Epic Games Store Will Continue Free Weekly Games in 2020

Epic Games promises to continue trend of giving away free PC games on Epic Games Store throughout 2020.

Hitting up one year anniversary last year, Epic Games didn't even slow down on their regular wave of free games offering on Epic Games Store and is still keeps on giving stepping into new year of 2020 with no sign of stopping.

Last year, EGS had 12 days of free games initiative that ran alongside their first annual Holiday Sale. They even entered a new decade giving three titles at once, which they intend to continue on a weekly basis throughout this year as well.

Not only did EGS highlighted many promising indie tiles on their platform, they handed out older games from those creators to members to claim for free as part of a promotional tactics, which seemed to have worked pretty well too.

During their entire run, they attracted 108 million members to their storefront and had their valued customers spend over $680 million for PC games and $251 million of that revenue amount was used up on third-party titles.

Epic Games is determined to continue supporting developers and publishers with a friendly 88% revenue split, just as they initially started. After enabling keyless purchasing integration with Humble Store lately, there are more to come in future.

Of course those numbers are very impressive for first year of a new digital distribution outlet but you can easily bet that a lion's share of that percentage has come from their free-to-play online shooter game Fortnite Battle Royale.

Most popular on Epic Store last year was Borderlands 3, Control, Metro Exodus, The Division 2, The Outer Worlds and World War Z. For 2020, they are planning to include Auto Chess, Godfall, Predator: Hunting Grounds and Rogue Company.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair Free on Epic Games Store Now

Epic Games Store wraps up 12 days of free games giveaway by offering a free of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair.

Though Epic Games originally announced to offer at least one freebie title on their digital distribution outlet Epic Games Store for each day until yearend, they seem to have extended that giveaway period until New Year of 2020.

Joining in on board is platform adventure game Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair by developer Playtonic Games and publisher Team 17, which came out only months ago and is now available to claim for next 24 hours at Epic Store.

You will be playing as a male chameleon named Yooka who is accompanied by Laylee, a female bat in a classic 2D side-scrolling action. However, instead of rehashing old formula, the studio has taken a modern approach for a sequel.

For completing each of its 20 uniquely different stages, players receive an extra hit point to finish Impossible Lair. This completely eliminates your need to go through all stages to face evil Capital B but you would probably want to do it anyway.

Impossible Lair actually improves upon overall mechanics of the series and its respective genre. Its beautiful design and gameplay concept is quite a blast but having no check-point within the game could be a real bummer sometime.

Right after wrapping up with 12 days of free games program with their latest title, Epic Games Store is seemingly getting back to their previous schedule of giving away weekly games for PC, starting with Darksiders II and Steep.

What started as an inside spoof within circles of dev team with a stock photo of a goose has sprung into waves of conversations, fan art and memes over various channels of social media worldwide, making it an internet phenomenon.

They decided to keep its unusual name after coming up with it before a video game festival and then it stuck. None of them though that putting people in the role of a mischievous goose to bully a small English village would be so much fun.

Crossing over a million sales is quite an achievement regardless of being a major AAA-title or a brand-new indie game. Majority of this number was generated from Linux, Mac, PC and Switch release before it came to PS4 and Xbox only weeks ago.

It is also worth noting that, many players on PC platform were only able to purchase the game from Epic Store, due to it being a timed exclusive and a possible Steam release can contribute to an impressive amount to overall revenue.

Now this amazing milestone has only increased chances of seeing more of slapstick winged fury in future, which could be a sequel or a DLC. Developers have yet to confirm whether or not there are any possibilities for some extra content.

Stealth-based sandbox title Untitled Goose Game offers a highly engaging experience even though relatively short in length and a simplistic approach to a goofy concept is what helped win the hearts of millions of fans for UGG.
