World of Warcraft: Old Soldier – Cinematic

World of Warcraft releases a new cinematic trailer on one of Horde’s oldest soldiers, Varok Saurfang.

We are nearing very close to the release of the seventh expansion pack Battle for Azeroth for World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game from developer/publisher Blizzard Entertainment and they too are launching related tutorial guides and animated shorts to help us catch on to it. The latest in the line is a cinematic featuring one of the legendary Horde warrior Varok Saurfang, following the release animated clip on Sylvanas Windrunner a few days ago.

Titled "Old Soldier", this new cinematic clip has moved from the hand-drawn look to a completely rendered cinematic while focusing on Saurfang.

Awaiting dawn, when an imminent battle awaits at Horde's doorstep, Varok Saurfang recalls events of the death of his son, Dranosh, where his son was granted a warrior's death instead of him. He looked over the approaching Alliance to exact vengeance on them for burning down the World Tree, Teldrassil. He was strongly opposed to Sylvanas’ decision as there was no glory in it. While still battling with his inner conflicts, he attempts to remove his heavy armor and then a young troll Zekhan came by.

Apparently, Zekhan has heard a lot about Saurfang from his father Hekazi and considers him as a legend. To his comment of falling in honor and glory in coming war, Varok simply grunts and clarified that there won't be any honor except pain. When the orc starts to advance toward the Alliance army to face them and finally die, Zekhan tags along trying to convince him that for many like him, the Horde is all they have and thus, commander Varok returns toward the walls of Lordearon.

Blizzard is slowly connecting all strands of these World of Warcraft short videos to the upcoming Battle for Azeroth and how each of these pivotal characters are being focused before entire community is joining the battle this August 14 on Mac and PC. Since Horde Warchief is so concerned with his honor, players on WoW subreddit are trying to start a movement by removing or hiding their shoulder armor to show solidarity towards him.
