Call of Duty: Warzone Revealed

Activision has revealed free-to-play battle royale experience Call of Duty: Warzone, starting from March 10.

Months of hype carried out by leaks and rumors for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to get a battle royale mode has finally come to an end as developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision has just revealed Call of Duty: Warzone.

Warzone is a free-to-play experience for players on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, which will arrive on Early Access for Modern Warfare players at March 10, 8:00 AM PDT and then around 12:00 PM PDT for everyone else.

Take a quick look at intense battle royale mode Warzone, introduced as a standalone game for everyone.

Warzone would pit up to 150 players of tier 1 level operator against each other for intense battles over a broad map. At start, you can form trio squads with friends across two exciting game modes; Battle Royale and Plunder.

Your goal is to be last squad standing for battle royale as a circle of deadly gas rapidly closing in to engulf you. Plunder mode sets you on a race to collect cash from rival players while trying to complete some in-match contracts.

Both of Battle Royale mode and Plunder will take place on dense and expansive city map of Verdansk with 300 points of interests. Try and change your drop location often to get advantage in engagement or better land layout.

Warzone features a number of vehicles to give you a ride to fast evade gas circle and varied level of protection. Pick from ATV, cargo truck, SUV, tactical rover for means of transport for your squad on land or ride a helicopter on air.

After first elimination at battle royale, players are thrown into Gulag, where prisoners engage in fight to death. If you can defeat an opponent in 1v1, then you are deployed back or your squad mates will have to bail you out with in-match cash.

There are objective focused tasks across Verdansk that a group of trio can activate and complete for rewards. CoD: Warzone is a standalone experience separate from Modern Warfare and it features cross-platform support as well.

Even before Modern Warfare Season 2 went live last month, rumors of a battle royale mode were flying around online. Then an in-game cinematic trailer featuring operator Simon "Ghost" Riley has made its concept clearer to players.

Call of Duty: Warzone goes live tomorrow for anyone to download and play for free over all major platforms. PS4 console owners with an active Playstation Plus membership will get an exclusive Warzone Combat Pack for free.

Modern Warfare May Have Teased Warzone Battle Royale Release Date

Battle Royale mode Warzone for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare seem to be arriving very soon.

Earlier this month, developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision kicked-off Season 2 of first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and hinted players of an upcoming battle royale mode through an in-game cinematic trailer.

Shortly afterwards a gameplay footage was leaked on Reddit and now even developers have start teasing its release date that players have found in two different Easter eggs within newly added Gunfight map Bazaar and in Piccadilly map.

Following recent release of Modern Warfare update 1.15, players found a date "03/03" on a plate of a tank, which aligns with some past reports of a set launch date next week, for battle royale mode Warzone to arrive on March 3.

Infinity Ward usually rolls out all of their latest changes and updates for Modern Warfare on Tuesdays and therefore, March 3 date seems legit. Few other sources have claimed for that date to be March 10, which is also Tuesday.

RELATED: Modern Warfare Season 2 Trailer Hints at Battle Royale

First clue for anticipated Warzone mode release date came from newest inclusion of Bazaar map from update 1.15.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Mode Getting 1v1 and 3v3

Also, previously included "Classified" section of in-game main menu now shows a "Transmission Incoming" screen. This only hint to a closer reveal window for Warzone mode than anyone expected and we are likely to hear more about it soon.

Many are theorizing that Warzone will initially lunch as battle royale mode for Modern Warfare online multiplayer shooter and will get a free-to-play version release on a later date for all players who didn't purchase CoD: MW base game.

Another hint was pointed out on multiplayer map Piccadilly, on a cinema poster for upcoming film "War Beast".

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Gameplay Reveal

Piccadilly multiplayer map features advertisement for a fictional movie titled "War Beast", which has a March 3 release date and it could very well be a coincidence since this poster was there from very beginning, even before Warzone leaks.

It could also be that Infinity Ward has sneaked in this little Easter egg planning Warzone release prior to launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and probably that is why Activision was so determined to find battle royale leak sources earlier.

Modern Warfare Season 2 Trailer Hints at Battle Royale

In-game trailer for Season 2 suggests Battle Royale mode is coming soon to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Long-awaited Season 2 of first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has finally arrived from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision, which hints at game modes, maps, operators and tease at more content.

Return of operator Simon "Ghost" Riley and fan-favorite classic multiplayer Rust map in Season 2 Battle Pass is truly exciting. Though highly requested battle royale mode has not debuted yet, enough in-game hints were left out there.

Modern Warfare drops series of hints for a possible battle royale mode through an in-game cinematic trailer.

In opening shot of the trailer, three soldiers walk in to an airport terminal like area and one of them gets shot out of nowhere. His attacker finishes up with another bullet to the head and gets killed by remaining soldiers in return fire.

They talk about a gas closing in and move out before Ghost appears from above, contacting Captain Price telling something is wrong in Verdansk. Telling his boss to send some fighters that he can trust, Ghost moves out of there promptly.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Special Ops Trailer

Viewers are then shown a larger location resembling to Terminal map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. There are ongoing firefights throughout entire area being covered in green gas and four soldiers in parachute jumps down a plane.

This minute-long teaser could very much likely to be an early sneak peek in battle royale for CoD: MW. Aside from a huge ruined airport map to explore and fight, there will probably be a new gameplay system for three-player squad.

Following launch of MW Season 2, a known Call of Duty YouTuber has noticed some change made to in-game main menu. In addition to its regular four options, there is a newly added "Classified" section that you can't click on.

Though this latest change is not a direct hint at anything exact but it clearly leaves room to add one in future. According to a now-deleted key-art on Reddit, battle royale mode for Modern Warfare will be called "Call of Duty: Warzone".

YouTuber PrestigeIsKey has posted a recent image of changed Modern Warfare in-game menu on Twitter.

Activision and Infinity Ward has yet to confirm or deny validity of these theories players came up with but if all of these speculations eventually turn out to be true, then developers did right by extending Season 1 longer than expected.

Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently live on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Given all recent hints from dev team and various leaks, an announcement for battle royale mode may come before Season 3 goes live.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1 Live Now

Largest free content drop in Call of Duty history is now live with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1.

With fair share of criticisms and controversies, first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision has seen remarkable launch success in history of Call of Duty franchise.

Aside from two new Gunfight maps; Atrium and Cargo, players are in for a Ground War map called Port. This is a major shipment area for you to fight your enemies in a unique location surrounded by containers, cranes and streets.

Veterans can remember the map Crash with a downed helicopter from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which is brought back to fit a brand-new realistic narrative where both Allegiance and Coalition are after some items inside.

Multiplayer maps Vacant will return with another old favorite called Shipment, suitable for close-quarters combat. Although created long before Gunfight mode existed, series experts would love to have a new experience on these maps.

In a mix-up of Domination and Search & Destroy, new game mode Reinforce will put two groups to go after three flags. Everyone gets a single-life but when a flag is captured successfully, all members of a team will respawn.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Mode Getting 1v1 and 3v3

Co-design director Joe Cecot of Infinity Ward reveals to introduce 1v1 and 3v3 Gunfight mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Despite some controversies and a rocky launch, first-person shooter title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision has enjoyed best opening weekend in Call of Duty franchise history.

One of its latest innovative aspects, 2v2 multiplayer Gunfight mode will be getting both 1v1 and 3v3 variations in future. However, there are no official words from development team at this moment on when that is going to happen.

Gunfight Mode invites players into 40 second-long multiplayer 2v2 matches for close-quarters combat within small maps, particularly suited for those who don't want much complication and have too little time at hand for some intense action.

In a recent interaction with a fan on Twitter, multiplayer co-design director Joe Cecot has casually confirmed that 3v3 Gunfight mode is coming soon and so is 1v1 "at some point", which will be announced in future hopefully.

Without much information to go around, Joe Cecot hinted at possible inclusion of 1v1 and 3v3 mode for Gunfight.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Special Ops Trailer

In a new trailer, Activision offers a close look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Special Ops co-op mode.

Serving as a soft reboot of Modern Warfare sub-series, first-person shooter title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision is all set to arrive on October 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Less than away from launch, MW is revealing new details every now and then to keep up the hype. In a recently released trailer, fan-favorite game mode Special Ops marks its anticipated return and re-imagined for a new generation.

Latest Modern Warfare official trailer showcases high-octane gameplay aspects of Spec Ops multiplayer mode.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Mode Revealed

CoD: MW multiplayer mode Special Ops is comprised of a couple of interconnected Operations where you will form four-player strike teams to take down a threat from Eastern Hemisphere and complete multiple objectives as well.

In order to complete these team-based missions, players can either take a stealthy approach or go all guns blazing if they want. Throughout a wide variety of maps, Operations would offer the most involved activities and experiences.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith System Teased

You and your team would engage Al-Qatala army in the city of Verdansk and destroy their detailed coordinates. Primarily, four multi-stage Operations would be available at release and progress would carry over to multiplayer modes.

You are also free to hop on an ATV, helicopter, tank or any other vehicles necessary for your tactics to succeed. Though players are free to make calculated moves, enemy A.I. will react accordingly and thus, may change the tide of battle.

Missions can be played out solo or in a team of four to test your performance in a star ranking based system. These are more complex type of Operations, designed to be replayable and focused on killstreaks, weapons and other features.

Special Ops Survival is basically a wave-based horde mode where players are to go up against tides of increasingly difficult and resolved group of opponents over a Multiplayer map in co-operative combat alongside three friends.

RELATED: PlayStation State of Play September 2019

Since progressions will carry over and are interconnected, Spec Ops mode will serve as a great add-on to Modern Warfare campaign. Also, something sinister is teased nearing the end of trailer, which probably is a throwback to Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty series veterans would recognize some modern rendition of familiar world from Modern Warfare games. There are plans for adding more post-launch content for Spec Ops mode but no details are revealed just yet.

One of the biggest reasons for MW craze among fans is cross-play support, which is the first ever in entire CoD franchise. That excitement has faded soon for Spec Ops Survival mode as it would remain a PS4-exclusive feature for a full year.

Despite Infinity Ward denying any timed exclusivity content for Sony consoles, it was later revealed that above-mentioned multiplayer mode in fact is not coming to PC and Xbox One platforms before October 1, 2020 at all.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 Pro Bundle Revealed

However, this move shouldn't come to players as a surprise considering PS4 players got their hands on Beta program ahead of others, establishing the fact that people who own Sony consoles would get more than just Day 1 advantage.

Activision reportedly got a large number of pre-order cancelled for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare over Survival mode timed exclusivity but is still keeping up because it is too late now for any renegotiation of their contract with Sony.

To celebrate the epic launch of latest Call of Duty spin-off series title release, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a brand-new PS4 Pro console bundle today in association with developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision.

Priced $399.99 only, the bundle is already available on Best Buy for pre-order and will come to other storefronts like Amazon, GameStop, Walmart and select stores around Canada and U.S. soon on October 25, 2019.

As leaked earlier and now confirmed through recent announcement, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will feature a timed exclusive content Spec Ops Survival mode for a full year and this is unlike anything Sony has ever done before.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4-Exclusive Mode Outrage

Player on PC and Xbox One are angry over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yearlong PS4-exclusive mode.

Only a few days ago, developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision has successfully launched an Open Beta program for upcoming first-person shooter title Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Turns out, multiplayer beta for Modern Warfare has drawn largest number of audience in entire Call of Duty history. Then upon players discovering inclusion of a yearlong PS4-exclusive mode, things quickly went to south.

Activision and Infinity Ward stated that most of CoD: MW post-release content will be released simultaneously on all platforms unlike before but PS4 players would have a limited timed exclusivity period over them.

In best cases, Sony console owners will get Day 1 advantage but when it comes to Spec Ops Survival mode, it will exclusive for a full year. This absolutely nonsense has definitely irked majority of PC and Xbox One player community.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Revealed

Earlier, developers premiered story trailer for their latest shooter in recent State of Play stream by Sony Interactive Entertainment and there, Spec Ops mode is stated to remain exclusive to PS4 until October 1, 2020 nearing its end at 2:30.

Infinity Ward garnered so much fan support for MW 2019 being a fan-service title so far but Activision apparently made a deal with Sony a year before already, probably to get them on cross-platform play on top of a hefty sum of money.

RELATED: PlayStation State of Play September 2019

Even narrative director Taylor Kurosaki went on Twitter for some clarity about this decision that made fans mad.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2v2 Mode Alpha Announced

Kurosaki says that except for Spec Ops Survival mode, everything else is available for players on all platforms. Moreover, this unforeseen decision was made by people above their pay grade, which is a clear nod to publisher Activision.

He also claimed that PS4-exclusive mode is only 1% of the whole game and keeping it out doesn't simply ruin entire Modern Warfare experience for a player since 99% of content comes out for everyone on same day.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer Gameplay Reveal

All that hype that was built around Modern Warfare being incredibly gory and grounded in realism, plus having cross-play support for all has dimmed down by the confirmation of a locked away multiplayer mode until October 2020.

Anyone who is not on PS4 is not getting the full game and therefore, shouldn't pay full price. PC and Xbox One player base are rallying over social media to cancel their pre-order to protest against such ridiculous action by publisher.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith System Teased

By the time this timed exclusivity will over and Spec Ops Survival will launch on other platforms, essentially a new Call of Duty game will be out, which is presumably Call of Duty: Black Ops V and then people will forget about the issue.

Sony has been enjoying timed-exclusive access to Call of Duty post-launch content from 2015 and though many are claiming lately that is coming to an end, recent Open Beta coming two days early on PlayStation 4 suggests otherwise.

RELATED: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunfight Mode Revealed

Paying full price and then waiting for a full year only encourages many other AAA-companies in gaming industry for such unfair treatment of customers, or maybe they will even try to pull of something scummier than this next year.

If a major fraction of players from PC and Xbox One platforms ended up cancelling their pre-order, Activision may take a hit and learn a lesson but they are likely to have already anticipated something like this in advance and act accordingly.

RELATED: Call of Duty 2020 Will Be Black Ops 5

When releasing multiplayer first-person shooter Destiny back in 2014, a couple Strikes were exclusive to PS4 for a year and by the time they came to Xbox consoles, DLC expansions started coming out and those early contents lost all hype.

At this point, there may not be any way to revise their exclusivity deal with Sony but all that positive buzz Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received so far are now being blurred into oblivion for greedy moves made by its publisher.
