as Spidey.

As soon as the hype died down, Sony dropped price on Detroit: Become Human, God of War and Shadow of the Colossus Remastered too on last year. You can now purchase the game from Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, PlayStation Store and Walmart on the discounted price.

Within the month of its release, Marvel's Spider-Man managed to become the fastest-selling PS4 game ever and even earned more than the opening weekend of Spider-Man: Homecoming movie by selling over 3.3 million physical copies.
