Borderlands 3 Release Date

Gearbox brings back original looter-shooter for this year when Borderlands 3 will unleash all-new mayhem on September 2019.

Finally, developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K Games has confirmed their upcoming action role-playing first-person shooter title Borderlands 3 is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 13, 2019 as early leaks suggested.

Even though they already made known publicly of the arrival of their latest installment of popular looter shooter series at PAX East, Gearbox came up with an official announcement trailer to reveal major details as they promised.

Players can join and team up in both local and online multiplayer game with fellow Vault Hunters despite having different levels or mission progress status. If you preferred classic co-op rules of Borderlands 2 better, that is also an option.

Like it was leaked though a series of now non-existing Tweets, the game indeed is launching on PC as a timed exclusive for Epic Games Store and will not be available on other digital outlets until April 2020, which irritates majority of players on PC platform.

Borderlands 3 to Be Epic Games Store Exclusive

It was leaked via a series of official Tweets that Borderlands 3 would arrive on September 13 as an Epic Games Store exclusive.

Only days have passed since developer Gearbox Software announced their much anticipated action role-playing game Borderlands 3 in association with publisher 2K Games at PAX East 2019 followed by a "Mask of Mayhem" teaser earlier.

No select platform for this upcoming looter shooter has been confirmed yet and so is an official date of release but apparently PC version of the game is going to be an Epic Games Store exclusive, according to a now deleted official Tweet.

Among a series of Tweets from Borderlands official Twitter account was a release date of September 13 when they referenced the game as "Mayhem" just like many times they did before but ended up deleting it because it was way too early.

If that is true then previous theories of it coming on October 2019 is debunked and a brief clip that was posted in a follow-up Tweet also has hint at the title being heading towards Epic Games' digital distribution platform on launch as well.

Lucky for us, Twitter user Wario64 has pulled it out of internet archive and posted for everyone to take a look at.

People initially thought of it as a sort of "April Fool" prank but then again, why would someone joke about a long-awaited game that is nothing but a jerk move unless it was not meant to come out right now and maybe on a later date?

There is a brief footage on the second deleted Tweet which has the Epic Games Store logo at bottom left beside 2K and Gearbox, which doesn't give away anything about its exclusivity essentially but surprisingly, we see no logo for Steam there.

Whatever doubts anyone had on their minds regarding these sudden leaks are later addressed by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford and he gave us some pretty strong hints at where they are going in terms of distribution in a series of Tweets.

Pitchford directly said nothing about their stand on the situation of the game being a timed exclusive and neither denied nor confirmed anything officially.

RELATED: Metro Exodus Adds Game Plus Mode

Pitchford also pointed out that the upcoming FPS title would be a timed exclusive for at least six months on Epic. He also brought up their support for cross-platform play for PC and consoles but irritated fans are still vouching for releasing it to Steam.

Though he cleverly pointed everyone to 2K Games and Take-Two Interactive for further queries by stating they do not decide which partner or platform to choose when it comes to circulation, fans are yet not happy about moving over to Epic Games.

RELATED: Borderlands 2 VR Comes to PlayStation

Being an Epic Games Store exclusive is not actually a bad thing but considering their launcher having a series of issues including account security; Steam is a better choice for PC gamer base who does not like to shop on other platforms.

Besides, all of previous Borderlands games are still on Valve's distribution outlet and are quite popular on the platform. Therefore, making Borderlands 3 a high-profile exclusive to their rival store makes it somewhat awkward and very surprising move.

DOOM Eternal, RAGE 2 and Wolfenstein to Steam

Upcoming titles from Bethesda like DOOM Eternal, RAGE 2 and Wolfenstein will be heading towards Steam.

In a heated war between Epic Games Store and Steam, developer/publisher Bethesda is apparently taking a stand against the former and is siding with the latter as they are about to bring some of their most anticipated titles to Valve's platform.

With a recent emergence of Epic Games' brand-new digital outlet, many game developers of the video game industry has sided with them by signing timed exclusives, leaving Steam behind with not much support and then, along came Bethesda.

In one of their recent Tweet, Bethesda has confirmed to release PC version of some of their upcoming games to Steam.

Ever since Epic Games have launched their very own distribution platforms last year, Valve Corporation is suddenly getting some tough competition and even lost some major AAA-titles to their rivals like Metro Exodus and The Division 2.

In case of the above-mentioned games, developer studios have pulled of their titles that were already announced and available for pre-order on Steam for some time and moved them over to Epic Games Store for a lucrative exclusive deal.

RELATED: RAGE 2: Wasteland Superhero Trailer

Many yet to be released titles like Control, Phoenix Point and The Outer Worlds will also are heading to their store as well. Bethesda decided to pick a side in this waging war of exclusivities and will release some of their renowned franchises to Steam.

Players will get their hands on games like DOOM Eternal, RAGE 2, Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot and Wolfenstein: Youngblood on their scheduled launch date now via Valve's distribution outlet, with possibility of more to join the march in future as well.

RELATED: Wolfenstein: Youngblood Story Trailer

Also joining to the bunch later in 2019 is Fallout 76, arguably one of the worst games of 2018 for a series of mishaps including a buggy release and controversies for delivering cheap nylon bags over West Tek canvas duffel bag with its Power Armor Edition.

Many players on PC also decided to opt out from buying the game because of having to play it on official Bethesda launcher that everyone hates. However, a Steam release might finally have some interested customer eventually purchase it after all.

RELATED: The Elder Scrolls Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Though Steam is no way a perfect digital outlet at all, PC gamers do have a soft spot for the platform because of their pro-consumer behaviors like having a friendly refund policy and a dedicated forum for customers to help them out in need.

Bethesda letting Valve host their games takes a new turn in ongoing storefront wars between them and Epic. Hopefully, other publishers would consider being more friendly to their customer base on PC in future and will not be greedy for exclusive deals.
